Blade 1-3

Love'em!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of vampire films (just too many of the bloody things, no pun intended) but really enjoyed Blade I and II. I thought the second was much better than the first, but haven't seen the third yet. Is it good?

"Some Kind of Monster" (2004)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXCg_VpdcM8

In this absorbing (and sometimes unintentionally funny, in an eye-rolling sort of way) documentary, the members of Metallica deal with the defection of Jason Newsted, James Hetfield's trip to rehab, repair their inter-personal relationships with the help of a therapist/"performance coach" and search for a new bass player -- all while struggling to create a new album. This movie won't make you forgive them for the godawful St. Anger" disc, but at least you'll understand why it turned out to be such a mess.

I actually really enjoyed this.. No it does not forgive the GOD awful St. Anger album, but you are right it DOES explain WHY it was such a mess.. It also shows Lars can be a total douche at times....

Dude, they were ALL douches in their own way. Lars and James are both control freaks, and poor Kirk was a yes-man caught in the middle who just wanted to play music, maaaaaaaan. I felt bad for him, but by the same token I was like "for Christ's sake, grow a set and stand up to those two a**holes, Kirk!"

I also wanted to seriously punch Bob Rock. I don't see how anybody in the Metallica camp could possibly take that full-of-himself choad seriously. He reminded me of David St. Hubbins from Spinal Tap. (there's even a physical resemblance!)

"Rock N Roll High School" (1979)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duryvtnopOA

At the dawn of the 1980s, Vince Lombardi High is run by the iron fisted, rock n roll hating principal Miss Togar (Mary Woronov). Fortunately, lifelong rock n' roller Riff Randell (P.J. Soles) and her friends band together to show Miss Togar the error of her ways with some help from the Ramones -- and some high explosives.

This classic flick intro'd me to the music of the Ramones when I was in my teens and it's been one of my favorite films ever since. I honestly have lost count of how many times I've seen it. I can quote the dialogue along with the characters chapter and verse but I never get tired of it.

This movie belongs on everyone's shelf right next to "This Is Spinal Tap," "Rock Star," "Detroit Rock City" and "Decline of Western Civilization II."

  • My Little Pony

Hackers.....dated but okay flick...

"Hack the planet!"

28.8 baud modem...cool!

I've only seen this once. It was at PAX (Penny Arcade Expo), a gaming convention in Seattle, in a room of over 200 nerds. I can't imagine seeing it in any other atmosphere. I thought the film was terrible, but, because it was so dated, these nerds just chewed it up. It was hilarious.

    • I have been a Band Maid fan since their early days (2015) as I really don't mind foreign vocals as long as the music is great, but I always kinda avoided Babymetal as I saw a video of them once and really wasn't impressed with the kiddy vocals, so never gave them another chance. Fast forward to now and on the back of the collab with Electric Callboy I have decided to give them a go. I thought they had a huge discography as they have like 25 albums, but on closer inspection it is only four studio albums and 21 live albums. As I am not a fan of live albums anyway, I decided to buy the four studio albums as they are all quite cheap. Have to say there music is a mixed bag, but overall really enjoying a lot of it. Not sure if I just picked the wrong song to start with, or if it is just that I have adapted more due to getting into a lot of weird and wonderful foreign bands over the last few years, but I am glad I finally gave them a proper go. Have to say, if this song was sung in English I think they would have a lot of fans on here
    • Babymetal - Metal resistance Babymetal - The other one
    • Enjoyed their last cd "Human Nature" remind me of a mellower Black Stone Cherry, similar to Little Caesar.
    • BlackRain - Hot Rock Time Machine Lee Aaron - Bodyrock
    • Now theres a blast from the past  I'm lucky enough to possess
    • Another i'm still awaiting the arrival of...same day release/delivery my arse Amazon  Still this is sounding like their best release thus far...they are gaining and getting better...although I did enjoy the last few albums also...but the sound/production from this one is excellent.
    • Still awaiting mine to arrive...should've been on Weds  or according to my order that was the case anyway
    • Yeah, there is a definite push on the re-releasing of their stuff this last wee while by them for some reason.
    • Interesting interview here with Bach...the last two questions/answers in particular in reference to Skid Row/Reunion etc... https://www.loudersound.com/features/people-vs-sebastian-bach-and-seb-bach-vs-the-world?utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_content=classic-rock&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2covrZvC9xSCBo0aqMdrb-qU1nfty_0b2EgkjXEJqky4jjjmEmNgnexj4_aem_AfoqfDFTPTSA8jlGrk7iVQzRORYpdsVqIjxpoIw9cPMFfOzUewS_2NC855to5qWjvm9Df9MxCY4AIaJk3EeZH0xk
