Shakra Question

I'm telling my buddy about Shakra, he's just basically going to buy one of their Cd's to check them out, kind of like a blind shot, what would your recommendations be on the most CONSISTENT!! of all their albums? I kind of like the new one, but what would you guys tell him, if you were going to buy just one of their discs? were would you start?

They are one of those bands that for the most part I like 3 to 4 songs on most of the releases. It makes for a nice comp by the band but not great for buying their releases.

Completely disagree. They usually have 3 or 4 absolutely killer tunes per release that would have been radio hits back in the day and the rest of the tracks are for the most part excellent compliments to those 3 or 4 gems.

As for the topic at hand...for me, tough call. I had never given Shakra a try until I picked up Back On Track on a whim. I loved it so I started tracking down the the other releases. So that is how I started and they have very quickly become one of my favorite bands ever. That said, I think he could get the very first CD and enjoy it just as much and then make his way forward with the 2nd, 3rd, etc. and see the progression of the band, the change in lead singers, etc.

I also prefer Mr. Wiedmer over the other two singers.

You can tell the difference?!

'Power ride' for sure.

Stranger is also a top Shakra tune for me.

Strangers one of those rat bastard that at one point was stuck in my head for something like 6 straight days, I shit you not, there was a point around Xmas about 3 years ago that i honestly could not do anything to get Stranger out of my head, I mean don't get me wrong, i can think of about any other song that would be worse to have in my head, i just hate having songs stuck in my head then to have it stuck in my head some absurd amount of time, same with the song Mystery, listen to this, I heard the song Devil Inside Of Me a total of 1 time, had a dream, and it was playing in my dream, and the person whoever it was in my dream was asking me, who sings this song(forget the fact it's not playing from anywhere just openly playing in life lol) but I could not figure the fuck out who was singing this song and i just kept thinking this fucking song rocks so hard, i eventually figured it out like later on that day when I was awake, but i think this is some kind of sign that Shakra are like Cerebral musicians, in my 34 years on earth and all the music ive heard in my life, this is the one and only time anything like this has ever happened to me, I tried not to make to big a deal about it, but it tells me something,

Hands down favorite here too. It's one of those tunes that sounds better the louder you play it. "Anybody Out There" is a close 2nd.

I didn't discover Shakra until last year. I started with "Everest" and was glad I did. After listening to 'em all, I think it's by far their best. In fact, it was only the Mark Fox stuff that I liked. I didn't get into the older stuff. And aside from "Crazy", I didn't care for anything on the new CD.

I agree with Jeff. Great band. Start with Rising. Then get them all :)

Spinning Everest right now. It starts out so strong with "Ashes to Ashes" and then quickly falls in a rut. Is it me or are Mark Fox's lyrics just horrendus?

Anyway my favs are the early stuff with Pete Wiedmer and the first one with Fox "Rising" along with the new one "Back on Track". The others like "Everest", "Infected" and "Fall" all have their moments but they don't hold up on repeated listens when compared to what came before IMO.

There are a few good songs and none of them are bad but his lyrics are really bad like a 10 year old can write better IMO.
