back again with Frontiers Records, and new album will be out by fall 2014

Very exciting news, 2 strong albums and hope the third one's also equal !

I'm pretty confident this will be top-5 candidate of this year

And looks like Joe Elliot has given them a rare Leppard track for the new album according to MR.com and he's also gonna be singing together with Nick. Harry Hess will be mastering this album

Roll on October

Wonderful news. Top slot for the year is still well and truly up for the taking, so let's see if the kids can make it two years in a row for me. I sure hope so...

I don't know, the 2 main bands that people here rave about I just can't get into(not saying they are not good or can't pick out a song or 2 that I like)but Vega and Work Of Art just do nothing for me.

Maybe because you like your music rough and heavy bro, I see you don't like AOR or too-melodic / too-sugary type of music maybe.

Probably bands like SANTA CRUZ and EDEN'S CURSE are for you

I get what you're saying, but not true. Melodic Rock is my Favorite. W.E.T.,H.E.A.T are 2 of my favorites. I do like a little more crunch I guess. I'm middle ground guy ,not too lite and not too heavy.

To me Work Of Art is waaaayyyy better than Vega. I actually got tired of Vega and Nick Workman's voice irritates me and I will not buy anymore Vega releases.

  • 1 month later...

I really liked Vega's debut CD, but just couldn't get into the second one. For me it simply didn't have that one bombastic track to draw me in.

I admit I'm very discriminating judge, but I'll keep an open mind until I've actually heard something from this one. Unfortunately I keep going back to the old adage... You have an entire lifetime to write a debut, but a very short time for each of the follow-ups.

Hoping for the best. We'll see.

Vega is an acquired taste mainly because of Wokmans querky vocal style.

The last 2 albums have been really good without being killer. Hoping that this will be their crowning glory.

I think I like the new single more than any of the songs off the 2nd album, who else feels this way?

No.

Its a solid song, but I expect there to be some much bigger choruses on the album.

Pretty much confirmed this is the case too by Andrew McNeice :-)

From blabbermouth.net:

British melodic rockers VEGA will release their third studio album, "Stereo Messiah", on October 17 in Europe and October 21 in North America via Frontiers. The CD marks the band's return to the label, after the release of their debut album, "Kiss Of Life" in December 2010. The new recording features 12 songs that rock from start to finish and will leave you wanting more! It also includes the track "10 X Bigger Than Love" which DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott gave VEGA to record. He also appears in the tune dueting with VEGA singer Nick Workman.

"Stereo Messiah" was recorded over 14 days in two sessions. The hard work was completed at Outhouse Studios in Reading, home to IT BITES frontman John Mitchell. John worked with the band as the sixth member and helped VEGA achieve their most accomplished album to date. Once the CD was recorded, John completed the mixing process and then passed the bat on to HAREM SCAREM's Harry Hess, who mastered the album at his studio in Canada.

Frontiers will release a specially priced reissue of VEGA's second album, "What the Hell!", complete with a previously unreleased bonus track titled "Skin Deep".

Killer tune. Sounds a bit beefier to me too. Good ballsy sound and a nice drum sound. I was already excited about the CD, but maybe even a little more now. Released today, I'm sure it'd crucify anything released so far in 2014.

'crucify' may be a little ott, but yeah I expect this to be good.

    • Harpsichord.    I thought of it and it was random, so there you go.
    • From their FB page: Alcatrazz wish to make the following announcement: Back in late 2020 the brilliant Doogie White came in to help us out with our then already booked live dates after the departure of the previous vocalist (those dates were ultimately postponed to late 2021 due to the Covid lockdowns). We all had a GREAT time...and thus, one thing led to another and before we knew it we had made two fantastic albums and toured considerably in a nearly 4 year period. Now our schedule is getting busier and busier, as is Doogie's with his very fine solo work... and with that, the inevitable clashing of dates in our respective diaries, and needless to say, the impossibility of him being able to be in two places at one time. We remain on very very good terms with Doogie and cannot thank him enough for his contributions to the band, he is very welcome on our stage anytime, as are all past Alcatrazz alumni. Current Warlord vocalist and someone already known to many Alcatrazz fans (as co-producer and also contributing songwriter for Alcatrazz's past 3 albums) Giles Lavery will be stepping up for the 2024 live dates - and with that we will be reintroducing many songs from the Alcatrazz past, including some not played in many years. Giles's first show is 22nd of March in New Orleans, lets all make him feel welcome and please lets also give a massive thank you to our dear friend Doogie White for everything he gave to this band since 2020, he is a true pro and a great person! Doogie has a video message to the fans that we will share later today as well. Jimmy, Gary, Joe, Larry.
    • Maybe it's because I've heard GnR a couple thousand times by now, but I much prefer "Fall to Pieces" by Velvet Revolver over "Sweet Child o Mine" at this point in my life.
    • I'll have to investigate that Durbin. I'd count Striker and Mick Mars among the best metal releases as well now that I think about it.
    • Haven't picked up Saxon yet, but as far as metal goes, I love the new Durbin album as well.
    • I wasn’t thrilled with the singles as they came out, other than “The Serpent and the King”, but I’ll be damned if they haven’t grown on me while listening to them as part of the cohesive package that is “Invincible Shield”. I broke down and picked up the Target exclusive to get the three bonus tracks, and I enjoy them too. Overall, a damn fine addition to the JP discography. Is it better than “Firepower“? I’m not there yet, but time will tell. 🤔 This one and Saxon have set the bar pretty high for metal this year. 👍
    • Agree with this. Though I think you should check out Firepower. You can get it real cheap new everywhere. It is molten. I'm also enjoying Invincible very much and 2024 new music as a whole.
    • I remember my early days on the internet joining a group on Yahoo (yeah thats how long ago it was) and the woman who created the group was trying to persaude me how great Creed was, so much so that she sent me the first two albums on CD. I had no idea what they sounded like. When I played them all I could think is that they sounded like Pearl Jam, and I fucking hate Pearl Jam. I ended up trading them for something better. I can't remember the ins and outs of it, but I somehow shared my CD collection online and she noticed straight away that the Creed CDs were not listed. She asked me why and I said I sold them as really did not like them, and got something I did like. She never spoke to me again after that
