Just the opposite for me. This is my least favorite 80's era KISS album. I also went with Exciter as my favorite track.

I always liked "Fits Like A Glove"... classic Gene Simmons sex song there... heavy as hell too... great album overall, one of their better ones from the 80s.

I love that lyric in that song "Cause when I go through her it's just like a hot knife through butter".

Classic Gene. This was his some of his best material of the 80's. He didn't have any great songs again until the Revenge album.

That's cuz he was too busy being a movie star, a record label mogul and a producer... Paul Stanley was pretty much driving the KISS ship from ANIMALIZE up until REVENGE

Did you read that part of Gene Simmons book where he claims to have been offered the lead role in the first Predator movie before it was offered to Arnold. I'm not sure you can believe half of the stuff Gene says.

You're right about Paul driving the ship but I am thankful Gene helped House of Lords release a couple of albums.

Lick It Up for me. It's just a great sing along song. I even got some of my old co-workers (who listen to rap/hip-hop) into this song. Before I knew it, they were asking me to bring to work and singing along as well.

I didn't mean to imply that there were no good KISS songs again till Revenge, I said that there were no real "Gene" songs until then. Paul did a fine job driving the ship while Gene was off in La-La-Land IMHO. Animalize and Asylum are great records, I'm a little less fond of Crazy Nights and Hot In The Shade but they each have their moments...

And by the way, I haven't had any weed since the early 90s. I went thru my "I'm a little pot head" phase while I was in college but haven't touched it since ;)

What I was trying to say Jared was that the quality of Gene's songs on Creatures and Lick it Up are far superior to anything he wrote until "Unholy" on Revenge. And it took the help of Vinnie Vincent to write "Unholy". He didn't write any songs I hated....I just feel they weren't as good as the early 80's stuff.

Not Kiss' best album by a long shot, but if I had to pick a song, it would be "Lick It Up," which is the best of a mediocre bunch.

Y'know, it's kinda sad that so few people give Paul Stanley ANY props whatsoever for his status as a rap metal pioneer.... I mean, check out his mad flow on "All Hell's Breakin' Loose" off of this album.

Keep in mind that this song was released three years before Aerosmith/Run DMC's "Walk This Way," five years before Anthrax's "I'm The Man," six years before Faith No More's "Epic," and a decade-plus before Limp Bizkit! Paul was WAAAAY ahead of the curve!!! So why ain't he gettin' no creditz? Seriously, check dis dope-ass freestylin' lyric:

"Street hustler comes up to me one day and I'm just walkin down the street mindin' mah own bid'ness

Now he looks me up and he looks me down and he sez HEY MAN

What be this? And what be that? And why you gotta look like that?

I just looked at him I kinda laughed and I said HEY MAN, I am cool, I am THE PRIEST!"

DAAAAAAAAAMN! THAT'S SHEER MOTHAF*CKIN STREET POETRY DAWG!

Worrrrrd up! You GO Star-Child P! Bust'em off somethin PROPER! Knum'sayin'?? :pimp:

The first time I heard that tune I thought to myself "is he rapping"?????

I still love the song and album and yes Paul was way ahead of this time as you said.

I was kinda shoveling it with both hands on that prior post, as I guess you could tell. But I'm glad you agree with me!!

Back when I first heard that song (circa '83) I had no idea what "rap" was so I didn't know what the hell Paul was doin' there... I think we called it "talk singing..." :lmao: What did we know, we were a bunch of suburban white boys!!!

    • Safe, but a nice song.  Did they name their band after a random HEAT song?
    • Really good band, but haven't heard from them in an absolute age. Shame if all they're doing is a few covers.  The 'Bye bye bye' cover is killer.  'I want it that way' is a great song anyway, but their version is gold. Love that.  But just to prove you can't polish a dog turd, no one could make 'Thriller' sound listenable to me.  Amplified even more with 'Believer.' No Imagine Dragons song should ever be covered or allowed to be acknowledged that it was even actually recorded. Horrendous band and I hate the cover only a tiny bit less than the original, which is a tonne.
    • Kickin' riff. This is a cool tune indeed. New album sounding promising.
    • Doesn't do much for me. Not sure it's any better than what I've heard from the new BJ album... but I guess it's not too bad. Wouldn't play it again, though.
    • Bit 50/50 on it, myself. I prefer the stuff on Mick's solo album, but it's not a bad song. That kind of solo in a Motley song definitely sticks out... but not in a bad way. It's cool. I dig.
    • Did they actually break up? They were releasing albums annually and finally fixed up the production end but haven't heard from them for a while now. Always loved everything they released, personally.  Edit - yeah, 'Be Here' from 2020 seems to be the last album. Allegedly still active, but obviously no recent albums. Would love to hear them add to the discography.
    • Released back in 2019 on vinyl only in most of the world, the only place it could be purchased on CD was Japan. It is finally available on CD to the rest of the world with the addition of two bonus tracks. One is the usual "bonus" track of a live recording of Go man go, and the other is the song Don't give up which was released at the start of the pandemic as a single. https://townsendmusic.store/product/140275?lf=035f179d9c80928d2d3b155fa72b0731 Follow the breadcrumbs to a sonic treasure trove with Alice Cooper's "Breadcrumbs" EP, which will be available on CD for the first time ever, featuring additional bonus tracks on this edition! Originally released in 2019 as a limited-edition 10" vinyl record, "Breadcrumbs" is a tribute to the garage rock heroes of Alice Cooper's hometown of Detroit. The EP features six tracks that showcase Cooper's raw and energetic take on classic Detroit tunes, including Suzi Quatro's "Your Mama Won't Like Me", Bob Seger's "East Side Story", and the MC5's "Sister Anne". It also includes the two additional bonus tracks "Don’t Give Up", conveying Cooper’s message of hope and perseverance to his fans during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a live version of "Go Man Go" from his electrifying set at Hellfest 2022. The album featured a star-studded lineup of Detroit musicians, including Wayne Kramer of the MC5, Johnny "Bee" Badanjek of the Detroit Wheels, and Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad. "Breadcrumbs" marked the beginning of Alice Cooper's homecoming, a journey that culminated in the critically acclaimed studio album "Detroit Stories", released in 2020. This EP served as a taste of Cooper's profound affection for his hometown's rich musical heritage, making it an essential addition for any devoted fan of the shock rock icon.   1. Detroit City 2020 2. Go Man Go 3. East Side Story 4. Your Mama Won't Like Me 5. Devil With A Blue Dress On / Chains Of Love 6. Sister Anne 7. Don't Give Up (Bonus Track) 8. Go Man Go (Live At Hellfest 2022) (Bonus Track)
