CAUTERIZE ~ "Disquises"

* Thanks Geoff

Not a bad disc at all. I can see this one getting quite a few spins.... though (in my opinion) not in the same league as SR-71.

Nice. That was quick. :)

Yeah, they're a different band to SR-71, for sure, and that album is particularly darker. I love both bands greatly, but the Cauterize lyrics put them a cut above for me. :)

Spinning:

Every Avenue - 'Picture Perfect' ; awesome album. Dave, you and Jay (HSF) should both check this one out. Arguably the most under-rated CD of 2009, imo. Mitch Allen and Butch Walker both had a small hand in it and it is light years ahead of their debut. Killer, killer disc.

Boy Like Girls - s/t ; man, I do love this disc but compared to the next one it's just not in the same league at all.

I've been meaning to check out that Every Avenue CD. I know Mitch really likes that one. Speaking of Mitch... I think I have heard about 6 songs that will be on his solo release (if he ever gets it done). He has been producing and writing for everyone but himself lately. Last season he wrote one of the songs that were used by American Idol contestants.

Now in the CD player... QUIET RIOT ~ "Alive And Well"

Yeah, I'd be amazed if you didn't dig that Every Avenue disc. I always mean to mention it when I see Mitch or Butch pop up on these modern rock discs, but they're on so many I lose track. Every Avenue does have a slight SR-71 vibe to it, though.

Spinning:

Boys Like Girls - 'Love Drunk' ; this has been the most spun album from 2009 for me, and probably over-takes everything from that year too. Just f*cking love this thing and each listen - if it's possible - seems to get better.

    • It's ok. I think people know I am a massive Crue fan, and I like a lot of stuff by them that people hate (the Generation Swine album for example) but the only newer original song I have cared about them in recent years was The Dirt. Everything else has been either meh or crap. I did also like their cover of Like a virgin, which I know a lot of peeps didn't like, so it's not like I am just craving the good old days. I would be happy if we could get a song close to Afraid, Saints of Los Angeles or the aforementioned The Dirt. I think songs like that will be few and far between sadly.
    • Have to agree. Although my expectations were that it would be absolutely horrible like Dogs of War lol. Still far away from classic Motley Crue but I at least made it all the way through this one so that's a positive. Still nothing to write home about but at least it rocks fairly well and there's a semblance of a song there.
    • Just ordered!   All three Magic Dance EPs (Another World, Kiss Scene and Haunting Me) combined into one CD. All new artwork, lyric booklet and three bonus tracks. Silver-pressed replication CD.     https://magicdance.bandcamp.com/album/magic-dance-the-eps
