Russ, you're upsetting the young kid from Canada ;)

Thanks for looking out for me. You really are a good friend.

Thought about Motley Crue aswell. I listened through the feelgood album but I don't get this party vibe, that I thought they're known for. It felt pretty moody and dark to me. Maybe I just didn't understand the album? I don't know...

I never really understood why people like Led Zeppelin, I haven't heard a single LZ song that caught me.

I do like some songs and didn't mind Mane Attraction but overall not my thing, great music but Tramp has such a whiny voice for me in a "Quint" fingers down a chalkboard kinda way :(

it was bad enough when the thread started by disparaging Extreme, but then people spoke ill of the Crue and Dokken, and now it's gotten borderline sacrilege with the inclusion of Journey, Boston, and Dio :tsk:

I mentioned in another thread how we over here were pretty sheltered from all things Boston, Styx, Journey, etc except for the few hits they had.

Dio, I mean I really like I Could Have Been A Dreamer.
Just did a top 10 dio songs search to see if there were any others I liked and couldn't imagine the sound of any of them, including Holy Diver, which I believe people generally froth.

Pretty comprehensive list and none I'd disagree with. You forgot the most important of them all, though, which is of course Van Halen.

Most of grunge periods, many 70s bandl and also many modern bands post 2000

I can live with one Greatest Hits album of bands like AC/DC, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Journey, Styx, Van Halen, Boston

I love DIO. Back in my pre-school days the Roger Glover song "Love is all" animated film clip from "The Butterfly Ball" was on early morning TV literally every morning. One of my earliest ever music memories. I think his voice imprinted on my brain.

They're so overrated I completely forgot about them.

Yeah, I will admit that I struggled with pre 1984 VH.
I mean we all love/loved Jump, Panama, Hot For Teacher, I'll Wait yeah?

Van Hagar on the other hand was amazing.

Who likes 'Hot for teacher?' If someone asked me to epitomise an 80's hard rock filler song (that to VH's credit, for better or worse, a lot of bands copied) it would be 'Hot for teacher.' Absolute garbage.

No idea what 'I'll wait' is meaning it was either so bad I forgot it or... well, that's about the only scenario.
