  1. One messed up dude. He was featured on an episode of the show Intervention. Talented guy but from what I recall he never cleaned up.
  2. One of my favorite vocalists. I gotta go with the project that introduced me to JSS; Eyes. Haven't heard everything he's been involved in but I can't think of anything I've heard that I dislike. Takara and his solo stuff rank right up there. And based on what I've heard, W.E.T. may just displace Eyes upon its release.
  3. I only wish. Unfortunately I blew my wad already seeing the Cult in LA (Aug) and then Steel Panther in Vegas (Sept). I'm hoping I have one more good road trip in me and I plan on it being a trek to the east coast to see D2 in a small venue like the one tonight. Guess I'll have to wait until they line up dates for 2010 (hopefully). Have a great time if you're going and let us know how the show is including a set list if you can.
  4. Saw that. Not sure I'll pick up the album unless I see it cheap somewhere but I am going to see Kiss and Buckcherry on Nov 9. Couldn't pass up on $20 tickets. When was the last time you saw tickets in that price range for a major headlining act? Quite impressive imo, especially when you consider how money hungry Gene is.
  5. Finally got to see them at the Green Valley Casino in Vegas last Friday. Awesome show! Band was tight, Starr was spot on, bits were hilarious. My beef is they only played 3 originals (Girl, Asian Hooker and Community). WTF? No Death to All but Metal or Fat Girl? They had Lifehouse join them on stage for Really Got Me and Sweet Child O Mine so maybe they bumped the two originals to do those, I don't know. Oh well. And no merch whatsoever. Guess I'll just have to wait until the stateside release of Feel the Steel. Amazon has it for $9.99 so I do have it preordered. If you get the chance DO NOT think twice about seeing these guys. One helluva show!
  6. Still waiting for mine; I ordered through their web site. Anyone else find it strange that they commemorate the 20th anniversary of their self titled release with a brand new studio album with Ted and then only do one live gig to support it in 2009? Makes no sense to me.
  7. LMFAO Me thinks that wasn't the audition tape he handed Vito Bratta. And yet I had difficulties averting my eyes for some reason. Maybe it was the backless denim cutoff vest, his suave dance moves or the Pet Shop Boys vibe of the song itself. Funny as hell. As is their other video Born to Make You Happy.

    W.E.T

I'm really fired up about this release especially after hearing the samples at mr.com!!
  9. I'm all over this one the moment it's available to the public!
  10. Tinted Windows s/t Search the City A Fire so Big... Waiting on Living Things and Steadlur to arrive in the mail. Danger Danger Revolve and The Cult Love Omnibus Edition both preordered.
  11. Hey Sam: The obvious local Winnipeg bands (and I believe all 3 are still within the city limits) are Harlequin, Chris Burke Gaffney and Orphan/The Pumps/Deadbeat Honeymooners and Kenny Shields/Streetheart. Quota, Lenita Erickson, and White Heat had Winnipeg ties at one time but haven't been heard locally for years. Robin Black of the Intergalactic Rock Stars was born here (at least within an hour of the city) and played with the Ballroom Zombies here locally for years. He's been in town recently fighting in several local mixed martial arts shows but I think he's still based out of Toronto. I'll give the old brain the once over and see if I can shake out a few more names. What's the name of the rock fest in North Dakota? Any rumours as to who might be playing there next July? Winnipeg is but an hour away from the North Dakota border so this one is practically playing in my backyard and I missed Danger Danger at Rocklahoma this summer. Nudge Nudge. Wink. Wink. And if you read this; what are the chances of Retrospect doing a legit release of Blackfish's second album. Take care.
  12. Nice lineup alright. And I would pay a handsome ransom to see Tommy LaVerdi and 21 Guns live. Have you seen the Youtube footage of their club concert in NYC back in 1992? Crap quality but the sound isn't too bad and you do get a great idea of what they were like live back in the day. Love that band!!
  13. I really like the s/t cd. Yea, "aggressive" is a fitting description of the vocals on a few songs, particularily Bomb Hands which is one of my faves off this one. Not sure what to make of the lead off single from their latest but I'll likely pick it up in spite of it. They're playing locally on the 22nd of the month so I may even check them out live.
  14. Loved their debut and will be grabbing this one the day it comes out. High gloss sugar pop in the same vein as We the Kings and early AAR. If it's half as good as their debut it'll be money well spent.
  15. Vocals are similar to Placebo's Brian Molko. Not bad on the first listen.
  16. The Cult Love Live!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy that one!!
  17. Off the top of my head: Cry of Love Diamonds and Debris, Big Cock's 3 cds and while they have yet to release a new studio album with him, Mason is fronting Warrant now.
  18. Backed. Hardly a misfit in the hard rock category, imo. I've been trying to grab the 3 bonus tracks available on the special edition version of their debut (tracks 13, 14 and 15: Run,Run,Run/City of the Living Dead/Gimme Some More) but Amazon UK has put geographic limitations on it disqualifying overseas buyers from purchasing them. Anyone with access to Amazon UK able to buy them for me? Not much of a computer guy so not sure how you'd send them to me but I can pay you via paypal beforehand so you're not out of pocket making the purchase. Any takers, PM me or email at shamusquinn@hotmail.com And if anyone is a fan of this band, you really should check out those 3 songs.
  19. Nice photos. Looks like it was a great show!
  20. Yea. The Love Live tour was to begin with the San Diego show last Wed. Alot of people went to the LV and AC shows expecting them to do the Love album. LA rocked! Highlights were Hollow Man (probably my favorite Cult song and first time hearing it live) plus Electric Ocean (another fave). Hopefully the second leg of the tour brings them to my city and I can see them again. Set list for that night: Nirvana Big Neon Glitter Love Brother Wolf, Sister Moon Rain The Phoenix Hollow Man Revolution She Sells Sanctuary Black Angel Electric Ocean Wildflower Illuminated Rise Fire Woman Dirty Little Rockstar Love Removal Machine
  21. And I am there!!!! Flight's in 5 and a half hours. Their Love album in its entirety plus their usual live staples. Can't wait!
  22. I go with Jovi. Like the tune and will pick up the album if the rest compares. Hate Creed but it's really not a bad song. Still won't touch it. I'll have to give the new Kiss a few more spins but right now I'm not overly impressed.
  23. Nothing warranting a safety deposit box rental but the rarest of the rare within my collection: Marvelous 3 Hey! Album - the original indie version released on Marvelous Records The Unknown Big Dreams The Cult Rare Cult Boxed Set Lillian Axe Love and War - original MCA pressing The Babys Union Jacks and On the Edge - original Chrysalis pressings Rick Santers 1st and 2nd Shot - Long Island Records (now that's how you introduce a classic to the cd format!)
  24. I am really loving this band based on the myspace tunes. Definitely will pick this one up but the Jap bonus track is so good I am contemplating buying the import version. I figured these guys would generate major heat around here. No one else like what they hear?
