so, do Def Leppard do background vocals on this or what? I know Mutt kind of has that sound down pat though.

Throw a little Blue Tears in there.

Mutt was all over the first Romeo's Daughter disc - A very good and very underrated disc in my eyes.

BTW, speaking of Romeo's Daughter, check out the new cd 'Rapture', very very good indeed.

and if Shania and Mutt did a Rock album it would have sounded like this.

Every time I hear this one (written by Mutt), I can't help but imagine Shania singing it.

Track starts at 1:08

  • 2 weeks later...

Other than Jez, has anyone else checked out the new "Rapture" disc? If not, you should. Seriously good stuff with some huge choruses. It's kinda lite in places, but the quality is very high. It scores as well as the major-league stuff like JSS and H.E.A.T IMHO...

I heard a couple of tracks on You Tube - think one was 'Alive'. Was nice, but a bit lite for my tastes......

I picked up the re-issued version of RD's debut for the princely sum of £0.99 the other day ... after everything I'd read, I was expecting it to be the Second Coming of British melodic rock ... it's okay, but it'f FAR lighter than I was expecting ... it reminded me in places of Berlin (the band, not the city, obviously!)

Yeah, the debut is a good album, but slightly overrated IMO. Decent live band though.

There are a handful of live tracks on the re-issue - they're pretty good :)

I plan to get this one at some point. When I've made my purchases so far this year it's always been a little higher than I'd like to pay. It will be mine soon, though.

Overrated?? I think it was pretty underrated at the time to be honest and should have done way better than it did, considering who was involved in the writing/production and comparing it to other stuff (some good, some not so good) that was being released at the time. One of the great Brit melodic rock albums of it's day in my opinion and no mean feat for a debut album.

I've mentioned 'Rapture' before in the last few weeks, and re-iterate that people really should check it out, as it is a really great album, full of great songs and definitely one of the best albums I have heard this year so far

Jeez you guys just won't stop leaving me alone. So I bought it today. :)

I don't think either of the first 2 albums are brilliant but both have enough good songs to make them well worthwhile.

Overrated now I mean....comments like that being my point exactly (not that there were that many 'great' brit melodic rock albums, but its pales against the likes of FM, Dare, Def Leppard etc). The only songs which I thought were truly great were 'Heaven' and 'Wild Child', most of the others are OK, but nothing spectacular.

If Im honest the new Halestorm album wipes the floor with them....but hey thats just my opinion.

I really reckon the 1st Romeo's Daughter was one of the better UK melodic rock albums and still sounds great today. I bought Delectable and I wasn't as taken by that one but it's still a very good album. Haven't heard the latest yet....maybe I'll grab it over the next few months. My "best mate" at the time the 1st album came out had a promotional sweatshirt and t-shirt with the Romeo's Daughter logo's on them both......he didn't even like them but he still wouldn't let me have 'em...git

I think I saw them tour the debut at Southend Esplanade - the memory is a bit misty now

Yeah I saw them at Rockworld or Gillys (same place but known under 2 names!) in Manchester around the same time......I'm just as misty when I saw them - could even have been the Delectable tour.

Bang Tango were touring their 'Love After Death' album at the time ... I wish I'd seen Thunder there :( I missed Pearl Jam (much to my lasting regret), but I did see Catherine Wheel ... did/do you ever go to gigs at Chinnerys? I saw Hardcore Superstar there years ago ... with a crowd of about 20 people ... not to mention Ginger Wildheart (in his Clam Abuse guise) ... makes me wish I was 20 years younger ... *sob*

I went there once, but who I saw God only knows - cant remember.

Tend to use Riga Music Bar now - have seen MSG (with Schenker) and Fish there in recent times (last year or so) - both brilliant gigs.

I was at the Fish gig with my dear lady wife ... she STILL isn't happy that he didn't play 'The Company' :)

    • Hold on soldier, I'm hoping that wasn't aimed at me. I don't think I was putting anyone down, and as far as I know, I'm not an atheist either. I don't actually know. I can't stand all this label rubbish and don't have a label for my thoughts on this stuff. Yes, I believe you are born, you live and you die and that's the end of it. But they're just my thoughts.  Anyway, why are we talking about Christmas now anyway? Still almost 30 days to go...
    • Agree, love that Irish girl type look. Tans are overrated!
    • Only humans were created in the image of God, and most consider that to mean possession of an eternal soul. However, the animals were put on the earth for humans to have dominion and use plus care for them. As for Heaven, we can't know what it will be like, but in my mind it would not be heaven if there were not dogs for me to hang out with, so I expect that yes there will be animals, otherwise how is it heaven for an animal lover? This view of heaven being in the clouds, wearing robes and playing harps is mostly an atheist's invention to mock what they can't comprehend. To try and explain heaven to an atheist is like trying to describe the sky to someone who has had their face buried in mud their entire lives. It's a rather fruitless and usually thankless task. I know atheists have their pile of dirt and nothingness to look forward to (lol). Yes, I am aware that atheists have invented this concept of "ascention" through genetic evolution or artificial immortality as a replacement of heaven in your religion, but I'm not sure how atheists rationalise an incorporeal existence in their concept of pointless nothingness. It doesn't bother me either what you atheists believe, I just wish you weren't so arrogant about your nihilistic mindset and cease with the put downs of those who don't share your belief set. And merry Christmas my pagan friends! I genuinely mean that.
    • Haha. Been decades since I had any discussions like this on the forum and I definitely do not want to revisit, but as my mind is always ticking over I was actually thinking about stuff the other day. So if we (humans) get a fancy afterlife kickin' it with Jesus and God n' stuff, do animals? When an ant dies, does the ant experience Heaven? Does a dog, or a cat? An elephant? Do all beings experience Heaven (or hell too, I guess, if they didn't follow the gospel?). Or do only humans experience Heaven, and if so, why do animals have a pointless existence but there simply must be something more to a human's life other than being born, living and dying?  Genuinely curious, compadre. I used to have many discussions with Mark (metalmaniac777) back in the day and we're still best buds and we even made love a few times. I'm sure he doesn't mind me disclosing that. So seriously not having a dig, but I live to learn.
    • lol. Really interested to know if they get any takers. Solid wad of cash, $7500. Mildly interesting they still use a photo of the band with Lexxi in it, assuming they haven't replaced him yet?
    • Yeah, I got a bit of a Degreed vibe from it too. Quality stuff.
    • My wife had the news on this afternoon and I saw this mind numbing horseshit panic-splashed across the headlines. I thought wow, this sounds alarming. But I heard B.1.1.530 is going to hit even harder. To be honest, though, they called it something else on Aussie news, though - Cock Makers variant, or something like that. I seriously can't remember, but they actually had a name for it rather than this morse code version of it.  Anyway, 95% vaccinated in NSW and we still have to walk around like moron beatshit brains with our face masks on - mandatory - in all indoor settings. Mask rules weren't even this harsh for the majority of the pre-vaccine pandemic. Fuck me I love this cuntry.
    • Yes, very nice, but unfortunately a distinct lack of "Titties" on show! FFS! This isn't the "Do you want to Bang your Librarian?" thread!
    • Not for me, but have at it bud.
    • Titties not kitties.
