Sleaze - genuine question

Glen

Recommended Posts

I feel a bit out of the loop regards this genre.

I was discussing this the other day whilst listening to Crashdiet's Generation Wild and seriously wondered if this was the last truly great sleaze album (2010?)

But then I remembered Peepshow's Brand New Breed, but even that is from 2012........

What happened, and did I miss anything worthwhile??

[PS, I consider Crazy Lixx melodic hard rock so ignore them]

Peepshow's Brand New Breed - is that even sleaze? I love that album and listen to it alot and find it quite melodic, good harmonies etc

Why don't we just wait for Lindsay to get here? ;}

I get emails from Demon Doll records all the damn time, but I never know what albums are any good. And every time I am you bastards, nobody replies. So I'll just wait and see if any of the suggestions here are DD releases.

Yep, as far as I know it's been very dry from the genre for a long time. I think that Damn Dice album from last year was about the best of the lot and that was okay/solid at best.

Some bands that I think might be sleaze and have quite decent and good albums last year (70-75% range) :

DIRTY PASSION - s/t

SNAKEBITE - Princess of Pain

RECKLESS - Disorderly Conduct (might be old recording?)

SANTA CRUZ - s/t (not sure whether they should be categorized sleaze or not?)

SCANDAL CIRCUS - Mind Your Own Business

in 2014 there are some great moments such as :

HELL IN THE CLUB - Devil On My Shoulder

PRETTY WILD - s/t

CONFESS - Jail

STEEL PANTHER - All You Can Eat

DANGER - s/t

and there are few good ones :

BULLETRAIN - Start Talking

SWITCHBLADE SERENADE - Alive at Night

KIX - Rock Your Face Off

DIRTY SKIRTY - Rebel

MIDNIGHT SIN - Sex First

Was that last one from BlackRain no good? I never listened to it.

They had a new one?

Back in 2013, I think. Then I thought they were releasing one last year, but nothing came of it, save a music video.

There has been a handful of great releases in the last couple of years, but I'd agree only a fraction of what was around the 5 years before that.

As mentioned above.... start with Confess 'Jail' , that was probably the highlight of the last 3-4 years.
Hell In The club have a couple of great releases.
Cruel Intentions seem to be the real deal, but have stated they have no intention of releasing an album... only singles.

Hardcore Superstar's last release wasn't on par with their previous stuff I must admit.

Reckless Love been quiet but a new disc about to drop.
Same with Blackrain.
Sister went really heavy.
Last Vegas seemed to go a little more mainstream than their classic stuff, as have Buckcherry.
Pussy Sisster (geoff's favourite band name) have a new cd out. Havent heard it yet though, but supposedly good stuff.
Shiraz Lane definitely worth checking out
Pretty WIld was a great cd
Same with Niterain, but their follow up single didn't seem as goodt o these ears.
I loved Bulletrain
Danger not too bad

There's also a stack I haven't heard either... due to the shit aussie dollar over the past 18 months.

There are a few up n comers.... but who knows if they'll hit the highs of the previous generation.
Addiction - https://www.facebook.com/Addiction.Official/?fref=ts
Wicked - https://www.facebook.com/thebandwicked/
Nasty High - https://www.facebook.com/nastyhighrocks/
Nasty Rats - https://www.facebook.com/NastyRatz/
Trench Dogs - https://www.facebook.com/trenchdogs/?fref=nf
The TIp - https://www.facebook.com/thetiprock/

A couple of aussies been doing some nice stuff:
Laced In Lust - https://www.facebook.com/LacedInLust/?fref=ts
Sisters Doll - https://www.facebook.com/sistersdoll/?fref=ts
Kill SHott - should have been big, but broke up after their ep

But agree with the original sentiment, there hasn't been as many really big albums coming onto the scene in the last couple of years.

This is why I hate categorising stuff. Are either Wig Wam or Steel Panther actually "sleaze" bands?

    • I have been a Band Maid fan since their early days (2015) as I really don't mind foreign vocals as long as the music is great, but I always kinda avoided Babymetal as I saw a video of them once and really wasn't impressed with the kiddy vocals, so never gave them another chance. Fast forward to now and on the back of the collab with Electric Callboy I have decided to give them a go. I thought they had a huge discography as they have like 25 albums, but on closer inspection it is only four studio albums and 21 live albums. As I am not a fan of live albums anyway, I decided to buy the four studio albums as they are all quite cheap. Have to say there music is a mixed bag, but overall really enjoying a lot of it. Not sure if I just picked the wrong song to start with, or if it is just that I have adapted more due to getting into a lot of weird and wonderful foreign bands over the last few years, but I am glad I finally gave them a proper go. Have to say, if this song was sung in English I think they would have a lot of fans on here
    • Babymetal - Metal resistance Babymetal - The other one
    • Enjoyed their last cd "Human Nature" remind me of a mellower Black Stone Cherry, similar to Little Caesar.
    • BlackRain - Hot Rock Time Machine Lee Aaron - Bodyrock
    • Now theres a blast from the past  I'm lucky enough to possess
    • Another i'm still awaiting the arrival of...same day release/delivery my arse Amazon  Still this is sounding like their best release thus far...they are gaining and getting better...although I did enjoy the last few albums also...but the sound/production from this one is excellent.
    • Still awaiting mine to arrive...should've been on Weds  or according to my order that was the case anyway
    • Yeah, there is a definite push on the re-releasing of their stuff this last wee while by them for some reason.
    • Interesting interview here with Bach...the last two questions/answers in particular in reference to Skid Row/Reunion etc... https://www.loudersound.com/features/people-vs-sebastian-bach-and-seb-bach-vs-the-world?utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_content=classic-rock&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2covrZvC9xSCBo0aqMdrb-qU1nfty_0b2EgkjXEJqky4jjjmEmNgnexj4_aem_AfoqfDFTPTSA8jlGrk7iVQzRORYpdsVqIjxpoIw9cPMFfOzUewS_2NC855to5qWjvm9Df9MxCY4AIaJk3EeZH0xk
    • Really dig this. Better than the debut and that says something IMO.
