DYNAZTY - Knock You Down (90%)

glad someone else loves this album! Can't believe is featured so poorly in many end of year lists. Awesome killer mhr.

not a single album in this world can please everybody. I got bunch of friends who also think WORK OF ART or JOURNEY is just plain boring, well even though I secretly think they're out of their mind, to each their own and who are we to judge ? :D

Granted, but we are talking about a board of people who love this genre. To me Dynazty produced an album full of kick arse mhr.....what's not to like?

I'm sure I'm one of these people. I have still not heard the "proper" version if it is out there, but the one I have sounds like it was recorded with a tin can drumkit, but more than that I don't think any of the songs really blew me away anyway. But admittedly the production has put me off really giving it a real go.

I had only heard the mp3s and I loved it and didn't notice anything about the sound.

I just ordered the Euro version from Amazon and it should be in my mailbox maybe today or Monday I hope.

Its awesome....Geoff your comment is pretty weird IMO, without filler is this album. period.

Sorry mate, couldn't agree with that. I thought there were a few 6/10's in my sexy little review. But it's not even that that's the issue. It's just that, imo, there weren't any real killers to balance out the weaker songs. I truly hope I eventually get to buy this CD and all of a sudden it's clear to me, as I'm as amazed as you that our opinions are so different on this.

But I'm only being honest. What I heard was solid but average hard rock, totally murdered by a terrible production job. I hope there's a better version out there.

Ha ha, yeah whatever. If songs like 'Sleeping With The Enemy', 'Throne Of China', 'Hunger For Love', 'Knock You Down' (vocals on the Euro version are sensational imo), 'Wild Nights', 'The Great Dillusion', 'Brand New Day' are average rock to you, then fair enough. To me each song is killer MHR.

The other songs are mainly very good too, with only 'New Sensation' maybe being average, but even that sounds awesome on the Euro version with the better production.

To each their own, but some of the discs you have above Dynazty, leaves me scratching me head.....I mean Mr Big > Dynazty ?? WTF?!.

 Mr Big had some really killer songs on it. Fillers like sin, but some gems too. Anyway, as per other thread I ordered the Dynazty CD and I will do you the service of re-rating the CD once the Euro version has sunk in. Honestly mate, if production is as good as you reckon, it'll make a HUGE difference to me, as I hated the production on the MP3s I heard.

    • My thoughts exactly
    • Some of these I have touched on in the past, but not found myself desperate to explore more. For instance 8 have hardline eclipse and also II. But that's it  Same with a few others on the list, I may have an album. So I guess I really want another Tyketto where the whole catalogue is great. If any on the list fit that bill. In the past I tried out Alfo November. The one with a brick wall in it?, Lillian Axe and a Loudness. Maybe I need to try them again. I purposefully left some off, like Vibbie Vincent Invasion because of the screechy vocals. I guess I always put Mark Free in that group as well.
    • Doesn't sound like Sweet at all but I kinda like it actually.
    • From your list and what hasn't been mentioned ,Sleeze Beez -Screwed,Blued & Tattooed and their Powertool album  ,Bezerk by Tigertailz , first two Lillian Axe , Baton Rouge - Shake Your Soul...all particular favs of mine,I have  a soft spot for Loudness - Thunder In The East also, dunno if you have Master Of Disguise from Lizzy Borden but it would be my fav by them....to be honest most of the artists on that  list I like though
    • New song 'Burning Like A Falling Star' from the forthcoming album 'Full Circle'.
    • Well, the first two "Giant" albums are quintessential, as is the "Hardline" debut. Akdo Nova's "Blood on the Bricks" is one of my all time favourites, Lizzy Borden is awesome as is the Mark/Marcie Free fronted "King Kobra".
    • So some may remember that Tyketto toured recently and aside from Forever Young, I never delved into this band. So I did, so I'd know the songs in concert and was blown away. A great band with an awesome catalog that I had missed out on. To be fair, in the 80's it was a lot harder to access and find out about a lot of the more fringe bands, that's my excuse anyway. So I now am faced with digging deeper into some other bands I've overlooked. Some of these I gave a go, and wasn't really impressed, but now I'm starting fresh with an open mind. So below is a list of bands I have eitehr never bothered with, or never really gave a proper go. Lizzy Borden is on the list and I have done a bit of their stuff and like it a lot, so I will definately dig deeper into them (I've got some older stuff and some newer stuff, but have skipped quite a few albums) But the others, fire away, tell me which bands have killer material that I'll froth and how stppid I've been to skip them. Aldo Nova Badlands Baby Tango Baton Rouge Black N Blue Britney Fox BulletBoys DAD Giant Hanoi Rocks Hardline Jetboy King Kobra Kingdom Come Lillian Axe Lizzy Borden Loudness Love Hate Quireboys Saigon Kick Santa Cruz Shotgun Messiah SleezeBeez SouthGang Tiger Tailz TNT Vain White Tiger
