manicego
Skin had quite a few good pop covers on the bonus disc that came with the limited edition version of their debut CD: Unbelievable (EMF) Dog eat dog (Adam Ant) Express yourself (Madonna) Pump it up (Elvis Costello) Hangin on the telephone (Blondie) Should I stay or should I go (The Clash) Their version of Madonna's "Express Yourself" was pretty damn good. Fat Freddy
I just picked up one of L.A. Guns' covers discs ("Covered In Guns") yesterday on a whim and in additional to the usual suspects being covered (KISS, AC/DC, etc.) they throw in a few weird pop things like "Break My Stride" by Matthew Wilder and "Cry Little Sister" (aka "Theme from The Lost Boys")... ... "Break My Stride" is still an absolutely f*cking godawful song no matter who is performing it by the way...

manicego
Bumping this to share a couple of newer ones. And speaking earlier of Prince covers, this will always be my favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BruP4CX0EJs This one is marked as private so I did search on it and Mitch's version is great. I think Cyndi Lauper's cover is the best version of the song personally

CureTheSane
Radar Love - White Lion is probably my favorite cover as I think it is far better than the original. For ABBA covers check out The Black Sweden - Gold 2000 http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glamcd.cgi?BandNum=2858&CDName=Gold Mixing ABBA songs with others. There is also a Metallica/ABBA mash up album which is fun. Can't remember it at the moment.
