  1. And just one last thing. Try putting these lyrics over the chorus melody of 'The Shocker': I love God 'Cause his son died for me He is my saviour! See, it could be a lot worse than 'Two in the pink and one in the stink...' But I think this is why I'm so against what you guys are saying. I have a deep, pure hatred for religion and christian lyrics that runs well beyond my bones. And I've not hidden that. But just because I don't think much of the guys in Disciple, Holy Soldier or The Brave (debut) on a lyrical level, would I actually discard music that good because they have terrible lyrics and I think they're idiots? No, as my case has always been; Good music is good music. If I can look past my most hated subject matter on earth for the sake of a good song, can't see why you can't dig this. In an over-the-top way, at least we can all relate to Steel Panther - if not literally, at least from the depths of our sick little minds.
  2. Thanks mate, nice to see you prowling around here like a hungry breast monster again.
  3. The big difference between Steel Panther and The Darkness is that The Darkness genuinely sucked, no matter what way you look at it. Even you clowns have admitted that if not for your taking offence to the lyrics () you'd acknowledge 'Feel the steel' as a good CD. As I said, I'm not "banging on about this at every second" on my own accord - merely replying to people taking unjustified potshots at it. The "hype" thing amuses me too. For my music needs I only ever visit this site and sometimes the Melodicrock.com Noticeboard. As Sambora pointed out, there are all of about 4 or 5 people here who are vocal about liking it. And I saw maybe the same amount on the Melodicrock.com Noticeboard. So my question is, where is all this hype I'm supposedly being sucked in by? Glen posted a thread with a link (sadly I'd missed Howdy's the first time round), I loved what I heard, pre-ordered the CD and in the mean-time Howdy and Jay very kindly hooked me up with all the Metal Shop / Metal Skool tunes which blew me away. So where in that process did hype come into it? Aren't you guys who didn't really like it and knew you'd get sick of it the ones who believed the hype and bought it anyway? In the UK there may be some big fuss about these guys, but let me assure you - there are probably 5 people in Australia who might even own this CD and there is and will be no hype here for this band.
  4. *SNAP* *CRASH* Wow, that was Big Bird. That'll teach him for sitting on a perch outside my window peering it at me.
  5. Nowhere near the quality of HEAT imo, but there are BF moments. BF are probably just a little more consistent though.
  6. Even if they released albums of Journey cover songs I reckon they ought to overtake Steel Panther in your list mate. You mean on my 'Worst of 2009' list? Nah, Fair Warning already have that position covered mate.
  7. Yeah, I'd actually be pretty offended if you guys are implying I'm one of these bandwagon jumpers. What, now I can't even enjoy an excellent band I genuinely love because there's a lot of hype around them? In that case, did you The Darkness fans jump on that bandwagon too? And how's that going for you now? Just one other point. I think Fair Warning are terrible and the new CD is absolute and total shit, but dudes, if that's the way you roll, roll that way. If that is legitimately your favourite CD of the year because you'd somehow get past those awful songs and like them more than the rest of what 2009 has offered, that's your right to party. The only thing that I've found really silly (well, one of two things) about this whole argument is the people saying that this can't actually be your favourite CD of the year. I just don't get it. Where I come from, if a band writes the best songs of 2009, records the best songs of 2009 and releases the best songs of 2009 on CD... doesn't that make that the best CD of 2009? As I said, for me, only 'The Shocker', 'Eatin' ain't cheating' and 'Fuck all night (party all day)' didn't make it onto my Ipod. That's 8 songs that did, plus 'I want your tits'. That's a higher presence than any other CD this year, so it's my favourite disc because I still love those 3 other songs too. In fact, 'Eatin' ain't cheating' is on the verge of getting on there. LOVE that riff after the solo. And who knows, if I get past fuckface Hawkins and the 'hey hey hey's then 'Fuck all night' might get there too. The lyric debate is just stupid. I still haven't seen one example of these supposed great lyrics that Steel Panther lyrics are so poor in comparison to. Why? Because there are none. It's only rock n'roll and being rude and funny does not mean being any worse than serious and cliche.
  8. Jeebers fupping cripes! I am willing my co-worker out of the office so ferociously it's not funny so I can spin these babies! One a side note, cool cover. I like that.
  9. Wow, there you go. Can't lie and say I was ever a fan, but there was no mistaking that voice. Very unique. R.I.P. Midnight.
  10. Hate to ruin your day mate but that one is shit. Not the worst ever, but it didn't stay in my collection for very long.
  11. 'After All The Love Is Gone' - Alias
  12. Alias - s/t ; timeless... but seriously, what the f*ck were they thinking with 'The Power'. Absolutely dreadful. Thankfully most of the rest is perfection (except 'What to do' and the last track).
  13. I just caught that ballad 'Apologize' from these guys. Very cool tune! I downloaded it immediately. It is just me or does he sound like a dead ringer for Cinderella on the chorus? Yep, definitely mate. That one is really a great song and by far the album highlight, imo.
  14. Wow, nice. In all honesty, along with Skid Row, Dokken, Firehouse and LA Guns (Assuming it's the Phil Lewis fronted version only) the Kivel bands are easily the best in that whole line up. I obviously love Bret Michaels, but can take or leave his solo stuff.
  15. Fucking time? Sounds like the good times to me.
  16. Thanks mate. Party at my house. Which is my pants. Party in my pants!
  17. Yeah, backed. It looks like those clothes she's wearing are having a hard time keeping those things concealed. Lucky pieces of cloth.
  18. Nah, I don't mind that. At least that will likely result in the end of a human. Filing papers has no positive side. You should file them in that fire just to the left of you. I already did. Now they want me to file the ashes. Don't file the Ashes, they are coming back to England in a few weeks mate. Speaking of which - Still no Dave - Where the fuck is he? No idea where Dave is. Unfortunately unless he has Foxtel (our pay TV) or is looking at spending the wee hours of the morning at the local pub, not sure he'll see any more of this than I will. Shame, I'd love to see what the Aussies look like in victory - it's been quite a while since I've seen that sight. And Ian, backed with those other dudes. I wouldn't take a single thing she says to heart... just harsh words from a bitter person, mate. You don't need to put up with that shit.
  19. Interesting. Will the 2nd one be remastered too? I have this one, but I always wanted a non-CDR of their 2nd one.
  20. Here's my quick summary: This is easily better than any CD any of the members have released in their other bands (except maybe 'Busted' by Cheap Trick) but that's not really saying much when you look at the cast. So just how good is it, then, based on that? Well, it's not bad. Tracks 1-5 are all good solid pop rock tunes with great hooks. Then, they completely jump off the cliff for tracks 6-9 starting with 'Without love' which is a blatant, awful filler as are the next 3 tunes. Track 10, 'Doncha Wanna' sees them try to pick up the pieces and salvage the disc with a pretty cool song. Not great, but the best since 'Back with You' (track 5). Thankfully, they close the album in style with another cool pop rocker, 'Take Me Back'. So at the end of the day you have 6 and 1/2 good tracks from 11. Not bad stats by my summation. I do admit I don't like the "retro" vibe at all on this disc and it's not exactly going to tear up my top 10, but for a bunch of shithouse artists from shithouse bands, they've come up with a pretty damn good disc, imo. Check it out.
  21. Love those 2 EPs. If you can get them, 'The sketch process' and 'That's what she said' (both from 2008) are worth owning if you're going to invest time in this band. The songs on those 2 are more in a SR-71 vein as opposed to the sticky sweet pop of the debut. But the best 2 songs are still on the full-length debut, imo.
  22. Wow, 'Murder by pride' definitely has a more "vintage" Stryper vibe. Pretty good stuff. 'Eclipse of the son' also has a very old-school vibe. Not amazing, but I do like the vibe. 'The plan' is modern sounding but has a good chorus. Another good one. '4 Leaf Clover' - Uhh- killed it. Awesome intro and I thought it was going to drop into a faster paced song. As it is, pretty bland. That one's a definite filler. Shame to waste a good riff like that. 'Alive' - Pretty cool ballad. Not amazing, but decent.
  23. I was wondering that too... only I didn't know she was a she. I thought it was a dude.
  24. Nah, I don't mind that. At least that will likely result in the end of a human. Filing papers has no positive side. You should file them in that fire just to the left of you. I already did. Now they want me to file the ashes.
  25. Yeah, I was laughing my balls off when I first heard 'Turn out the lights'. Pretty much every part of that song makes me laugh aloud. And the fact that they mix the chorus up everytime with a new line makes it even more majestic. As for the line in 'Community property' about his dick being a free spirit that you can not restrain, I know of no better lyrics than that. Ever. Priceless.
