  1. Wow! What a lineup! Fourteen hours away for me but I am seriously contemplating going. If the Carnalville gig is still a go I would have a chance to see Danger Danger twice in back to back nights. What time does Far Cry go on Saturday?
  2. Haven't heard Forever. I'll have to preview it through Itunes. I haven't heard all of Sparks the Rescue but the song Autumn is monstrous! I think I downloaded that track from Purevolume.com. I see the album on ebay for one cent quite often. Just waiting to swoop in and snag one in the very near future.
  3. I was slightly underwhelmed by this one initially and I'm sure it's partly because of my sky high expectations for it after their debut. I wanted to give it awhile to see how it holds up after multiple spins. I can hear the growth in their writing but for me I would have preferred a carbon copy of their st which (like We the Kings and Sparks the Rescue's Autumn) perfectly mimics the All American Rejects sound I love so much. Love the Aldo Nova Fantasy opening riff in Heart Heart Heartbreak but I loathe the heavy effects throughout the instrumentation and vocals. Then the out of this world chorus goes beyond redemption and instantly catapults the track into my top 2 next to Love Drunk which is absolutely epic and ranks along side all my faves from their st disc. Tracks 3 and 6: no balls but highly infectious sing along choruses. Both no doubt sound great live but just like the Friday Night Boys debut would benefit from some more crunch. Track 5 is getting tons of airplay around here and it is a tender song but for me it is a momentum killer where it is. Contagious is exactly what I expect from this band. Love it. Fourth favorite track. Track 7 is okay but boring. Almost a country rock ballad feel to it. Guess I just prefer the power ballads of the 80s. Track 8 isn't a personal fave whereas track 9 is probably one spin away from displacing the opening track from the #2 spot. Killer!!! Like Chemicals Collide a lot, too. Not a fan of the closer and find myself skipping over it more often than not. Still prefer the debut but this one is gaining momentum with every spin. A little too polished overall but nobody can deny this is catchy as hell. Very pleased with it.
  4. Aldo - Saints and Sinners Produced and engineered by Aldo Nova.
  5. Huge fan of these guys. Saw them live in Atlanta in 2001. Really didn't like Smoke but everything else is golden. I love Kevn Kinney's solo work as well. His vocals are definitely an acquired taste but I personally love them. Heard them described as REM meets AC/DC but I never really got that vibe. Hard rock with a folk presence at times. Certainly won't be everyone's cup of tea but count me as a fan.
  6. Morrissey was the singer in the Smiths. I don't mind the vocal style. Band sounds like a sleazier Living Things. Visually: you have two guys from Big Bang Babies and two from Wheatus. Interesting.
  7. Crowes - Cry of Love Audley Freed played with the Crowes after COL disbanded.
  8. Love Gun, followed by I Stole Your Love and then Christ-16. My fave Kiss album.
  9. Their debut was unbelievable. The following two had a dozen decent tracks between them. I really liked Category 5 as well but they lost me after o2 which had only one song I could get into. Truthfully I couldn't even tell you how many albums they've put out since. Still consider myself a huge fan and wouldn't hesitate a second to buy a new album from them. And if you get a chance to see them live definitely do so.
  10. I think anyone who heard Y&T before this album will agree that the band was absolutely desperate for a commercial hit and that weighed heavily on their minds when they released DFTC. That said, I love this album as much as Black Tiger and Mean Streak and even more than Earthshaker and In Rock and probably play it more than any of their others. Anytime at All followed by Face Like an Angel for me but I usually play the album in its entirety; even Mama Don't Dance.
  11. So is that D2 gig Friday April 30 or the following Friday May 7?
  12. Where did you find out D2 is playing an adult venue? Is that a confirmed date? Any chance they'll come a little further west to Minneapolis? I've never seen them live yet but if I can squeeze out one more roadtrip D2 would be the one for me especially if they are playing in a smaller club setting.
  13. I agree. Kelly just has that x factor. And I love D&D with Mason but Brother may just make my top 20 fave cds of all time.
  14. Thanks Geoff. That would be great. Email is shamusquinn@hotmail.com
  15. Audley Freed? Who went on to play in the Black Crowes? How's that for bragging rights. Nicely done.
  16. How do you get these songs on this side of the pond? Finally heard Feel the Steel from start to finish and my new favorite song is the side splitting Shocker. That chorus delivery kills me every time along with my favorite line: "You can spot a rookie who's been using the shocker He walks around with a pinky that's brown" Hilarious and an all out killer tune to boot!
  17. So I'm turning 40 in April 2031 (okay so it's actually April 2011) and I was looking at throwing an all out 80s Hair Metal theme party and recreating the debauchery of the Sunset Strip in my quiet suburban neighbourhood and rock out Steel Panther style. Just wondering if any of you guys have any ideas I can possibly use to up the authenticity factor. Obviously I have the music part covered. I'll probably go with a DLR via the Hot for Teacher vid look with the glacier glasses and faux cop hat. Guess I'll have to look long and hard for some bad ass (or just plain bad depending on your viewpoint) spandex and either Chuck Taylors or cowboy boots if I can find some to pimp. Hoping to transform my living place into a backstage-like area stocked with items typical of rock star riders. You know, M&Ms but no brown ones etc. Anyone know of any ridiculous requests on band riders? Or outlandish backstage war stories? Plenty of JD to be had. I'll set up a cracked mirror on the bathroom counter complete with rolled dollar bill and faux coke. Hoping to get my hands on a velvet rope to section off my driveway. I have a scary looking guy my brother knows who will act as the doorman all night. Probably mail out backstage laminates to friends as invitations. WII Rock Band and possibly a real guitar and amp rig for people to screw around on. Would love to have a limo rented for the night and parked out front of my house but not sure how cost effective that will be. I have a hot tub off my deck so I'm sure the party will spill outside eventually despite the prospect of bad weather in April being extremely likely here in Canada. Anyway, those are some of my ideas. Thought it might be fun to see what some of you guys can come up with. Thanks.
  18. If Danger Danger is aboard I will definitely try to make this festival. Probably a 13 or 14 hour drive for me but worth the trip. Any further details?
  19. Narrowed it down to Machine Gun, Bitter Pill, Sad Theresa and the eventual winner Bridges are Burning. Can`t believe I sent this one packing when I received it through Columbia House back in the day. Since I reacquired it, Dog Eat Dog has grown into my favorite Warrant cd.
  20. What an incredible album this one is. Tough to pinpoint an outright favorite but I'll go with Hold Back the Night.
  21. Unfulfilled potential on the field (with his talent he could have been a dominant force eventually) but there were many reports of him turning things around off the field where it really counts. Absolutely tragic. R.I.P.
  22. My personal fave from that one.
  23. Bought it on Itunes the day it came out. Killer tune and some of their best lyrics to date imho. Must hear.
