  1. Really don't like his voice but I cannot deny that he had some really great tunes especially in the 80s. Like martinsane wrote (which is also one of my favorites) Steal Away The Night - how can you deny that. Also very interesting was his choice of guitarists. Randy was his best.
  2. As much as I love the studio recordings of Randy Rhoads, I'd still go with Tribute. Also love No Rest and Ultimate Sin. Although I love the playing of Brad Gillis on Speak of the Devil, I would have preferred hearing him play those Ozzy/Randy songs. But still killer guitars on Speak....
  3. Th That is true, Steve rules live, but when you take away Ratt's flashbombs you still have Warren. I think Warren is the most over-rated guitarist (well there's Joe Perry) in the hair metal genre. I prefer Robbin Crosby's solos in Dancing Undercover. I'd go with KIX. Did you like Detonator? That one (Detonator) is one of Ratt's album that I haven't heard. Last one I heard was the one with Carlos Cavaso. I think I've owned three CDs/tapes each of Ratt and Kix and those are what I base my comparison and choice.

  5. LOVERBOY - Loverboy Classics - Their Greatest Hits THE CAST - Heavy
  6. I'm not sure if this RED BOX DVD/Video Games Rental is available in the U.S. but they're certainly in WalMarts here in Canada. Just a heads up - try typing in TRYME in the PROMO CODE when and see if you're going to get a free rental. That shows how cheap I am. The rental is just a dollar and seventy five and I'm still going for a free rental.
  7. Not a bad source. Not a bad source indeed. For the past several months, I haven't been to my favorite CD store in Calgary and nothing can be scored in our city's 3 CD stores. There had been some weeks of nothing but when good titles come up, I just made sure that I'm there.
  8. from my only source of CDs as of late - Value Village (a thrift store) BELLADONA - S/T
  9. KIX - Hot Wire ($2.00) I already forgot how good this is.
  10. As much as love Judas Priest, I didn't enjoy Point of Entry. I guess I would choose Blizzard and Mob Rules
  11. I would definitely listen to it once it's released. I still listen to Feel The Steel from time to time at work.
  12. They still hold up their appeal, for me at least. Just yesterday, I saw a cassette tape collection and it still looks good to me. Maybe because I grew up looking at vinyl and cassette tapes at record stores.
  13. from Value Village thrift store: Boulevard - S/T (1988) - $1.99
  14. I still haven't started this ILLUSTRATING ... because I'm still going through my THINKERTOYS - A Handbook of Creative-Thinking Techniques (Michael Michalko) and whenever I'm in the washroom - BANG YOUR HEAD The Rise and Fall of Heavy Metal (David Konow)
  15. Lady - Stryper Together As One - Stryper I played the heck out of that Together As One when I first heard it.
  16. What you doin' on the island? I found some pretty cool albums out there last year. VACATION. Where did you get them? Lyle's Place in Yates Street? That's the only one that I went to yesterday. Didn't go to that CD store near Chinatown. Fascinating Rhythm in Nanaimo. 51 Commercial St. I believe that's where I went. Even if it's not, you should still go there. Stuart McLean rates it in the top 5 record stores across Canada. Where are you staying? Victoria? Yes we stayed in Victoria but we're finally home now. Didn't go anywhere else (in terms of CD hunting). I was really happy that there was still a place like Lyle's Place. It's a very traditional/old style Record/CD/Cassette, T-shirt, pins, etc. that you'll expect. There are not that much around like that place anymore. Anyway, I'm very happy that I'm back home in Alberta.
  17. Just heard a DJ from a classic rock station just a few hours ago regarding the "outcry" on Tweeter and other social media because of Affleck as Batman. And he has one very simple solution to those who hate the idea: don't watch the movie - Period. I think it's not the end of the world whether Affleck, Will Smith or Nicole Kidman will play Batman. If Christopher Nolan will be at the helm as director or even as producer, I think it will be good.

  19. Andy Lyons or Rob Rock - I don't care. I love the 1st album (well, that's the only one that I have in my iPod). I thinks this Dennis Cameron was/is the only guy in White/Christian metal who can come close to Rex Carroll.
  20. I found a CD store here in Vancouver Island and these two I got: Guitars That Ruled The World - Compilations ($0.99) Ozzy Osbourne/Randy Rhoads - Tribute
  21. I've heard it, have it on my Ipod and don't listen to it that often. While it's not that bad, it doesn't really deserve that $249.69
  22. Oh yeah, Stefan... ready for another trade?
  23. ...but how about the elder brother who is just coming in from work? He should celebrate and be glad, because these children were dead and are alive again; they were lost and are found. AMEN! and Right on!
  24. There seem to be a few prodigal children making their way back home. Someone get me the fatted calf. ...but how about the elder brother who is just coming in from work?
  25. I've been listening to this guy. Very heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin. Anybody has heard of this guy? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybrt4mWFttY
