"Detroit 9000" (1973)

Two Motown cops - one white, one black - are assigned to solve a theft from a political candidate's campaign fund, mixing it up with pimps, hookers and smugglers along the way, in this ultra-violent blaxploitation action flick. Silly but entertaining.

"Lightning Bolt" (aka "Operation Goldman," 1966)

A secret agent is assigned to investigate rocket sabotage on Cape Kennedy, and discovers a plot to dominate Earth by a beer-baron super villain with his own secret headquarters at the bottom of the ocean. Yikes!
This campy, cheesy-but-fun Italian spy flick is one of the better James Bond knock offs of the mid '60s, with cheap but effective sets and effects and lots of pretty girls.

"Who The F**k Is That Guy?" (2017)
A documentary profile of Michael Alago, an '80s NYC club kid and music geek who went on to become a powerhouse A&R executive. This is the guy who was barely old enough to drink when he signed Metallica to Elektra Records, then went on to work with a host of other artists/bands across the genre spectrum. Various members of Metallica, White Zombie, Metal Church, the Misfits, the Cro-Mags and many more provide commentary on an interesting guy who's definitely led an interesting life.

Been travelling so caught a few movies during flights

Black Panther - didn't live up to the hype for me, but still a good movie

Red Sparrow - had to download at my hotel to catch all the nudie bits that were edited out for the plane version. Not a bad movie.

Death Wish - a very different movie to the Charles Bronson movie. Great movie though.

Stepford Wives - was on in my hotel. Average

Before I Fall - was enjoyable until the end. A bit Groundhog Dayish

some French flicks, all from director Francois Ozon.......

Frantz - drama about effects of war, very good movie if you're like sentimental movies...

Jeune & Jolie (Young & Beautiful) - sexy drama about teenage prostitute, an ok movie...

The New Girlfriend (Une Nouvelle amie) -  drama about gender identity

"Last Action Hero" (1993)
Thanks to a "magic ticket," a young film buff suddenly finds himself transported into his favorite shoot-em-up film franchise, where he fights bad guys alongside his hero "Jack Slater" (Arnold Schwarzenegger). This flick wants to parody the cliches' of action movies and while it isn't always successful, it's got enough in-jokes amidst the butt kicking and stuff blowing up to keep viewers entertained.

The behind-the-scenes drama of making "Last Action Hero" has become a legendary Hollywood cautionary tale, involving major budget overruns, frequent rewrites, disastrous test screenings, and last minute editing.  To add insult to injury, it opened a week after "Jurassic Park" in the summer of 1993, which totally crushed it at the box office. Ahh-nuld's film career never completely recovered.

Game Over, Man - I haven't had much luck with Netflix-produced stuff, particularly movies, in the past, but this one broke the mold for me.  I never got in to Workaholics, but the Workaholics dudes pulled this one off.  Ridiculously hilarious movie.  Had me in stitches (and the folks with whom I watched it; my brother watched a few minutes and said it didn't do it for him, but I think he just didn't give it a chance-he LOVES immature and stupid stuff!)  3 buds who work together and chill get involved in a situation at work where they can't be chill anymore.

Game Night - Watched it on a recommendation, but I wasn't expecting much.  I was very pleasantly surprised.  Good cast, really good story, and very funny.  Glad I followed through on that recommendation.  A group of friends (couples) who get together regularly for game night have a wrinkle or two thrown in to game night (and other life plans) when a sibling shows up and wants to join in.

Apparently the three dudes from Game Over Man are the same as in some other show. Haven't seen that be the movie was pretty good.

They're from Workaholics.

"Dr. Butcher, M.D." (1981)
The Americanized cut of 1980's Italian splatter-fest "Zombi Holocaust," in which an investigative team from New York travels to a South Seas island that's home to flesh-eating natives and a crazed doctor whose experiments on the locals have created a race of zombies. Whatever name this movie goes by, it's the same ridiculously gory nonsense. Fun to watch in a WTF sort of way but not a must-see by any means.

Don't forget the soundtrack that featured Def Leppard, Aerosmith and new songs by Tesla and AC/DC

"Amityville 3-D" (1983)
A journalist who specializes in debunking supernatural phenomena moves into the famed house at 112 Ocean Avenue, planning to write an article on his experience. Naturally, this turns out to be a spectacularly bad decision for him and his family.

The third "Amityville" installment was released a year after Spielberg & Hooper's "Poltergeist" and borrows heavily from its plot, but it isn't nearly as much fun. The 3-D gimmick adds nothing to this slow moving flick full of cheap scares and even cheaper special effects. Useless trivia, "Amityville 3-D" features early-career performances by the then-unknown Meg Ryan and Lori ("Full House") Laughlin as a pair of teenyboppers!

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (2017)

In the latest "Star Wars" epic, Rey tracks down Luke Skywalker for help discovering her Jedi destiny, then battles the evil Kylo Ren. Meanwhile Finn and Poe fight to save the remnants of the Rebellion from a final all-out assault.
"Last Jedi" got tons of hate from fanboys who were apparently pissed that the film didn't live up to the personal fan fictions they were carrying around in their heads... but I thought it was great fun and it still made about a bazillion dollars at the box office. So either I'm easy to please, or the haters simply need to get off of Twitter and YouTube and get out of the house more often.
Bring on Episode IX!

"Violent Cops" (aka "Crimebusters," 1976)
A soldier (Henry Silva) and a detective (Antonio Sabato) team up to investigate how common Italian street thugs are getting their hands on military-grade machine guns. Naturally, this leads to lots of shoot-outs, vehicle chases, and fist fights.  In other words, this is a pretty typical '70s "poliziotteschi" flick, i.e. short on plot but loaded with cartoonish ultra-violence. Entertaining junk.

interesting, now I kind of want to check out some Italian crime movies. I googled that topic and there are as many of those as there are spaghetti westerns and horror :)

    • I was a pretty big fan. Nature Of The Beast is a killer song. Saw them with Dave Gleeson from the Screaming Jets singing and he did an amazing job, but pretty sure they have a new singer now  I recently went through the two most recent albums before this one and there were a couple of ok tracks, but mostly mid. Fun fact: I saw the Angels a couple of years before Doc died at the Middle hotel in Ferntree Gully and they seemed to hate each other. Pretty sure Doc said nothing to the crowd all night. Fun fact 2: when they were building the transit bar in Melbourne, a mate and I found a service elevator that went to the roof, which was under construction. After peeing off the roof, which is always fun, we realised that we could clearly hear the music 5 or 6 floors below from a DJ I think. He was playing Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. We started yelling down the No Way Get Fucked, Fuck Off bit thinking we were hilarious. Then soon we noticed people looking up, and for some reason they seemed to be clearly hearing us. Another mate then called us to tell us security were on the way up the stairs so we took the service elevator down and managed to laugh it off. Stoopid drunk story I guess, but fun days.
    • Cheeky, getting your artwork in there. I wonder how you did that.  I like the vocal track on #1 and that'd be my pick. I personally don't dig the female versions of songs, because I'm not a female (yet?) and as these are songs written by ourselves I personally feel the best interpretation is an AI dude voice taking the place of your dude voice.
    • Yeah, that's great but this is obviously an accomplished musician probably completely in control of this output... not done with Suno, I'd bet. There's definitely dudes out there who are perfectly capable of doing their own music, like this dude, but for whatever reason might not be able to put a project together, again, for whatever reason... but this definitely feels a lot more like AI feeling in the missing gaps for someone otherwise in complete control of what he wants.  Either way, it is very cool indeed.  As Darkstone says, I'm not sure paying is the way to get the best results. I'm also not saying it isn't, especially with other platforms that are not Suno. I think already knowing what you're doing, musically, is the best way to get best results, personally. Suno, for example, is just perfect for someone who might enjoy writing lyrics but is not in any way shape or form an accomplished (or even adequate, lol) musician.  But yeah, it's pretty cool for some fun. I'm not sure if you checked out my links above. Keeping them pretty quiet due to lyrical content, lol, but you might dig some of the stuff in my links. 'As the moment passes by' and 'I'll wait for you' are two of my personal faves. Along with 'Faith to fall.'
    • Yeah, musically it's what you want, but vocally... Maybe Alex should take some vocal lessons from Ken Tamplin. ;}
    • Your Eyes - Darkstone (2024) Two versions of my song number 6     https://suno.com/song/e8c1e85b-21ee-4d35-a64b-e786f00944d2   https://suno.com/song/9144c77a-bd7c-49c1-9508-f724d0832fdb
    • Yep, although I was never a massive fan.
    • Yes, celebrating their fifty years. There only two original members left in the band. Dusty might agree with me the Angels died when the original singer passed away.
    • It's just not the same without the Doc though...
