Elysium

Incredible! This is the other film you need to get to the cinema to see. Sharlto Copley is menacing. Neil Blomkamp, once again, hits us with a politically charged message. Excellent film. Go see it. My buddy worked on it.

"Daredevil" (2003)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmP3YFk_YHA

Flawed but mostly fun adaptation of the Marvel Comic stars Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock - blind lawyer by day, masked vigilante and protector of Hells Kitchen, NYC by night.

The CGI assisted stunt work is laughable and Colin Farrell's performance as the villainous assassin "Bullseye" is pure ham, but Affleck does a nice job as the title hero and the story is remarkably faithful to the original comic (except for changing The Kingpin from a big bald white guy to a big bald black guy). Jennifer Garner provides the eye candy as Matt's love interest, Elektra, and future "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau provides the comic relief as Murdock's long suffering law partner.

Not a classic but not deserving of all the hate it gets either.

I saw this for free with My wife?? She HATES it.... Me?? Eh I liked it actually.. Though Ben Affleck should NEVER play a Superhero ever again, but it wasn't as bad as everyone seems to think it was.... I liked Colin Farrell as Bullseye, sure it was pure camp, but He did it SO well.....I hear they are thinking about doing a reboot here soon.. No idea who is gonna be in it yet... Hopefully NOT Ben Affleck.... :rofl2:

As for the change in Kingpin?? I don't think they could find a big ass bald white dude, so they had to go with the guy from Green Mile.. May He rest in peace....

A lotta people hated on the movie just cuz of Affleck's involvement, but I had no problem with him playing Murdock/Daredevil. I think at the time the movie came out, he had simply become way too over-exposed due to his then-current relationship with Jennifer Lopez...and the film got caught in the post-"Gigli" backlash that also killed Kevin Smith's otherwise fine "Jersey Girl," which starred them both.

...speaking of Kevin Smith, did you notice his cameo in "Daredevil" as the medical examiner? They snuck him in there cuz he happened to be writing the Daredevil comic book at the time.

Makes sense why you watched it, then.

"Christ 0" is far better. ;}

But don't love Seth Rogen. At all.

I don't hate him, but I could do without him.

"Zombie Strippers" (2008)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekh3hsLpuSI

In this no-budget horror comedy starring former porn queen Jenna Jameson and Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund (!!), a zombie virus gets loose in an underground strip club, slowly turning all of the dancers into flesh eating undead. Inexplicably, this turns out to be great for business (?) so the club owner looks the other way as the money rolls in and the girls eat an occasional customer... until things eventually spiral out of control.

I was warned that this flick was "unwatchable" and I'd say it came pretty damn close. This isn't even the "so bad it's good" kind of bad, it's just loud, gory and dumb. "Zombie Strippers" wishes it was a bad-on-purpose, campy monster mash ala "Planet Terror" but it isn't even in the same ballpark.

District 9

Still as good as I remembered.

I really hate that movie...one of the worst sci-fi movies I have ever seen...which is why I'm staying away from Elysium...

Elysium is a whole nother beast. Sure it's directed by Neill Blomkamp, and even stars Sharlto Copley, but it's a completely different story, and it's also shot differently. I don't think you can compare them.
