Last movie you watched?

Yeah Rampage was better than I expected, should have known it would be with the Rock in it.
I saw it on a plane as a last resort and was happily surprised.

Saw the ne Johnny English.
Meh, not sure it works at his age any more. Or maybe it just wasn't funny.
Easy enough to watch, at the end I didn't feel like I wasted 90 mins of my like, but I probably had better things to do

Bird Box
Needed to see what all the fuss was about.
Weird film. As suspected I wasn't really wrapt with the ending, but that's the type of film it is.
Won't say more as spoilers, but it was OK I guess.

Bandersnatch - the latest Black Mirror episode.
This is a "choose your own adventure" film on Netflix
Was actually better than I expected. My daughter and I spent 3 hours going through different endings.
Feeling that we hadn't seen them all, we downloaded a copy and skipped through that. We found only a couple of bits we'd missed.
Need to watch on Netflix or it doesn't work.
People are loving it or hating it, I thought it was pretty good.

A couple of recent mentions I too saw in what was more or less a movie marathon for me this weekend. I do miss movies, so this was fun;

Ramage - saw this with my wife who is a mad Rock fan (I think because we look very similar) and as above, I thought it'd be poor and it was actually pretty cool. Well, it was what you'd expect for the most part, but it was highly watchable and I was surprised that the special effects were actually quite good. I thought it might be a bit dodgy, but good stupid action fun.

Bird Box - I overheard a conversation about this at work on Friday and was really interested. I was completely drawn in by it. Also avoiding spoilers, I didn't mind the ending, despite the banquet of questions it makes you ask the more you think about it... but I didn't mind it. I think watching this as a parent intensifies the experience tenfold... there were scenes I struggled to get through, lol, such was my anxiety at what was happening. Yeah, overall I guess I'd say it was a pretty good film. Hard to ignore being that captivated. I was amazed to read afterwards exactly how big and popular this film is at the moment. I don't think I've ever felt so on trend at any moment of my life as I did when I read some stuff in the aftermath of watching it.

A Quiet Place - well I had to see this one after 'Bird Box,' and reading last night that it was a very similar film. I struggled a bit with the silence in this one... found it a bit of a task at times. But still very intense viewing, again with the child factor... especially with the start of the film. Heavy stuff. Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool again, but my preference was for 'Bird Box' out of the two of them. If you like a different take on the post-apocalyptic I'd definitely recommend both films.

Ride
Basically the story of an Uber driver's night gone wrong, without mentioning Uber.
Also very similar to the Tom Cruise flick Collateral
Short movie at 77 mins or something, and OK to watch. Ending was average for me.
Probably a bit arty where it didn't need to be.

Saw The Predator.
Weird kind of rehash, kind of new movie.
The scientist chick turned out to be an action hero yawn. Predictable story.
Very predictable story in fact. So much so that it was pretty boring.

Death Kiss

Fascinating in that the lead actor is the spitting image of a young Charles Bronson.
That in itself had me watch the film.
Vigilante/revenge flick. Again, very predictable and not very well made overall.
Lots of B grade acting around in medium to big budget films lately.
OK, if you need something to watch.

Matthew McConaughey's role in this was classic. His speech about high school girls is so ridiculously funny and the Matt I want to see in many movies.

Watched Time Trap last night.
Damn good movie. Pretty different, and easy enough to watch.
Mastered the fine line of releasing information when needed, and was a fully rounded movie, leaving you interested the whole way through and satisfied at the end.
Recommended.
Don't watch a trailer first. One of those movies where it's better to not know anything about it and jump on the ride.

Hereditary ; pretty sure movies like this are the reason I wanted to stop watching horror movies (and did) a few years ago. This creeped the shit out of me and I was uncomfortable and unsettled for the full 2 hours and 7 mins this was on (I know because I checked how much self-torture I had left to endure). It's not the scariest horror movie ever made, I'm sure, but after a few years out of the game I really did find this creepy as shit. I genuinely don't know how to say if a horror movie is good or not because how something that creeps you out for 2 hours can be good is beyond me. But I will say it was a very effective horror film.

I concur. It is not a Saw or some other waaaay over the top horror porn or some Paranormal Activity jump scare affair. This one is old school thinking mans horror and gets stuck in your craw forever. I dug it and like your Geoff agree that this was a well made creepy movie. That house they had is as bad ass as they come too, I mean who has a house like that and who do I have to sleep with to get one?

a few holes in the story but we really enjoyed it...although a few scenes were a bit disturbing

When the boat capsized, and when she fell down the embankment? Or when the little girl left the boat when Sandy was in that cabin? Those three traumatised me, lol.

That would be best.

Sorry to burst bubbles but it was not a good movie. That said in the world of Lifetime melodrama's it was superior. So many things wrong and the editing, good gravy. But I am glad you all dug it and it was nice to see Malkovich in something again.

AND Trevante Rhodes is one hell of an actor. This kid needs to be in everything.

    • I grew up listening to Cuntry, and have kinda wanted to get back into it. But not the typical New Cuntry shit. So I'll give this a try.
    • I always forget about this band, and then I listen to them and am like, "Oh, yeah, they're good!" And then forget about them for another year.
    • I was a pretty big fan. Nature Of The Beast is a killer song. Saw them with Dave Gleeson from the Screaming Jets singing and he did an amazing job, but pretty sure they have a new singer now  I recently went through the two most recent albums before this one and there were a couple of ok tracks, but mostly mid. Fun fact: I saw the Angels a couple of years before Doc died at the Middle hotel in Ferntree Gully and they seemed to hate each other. Pretty sure Doc said nothing to the crowd all night. Fun fact 2: when they were building the transit bar in Melbourne, a mate and I found a service elevator that went to the roof, which was under construction. After peeing off the roof, which is always fun, we realised that we could clearly hear the music 5 or 6 floors below from a DJ I think. He was playing Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. We started yelling down the No Way Get Fucked, Fuck Off bit thinking we were hilarious. Then soon we noticed people looking up, and for some reason they seemed to be clearly hearing us. Another mate then called us to tell us security were on the way up the stairs so we took the service elevator down and managed to laugh it off. Stoopid drunk story I guess, but fun days.
    • Cheeky, getting your artwork in there. I wonder how you did that.  I like the vocal track on #1 and that'd be my pick. I personally don't dig the female versions of songs, because I'm not a female (yet?) and as these are songs written by ourselves I personally feel the best interpretation is an AI dude voice taking the place of your dude voice.
    • Yeah, that's great but this is obviously an accomplished musician probably completely in control of this output... not done with Suno, I'd bet. There's definitely dudes out there who are perfectly capable of doing their own music, like this dude, but for whatever reason might not be able to put a project together, again, for whatever reason... but this definitely feels a lot more like AI feeling in the missing gaps for someone otherwise in complete control of what he wants.  Either way, it is very cool indeed.  As Darkstone says, I'm not sure paying is the way to get the best results. I'm also not saying it isn't, especially with other platforms that are not Suno. I think already knowing what you're doing, musically, is the best way to get best results, personally. Suno, for example, is just perfect for someone who might enjoy writing lyrics but is not in any way shape or form an accomplished (or even adequate, lol) musician.  But yeah, it's pretty cool for some fun. I'm not sure if you checked out my links above. Keeping them pretty quiet due to lyrical content, lol, but you might dig some of the stuff in my links. 'As the moment passes by' and 'I'll wait for you' are two of my personal faves. Along with 'Faith to fall.'
    • Yeah, musically it's what you want, but vocally... Maybe Alex should take some vocal lessons from Ken Tamplin. ;}
    • Your Eyes - Darkstone (2024) Two versions of my song number 6     https://suno.com/song/e8c1e85b-21ee-4d35-a64b-e786f00944d2   https://suno.com/song/9144c77a-bd7c-49c1-9508-f724d0832fdb
    • Yep, although I was never a massive fan.
    • Yes, celebrating their fifty years. There only two original members left in the band. Dusty might agree with me the Angels died when the original singer passed away.
