Trust Company - Dreaming in black and white

If, like me, you own this but have not put it on the stereo for a while, do yourself a favour and put it on the deck tonight and embrace it. I believe it was my album of the year in 2011, and it 100% deserves those honours. I love it.

I love 4 or 5 songs from it but not the whole album sadly

Yeah thats quite a statement given the albums that were released in 2011.

To me it was just very 2nd rate STOY. The slower ballady songs were pretty good - the rest were just very samey unmemorable walls of sound.

In fact id struggle to recall a single song.

Wow, 2nd rate SOTY? You know I am very fond of both bands, but imo this album absolutely crushes anything SOTY ever released.

As for the rest of the commentary, are you sure you are talking about 'Dreaming in black and white?' There is definitely truth to your statement if you were discussing 'The Lonely Position Of Neutral' or 'True Parallels' (after the brilliant first two tunes), but that's why I thought 'Dreaming in black and white' was so good - because it broke their nu-metal type formula of the past. Huge variation in song type, with rockers and ballads mixed nicely. To each their own, but I love it.

Just checked, as I rated it 4th in 2011:

1 . White Widdow - Serenade
2 . Toby Hitchcock - Mercury's Down
3 . Work Of Art - In Progress
4 . Trust Company - Dreaming in black & white
Oh, and I heard this today;
Peppermint Creeps - Animation X
Precious Metal - That Kind Of Girl
The Floyds - The Floyds
Kuni - Fucked Up
Paul Sabu - Heartbreak

Really,

I listened through last night just to check I wasn't talking crap and nearly every song sounds the same!

And afterwards I cannot remember a thing about it.

At least STOY songs are memorable and stick in your brain.

But yeah to each their own....................
