Sisters Doll - Welcome To The Dollhouse

Interesting. I'm not completely sold, but it looks worth more investigation. I'm not wild about the vocals and there's almost a Billy Idol kind of vibe (which I don't like), but like I said, I'd like to hear more.

Love the album. i was just going to sing it's praises when I saw this thread!! Very solid glam production and good songs. The lead vocals are the slight weak link but they have a certain charm. They remind me a little of 80's band Candy.

Who produced the album cos it's sonically great! the drum sound works!!

I'm playing this party album every day!!

Like it. Good stuff.

And the actress in the video is gorgeous!

(Just listened to 'Loaded Gun' by the same band ... not nearly as good imo; pretty average track. 'Run Away' was a little better, but not much. Shame.)

Really big surprise of 2012 to be honest. Didn't expect too much from this disc but I ended up really digging it. Here's a rundown of my thoughts on it:

1. Dollhouse (3:38) - good, catchy opening rocker - 7.25

2. Are You Scared of Clowns (3:39) - good comercial rocker, odd lyrics - 7.75

3. Run Away (3:36) - very nice commercial rocker - 8.00

4. Isabella (3:16) - another very good commercial/melodic rocker - 8.50

5. Lonely Room (3:38) - nice balladic number - 7.75

6. I Love Barbie (3:13) - decent tune, but not their best by any means - cool verses, though - 7.00

7. Turn Around (3:29) - nice catchy rocker - 7.25

8. Holly Dolly (3:35) - another pretty cool catchy rocker - 7.00

9. Loaded Gun (3:53) - good comercial rock tune - 7.25

10. Falling (3:38) - good melodic rocker - 7.75

TOTAL SCORE - 76%

The disc contains a couple of very surprising melodic/commercial numbers. Some odd lyrics and subjects along the way, but a really good debut. Great job.

Just been listening to this again ... changed my mind about 'Loaded Gun' - really nice tune. Could really do with a guitar solo, but otherwise a great song imo. Also love the title track and quite like 'Run Away'.

Us Amerkin's are blocked from watching apparently we ain't kewl enuff???

Yep. Same over here.

Sorry doods... they're just on 'Australia's Got Talent' at the moment and delivered a rendition of 'Dollhouse,' which was on their debut. I wouldn't say I'm a gigantic fan of the band, but compared to the rest of that trainwreck of a TV show it was pretty cool.

I don't watch that show, well because it's kinda long and drawn out too much, but it's better than the others of the same ilk.

Cool to see this band on it. There were 3 clips.

I remember this CD when it came out. Never really did it for me. Songs were ok, but nothing more than that.

You guys who can't see the clips - take that and multiply by 10 for Aussies, where so many US clips are 'not available in my country'

Weird 'cause we live in a global society now more than ever....

I first read this as though you were describing the clip. Take That multiplied by 10. Sounds like a good show. ;}

Don't know, but she was in that band.

She has a great sense of humor though, I guess that may have helped her through the public stigma of her theft lol

Is the theft thing true? Never heard that, but it'd make me laugh if it were true. She was on 'Celebrity Apprentice' too. I think she won it. lol, already forgot. Either her or Tim from 'Big Brother' won it. I like her too. She's a ditz, but funny.

But anyway, I agree with that guy, that the show is absolutely the worst of it's kind, by a country mile. Some guy comes on stage a plays with horses and the judges put him through? A fuckstick plays a ukulele whilst hoola-hooping and they put him through. Pointless dance groups (not singing); all through. A cute little boy dancing - I mean, it's all cute and stuff... but where the fuck is that going to go? The judges and point of the show is just so fucked up. I honestly don't understand the mindset for it. I hate it so much.

Anyway, as the story goes I was actually at work and walking through a doctor's surgery and noticed a glam band on a repeat of the show and made a mental note to watch re-runs to see what it's all about. Christ on a crutch it was hard work to get through it, though. Fast Forward was a good friend.

I HATE reality tv. I especially Hate the idol, talent shows. Theres been about 10 of them over past few years..Idol, Voice, Popstar, Got Talent, . and this years "got talent" is by far the worst thing yet! Even if they win... it means nothing.

    • From Iconoclassic Records FB page: Survivor lead singer Jimi Jamison's previously unreleased 2007 country-rock solo album! Entirely written and produced by fellow former Survivor bandmate Jim Peterik.  After leading Survivor to the top of the charts in the mid-'80s, powerhouse vocalist Jimi Jamison reunited with Jim Peterik to cut... a country-rock album? The concept seems perplexing, yet it makes perfect sense. The singer was born Jimmy Wayne Jamison in smalltown Mississippi. Those who knew him best said that you could hear his Southern roots, no matter what he was singing. Today's country music often blurs the line between true old school country, pop, and straight up rock & roll. The same is true with 'Jimmy Wayne Jamison,' which at times, doesn't stray too far from the Jimi Jamison that we all know and love so dearly.  All track versions are previously unheard. Second release in the Jimi Jamison Archive Series. Coming on August 23, Jamison's birthdate.   Tracklist 1. Live Life 2. Love You All Over The World 3. Runaway Train 4. Strong At The Broken Places 5. I Wanna Touch You There 6. Heart Of A Woman 7. Sound Of Home 8. Alive 9. Till You Love Someone 10. Come Dancing 11. A Kiss To Remember You By #jimijamison #Survivor #jimpeterik #melodicrock #countryrock #southernrock #aor
    • I'm happy the do different stuff. Otherwise what they do would get old. Tesla proved how easy it is to make and album have a def Lep feel. And I loved that album, as a one off. And I loved slang as well. Variety is the spice of life 😁
    • Ohh nice, hoping the new recent singles will be on this one.
    • New album out September 20th through Frontiers.
    • I agree. Ultimately, I think bands become sort of what they "really" want to become and move toward the "mean" so to speak.  Leppard always said that they wanted to be like Queen in that they weren't constrained by having to make certain types of songs.  It was probably that desire to go outside the box that allowed Pyromania and Hysteria to happen in the first place.   And it's probably what's caused them to jump around with different style songs throughout the years.  I think it would've happened that way regardless.   Who knows though.  Maybe Steve would've influenced things a little bit as his Led Zep and Jimmy Page influences might've trickled in more.  And who knows what could've happened if Mutt stuck around for a couple more albums too....he was probably the most important piece in the puzzle.  They were already changing lanes though even with Steve and Mutt in the fold.  I think they've still shown they're capable of doing more classic sounding stuff if they want to with songs like Promises, Paper Sun, Dangerous, Take What You Want, etc being a few examples.    Either way, I'm just happy they've kept it going for nearly 50 years.  It has to be tough staying inspired and coming up with new song ideas for that long so that's kind of why I think the course they took would've naturally happened either way.
    • What are the chances...no sooner than I got these from the band that Eonian annouce that they'll be issuing them  https://www.eonianrecords.com/ Their new single - Out Of Touch https://wantedbandofficial.bandcamp.com/track/out-of-touch
