Forgotten Hard Rock Albums: ROXXI - "Drive It To Ya Hard"

One of my best purchases in 1990 was the fine debut output from the band ROXXI. Bought this not knowing a thing about them. Ending up in constant rotation in the tape deck!

Some of my favorites from this long forgotten gem:

I've seen the cover before, but I never listened to anything until today. Pretty cool stuff.

Cool man. That's really the point of these threads. To turn people on to the stuff they might have missed.

This one was a good one and the CD was high on everyone's wish lists for a time.

I was lucky enough to find a couple, kept one traded the other off years ago.

Enjoy these threads BTW.

Thanks bro! Just wish there was more discussion on the threads.

Discovered this band 3 years ago by accident when YouTube randomly recommended the music video to Drive it to you hard, and managed to pick up a cheap copy of the album on CD.

Just decided to watch the video again for some random reason and found out guitarist Dave Sciammacco passed away in Feb.

RIP Dave.

Yeah very good cd,as Glen said a little on the short side but for an indie its very very good, actually picked this up by contacting the singer Freddy years ago to see if they had any for sale :) and he did which was excellent(sent it and signed it), I actually did the same to get the Kid Cyote cd from Donny Taylor around the same time and that worked out also (came signed by the band plus he signed the cover & inside again to me  :) ) this was of course before the postal service started to bog the arm in) nice guys and good memories :drink:

Kinda overrated...not bad though.I liked the guitarwork.

I'm sure one of the labels out there FNA etc...would be interested in releasing some of their demos and live stuff.

    • This is kind of a twofer. I just got my Pioneer VX-90 Betamax back yesterday. Cost me a fortune to get it fixed. Well worth it to have such a beast of a machine. Before that I only had low to mid tier Beta machines. I am very excited. The first tape I played was Quiet Riot: Bang Thy Head. Watching that video I found myself in awe of how awesome Quiet Riot were during those first few years. How is it possible for a band to be that awesome and have it all go so wrong so quickly? By the time I heard about Quiet Riot in the early 2000s they were basically considered a joke. Sadly, I kind of just accepted that as fact. I was a casual fan at best and never really looked much deeper than the radio hits. That was a mistake. I am lucky that I at least got to see them live a couple times. I didn't appreciate it at the time. That was really cool of Kevin and the other guys to sign my ticket stub.
    • From Bravewords... Legendary rock guitarist Jake E. Lee (Ozzy Osbourne, Badlands, Red Dragon Cartel) has issued an update after he was shot multiple times earlier this week in a Las Vegas, NV street shooting. Jake shared the following via social media: "Checking. Is this on? Been awhile since I posted here. Let’s see: "I deeply appreciate all the concern and well wishes. Makes everything going on a little better. To clarify, I was shot three times. I was on my way back home from walking my dog Coco (I didn’t name him so don’t!) Don’t want to go into details now, I’m tired, but I feel relatively very lucky. The police found 15 shell casings at the scene which means he emptied his clip on me. I could only dodge so many so one bullet went through my forearm, one through my foot, and one in the back which broke a rib and damaged a lung. Priority now is to keep draining my lung till it’s done crying. Then we can pull that tube out and concentrate on the more minor injuries. "And by the way, Coco’s fine and appreciates your inquiries!"   Police released a statement regarding the shooting, which occurred early morning on October 15. The statement reads: "Officers responded to a shooting incident in the 11000 block of Alora Street. Officers arrived and located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male was transported to the hospital. No arrests have been made at this time. This is an ongoing investigation." In a statement to TMZ, Ozzy Osbourne said, “It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today. It’s just another senseless act of gun violence. I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be ok.” Lee played with Ozzy from 1983-1987 and was featured on the albums Bark At The Moon and The Ultimate Sin.
    • I fuckin' knew you would be the one to answer.  But you're not wrong. ;}
    • This is one of the songs Erik and Jona wrote for the next Skid Row album before he handed his notice in
    • So I have this info from a reliable inside source. There will be a new CL album at the start of 2025, and Danny is also working with Chez Kane on her third album which should come out late 2025.
