Skid Row

What happened to releasing 3 EPs in the span of every 4 to 6 months? "United World Rebellion: Chapter One" came out a year ago today (April 16, 2013) and we have no new music from Skid Row since.

While I have not been a fan of the band with Sollinger fronting them, the last EP wasn't that bad and I was wanting to hear more. I still think their material has been more miss than hit since Baz left, alienating fans with their obsession with wanting to sound "nu-metal" "alternative" or "punk". I know some folks loved "Thickskin" and "RPM". I am not one of them, as both were lame attempts to be relevant in today's scene.

Anybody know what's going on with them and when UWR: Chapter Two is going to be released or did it do so bad that they scrapped the idea of an EP every 4 to 6 months?

New seven song EP 'United World Rebellion - Part 2', set for release on August 5th via Megaforce Records

Cool. Thanks for the info. Hope it continues to be another step in the right direction.

Yeah to be honest I like the Soinger era stuff as well, especially Thickskin. I think of it as a different band though, I don't even compare to the Bach era.

I agree though there are a few songs that I swear I hear Bach but the majority is something other than the Skids.

Why EPs? F*ck EPs annoy me. Why not just put in the effort for a full new album and stop f*cking around?

I've liked portions of the Sollinger stuff. Far from great, but not bad. Though 'Thickskin' did have some great stuff on it.

Dont forget they released vol 1 later in Europe (and maybe other countries) than in America, and then put a couple more tracks on it.

So maybe thats why there was a delay with vol 2.

Yeah after the Bach era, these guys just haven't been able to capture my attention like they used to. Wish they would just write the music like they used to. I'm sure Solinger can do a good job with it. Don't know if I'm going to be checking this one out.....we'll see.

As per usual, nothing to get excited about. Sounds ok, but nothing more.

All I want is that real Skid Row sound back even if they cant reunite with Bach.

I agree 100%. Where did the old Skid Row go? They were pretty awesome with Matt Fallon before Baz joined. Baz just lifted them to another level.

The Skids since Baz have no real identity. No signature sound. I just can't get excited by them anymore. And Baz's solo stuff isn't that great either.

I like Bachs solo stuff, but I dont love it. Some really good songs in there, but a lot of other stuff that just passes you by. And apart from the odd ballad, none of his solo stuff sounds like Skid Row exactly either. Still, if I had to pick who had the closest sound to Skid Row these days, it would be Bach.

Oh and yeah, considering the debut album was pretty much already written before Bach was in the band, the sound of the band had nothing to do with him, so why cant they recapture some of that?

Bachs vocals were something else, but musically the band had the chops before he got there.

I guess I'll be the odd man out, 'cause I like that new song. Granted, it's not even close to Baz-era Skid Row quality, but for a heavy-edged hard rock song, it sounds pretty good to me.

Yeah, I heard some of the stuff from the Matt Fallon years. Even though they were crappy demo, that stuff sounded better than what they have been putting out for the past few years. I wish they would go back to writing the style their known for. They don't need Baz as long as they can write some killer music. Hell, they could even hook back up with Fallon. He didn't sound that bad on some of the early versions off their first release.

    • As best I can tell, it’s Acousticyzed re-issued with new artwork, and in all the various formats mentioned. This is exactly why I didn’t worry about picking it up earlier this year, as I figured MS would whip out the holy schlong and try to get the hardcore fans to shell out for a second version.

    • Not really something that fully appeals to me, but I certainly don't see it as dogshit. If it came on the radio (not that I listen to radio) I certainly would not turn it off or skip it on a playlist.
    • Yeah, this whole thread offends me.
    • I'm liking that first track as well
    • Interesting song choice as far as covering Journey, but they likely wanted to go with a lesser known track.   I'm not a fan of the vocal effects nor the guitar tone.  It's a skip for me, but not as bad as I was expecting after reading the prior comments.

    • Ehh? Is this the same content retitled, or a completely different set of live material?... there's so much wrong with this announcement: This album was previously released as a very-limited CD/DVD.  It sold out instantly.  So we went back in and did a Dolby Atmos remaster/remix of the album, and all new artwork. But CD and DVD don't support Dolby Atmos. That's not a thing. Blu-Ray yes, but not CD or DVD. ALSO - Not only will this be available on streaming platforms but we will soon be announcing the release of Vinyl, CD/DVD, and Cassette.  Yes, you read that right.  Cassette.  Oh - let's talk about the video - the BluRay video has been upgraded to 4K for this release "Upgraded to 4k"... whut? Unless it was reshot using 4K cameras (or was originally shot in 4K but simply authored to blu-ray in SDR) and is completely reauthored to support HDR, a 4K UHD release may not actually be an improvement. Boomers saying boomer things...
