Dio - The Very Beast Of... Vol. 2

Stumbled across this one @ WalMart (!) this AM. I'd never even heard of it and was about to pass on it cuz I usually don't bother with compilations but it had a couple of unreleased tracks on it incl. "Electra" from the uncompleted "Magica II" and "Heavy Metal Will Never Die" with David Feinstein of the Rods. Neat-O.

...besides, my wife bought herself a frickin deluxe 2-DVD edition of the two "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" movies so i sez "If you're getting yourself a treat, then I'm getting one too!" :D

It's a good comp for those that don't have those 2 tracks or the later day albums. I wasn't crazy about their picks for the track listing and the cover is pretty damn cheesy but I'm happy the later day albums are getting some attention especially Magica and Killing the Dragon.

Oh yeah, the cover is awful. I almost left it on the shelf just because of that. :rofl2:

The three "new" tracks sold me on it though, besides it was only ten bucks and it was also such an odd thing to find in a WalMart, I couldn't leave it there.

'nother one from GoHastings....

Ace Frehley - Anomaly

Ordered it "Used" for 2.49, it arrived new & still sealed... and it's the goofy ass digi-pak version that unfolds into a pyramid shaped thingy, presumably so you can use it to contact Ace on his home planet of Jendell, or whatever.

Cool album, dumbest gimmick packaging ever.

I like most of it except for that godawful "Little Below the Angels" where he has the conversation with a 5 year old girl in the middle of the song.. ("Daddy, did you ever see an angel?" "Sure, sweetie.. .and it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen in my life"... :puke:)

    • So some may remember that Tyketto toured recently and aside from Forever Young, I never delved into this band. So I did, so I'd know the songs in concert and was blown away. A great band with an awesome catalog that I had missed out on. To be fair, in the 80's it was a lot harder to access and find out about a lot of the more fringe bands, that's my excuse anyway. So I now am faced with digging deeper into some other bands I've overlooked. Some of these I gave a go, and wasn't really impressed, but now I'm starting fresh with an open mind. So below is a list of bands I have eitehr never bothered with, or never really gave a proper go. Lizzy Borden is on the list and I have done a bit of their stuff and like it a lot, so I will definately dig deeper into them (I've got some older stuff and some newer stuff, but have skipped quite a few albums) But the others, fire away, tell me which bands have killer material that I'll froth and how stppid I've been to skip them. • I like the album art. I love when contemporary Glam Metal bands have album art with a genuine 80s vibe to it.
    • Nope, for a while, I used to think Rapunzel from Tangled (2010) was hot... But then I stopped being attracted to cartoon characters.
    • This is definitely the first time I've heard about it, I'll have to give it a listen!
