heaven&hell
Over it Blabbermouth Ozzy is claiming to be looking for a new guitar player who supposedly could be John 5 Lowery or some guy from Greece(most likely Gus G from Firewind). But this seems to all be news to Zakk Wylde who claims to have been working on the new Ozzy disc for some time. From Ozzy: Ozzy Osbourne has revealed to Classic Rock magazine that he is currently searching for a new guitarist for his solo band. Classic Rock caught up with Osbourne last week at the Slash & Friends gig in Norway, where the whispers backstage had guitarist John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, ex-MARILYN MANSON) lined up as a possible replacement for Zakk Wylde… "Well, I'm getting a new guitar player as we speak," Ozzy told Classic Rock, "and everyone has been saying to me for a long time, 'Get Johnny 5!' And I tried him at one time and I didn't really give him a chance. We'll see, I don't know. I haven't fallen out with Zakk, but Zakk's got his own band, and I felt like my stuff was beginning to sound like BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. I just felt like I wanted a change, y'know? "I've got a guy from Greece coming in — not the musical, the country of Greece — but I'm not going to say too much about it, 'cos I don't know myself at this point. I've got a new album, I'm working on it as we speak. I've got a studio at my house and I've got a guy called Kevin Churko, the guy that did the last album [Churko also worked on Ozzy's 'Under Cover' album, produced CHEAP TRICK's highly rated 2006 album 'Rockford', and has credits on releases by BRITNEY SPEARS, CELINE DION and SHANIA TWAIN] — he's great to work with. "And it's great to have your own studio. On one hand it's great and on the other it's not, 'cos when you're at the studio you can go, 'Sorry darling, I can't get home for dinner, I'm stuck at the studio…' But she can fucking come down stairs now! But I'm just enjoying my life now…" Classic Rock: So you're taking it easy recording this album? Ozzy: "Oh yeah. Zakk came down and did a bunch of stuff and I don't know if I want to use it but I've got it there if I do. And this Kevin Churko is a bit of an all-rounder so I'm getting back to basics in some respects. One thing about a guy who can't do all the finger-tapping stuff is that he plays better on the riffs 'cos it's not all [hums riff for 'Iron Man' followed by over-the-top widdling]." Classic Rock: Does HEAVEN & HELL having a new album out make you more competitive? Ozzy: "No. Not in the slightest. I really wish them well. I mean I've been out of that band three times longer than I was ever in them. But people say, 'What do you think about Dio?' He's great singer. I've grown up since the days when I used to get pissed and slag him off. For whatever it's worth, good luck to them. I don't want to make enemies — I made enough when I was drinking, I try to make friends with people these days!" From Zakk: Wylde, who originally joined Osbourne's band in 1987 as the replacement for Jake E. Lee, posted the following message earlier today (Friday, July 10) on his Twitter account: "I'm doing BlizzCon [convention in Anaheim, California] with [Ozzy] in August and supposed to finish up the [new Ozzy] CD in September…. This" — referring to Ozzy's comments to Classic Rock — "is news to me." He added, "I haven't heard anything about this. Until I talk to the Boss, I don't know. I love Ozzy." This could all be bullshit or one wonders if Zakk's drinking has got him in trouble again as it did back in the mid 90's. Of course as one poster at Bmouth has put it "that's what Zakk gets for talking shit about Bruce Dickinson and Iron Maiden".
All Nights Reserved
Maybe a new guitarist is a good solution... I mean I love the 'Black Rain' album but it really sounds like Black Label Society and Zakk is far away from his genuine style that he owned in the early 90's. Who knows? Dead Planet
It wouldn't hurt for Ozzy to change guitarists because his stuff does sound like BLS.........some fresh blood would be welcome...

I fuckin' hate that scumbag ever since the IRON MAIDEN incident I was a huge Zakk and BLS fan up through the Mafia release but after the Maiden incident and the shit he said I've had trouble listening to them. Of course I do give him respect for always standing by Ozzy and one would wonder why Ozzy would dump him after so many years of loyal service. If he does sign up Gus G from Firewind that could be interesting but I'd rather him get back together with Jake E Lee if not on a permanent basis at least to write some tunes. whiplash1972
Am I the only person on the planet who missed the Maiden comment? What the heck did he say? I missed it too. I remember the whole she-bang with Sharon and Maiden going at it... http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/interv...ron_maiden.html I'm guessing it's all about the same incident(s). Here's some comments from Zakk: http://www.metalunderground.com/news/detai...fm?newsid=15198
Fat Freddy
Zakk's a mongoloid. Then again, so is Ozzy. They're made for each other.

I don't know which is more loony, tho, Ozzy seems to be that way naturally(?) , but Zakk mixes in drinkin'.....not a good thing.....but then again, neither is Sharon, imo! She's the one that really starts/mixes some sh*t.....I can't find the mute button fast enough when she's on the boob tube!

Here's some comments from Zakk: http://www.metalunderground.com/news/detai...fm?newsid=15198 Without reading that link I think the quote in regards to Dickinson was somewhere along the lines of "Act like a cunt get treated like a cunt". That whole fued was all over Blabbermouth. I loved Trivium for refusing to throw eggs when they were asked to by Sharon. I'm sure that's going to keep them from ever being on an Ozzfest again but they don't need them.
bangerdave
Love Ozzy but Zakk and Sharon need to grow up and shut up.Iron Maiden are a amazing band live and Bruce still wails like like a demon with it's nuts cut off.
T-BONE
Ozzy has hired Gus G from Firewind to play a show at BlizzCon.... I wonder if he'll end up permanent? http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermo...wsitemID=125635 If he does, I'll bet that Ozzy will get more of a "Metal" sound back on his albums and get away from the BLS Sound he's been sporting for 10-15 years
Captain Howdy
To be honest, I couldnt care less what Ozzy says about Bruce or what Bruce did or didnt say about Ozzy, all I give a shit about is the music. Fuck, if i gave a shit about idiots talking shit or just being general dicks, I would stop listening to loads of bands. Just for the record, I know some people who know a lot of rock musicians, and by all accounts, Bruce is an annoying twat as well. Wouldnt surprise me in the slightest if the whole incident at Ozzfest was caused by egos behind the scenes long before the show started. Ozzy is lead by Sharon, who we all know is a cunt, but I wouldnt mind betting Bruce isnt a total innocent in this, even if most of what Zakk said, is bullshit. If Ozzy continues to release good music, I will buy it. If Maiden continues to release good music, I will buy it. Couldnt care less about their little bitch fights. Nelson
An absolute killer player. But what was the comment that I read? That his writing is kinda cheesy?
SamboraRocks86
I have alot of respect for Zakk as a guitarist, hes got a signature sound which to me defines a good guitarist from a bad one (which is personally what i'm tryin to achieve, individuality and that trademark sound) Paul Gilbert is a good example here, good songwriter, good technical player but his solos seem to lack any originality....with Zakk, hes got the technical part but he also has his sound....if that makes sense... of course the irony is that him having his own trademark sound got him fired in the end.....so maybe a signature sound isnt such a good thing... to be honest, im not sure, as a guitarist, what makes a better musician....a signature sound and style or the ability to "be water" and change to suit whatever you're playing to at the time... Fat Freddy
Now Zakk Wylde is in the hospital due to blood clots in his lungs, according to Blabbermouth... geez, first he gets dumped by Ozzy and now this. If it weren't for bad luck he'd have no luck at all.

All Nights Reserved
Gus G is way too overrated IMHO. Nice player but nothing special. Zakk at least has a style...
gener8tr
I've been an Ozzy fan since 1982 when I was in 4th. grade, and I've seen him many times during the past 3 decades. That said, I will NEVER pay to see him live again. He came to Portland with Rob Zombie a couple of years ago and his show was so bad I seriously considered walking out. This after I saw him in Auburn, Washington a short time before on the Sabbath reunion tour with Maiden. His voice was so bad he left the satge for nearly 1/2 hour... I'm not kidding. The dude couldn't sing a note, spiked him microphone on the stage and walked off. Sharon finally escorted him back (by the ear) 25 minutes later. Sorry, but Ozzy live is now dead Hopefully his new album will be better.
