  1. Hey Monday - 'Hold on tight' ; 100% a Paramore CD
  2. Yep, new disc is definitely the pick. But seriously, try to track down that EP 'Put up or shut up' too. It's really good stuff. And I should mention, it's not a 4 track EP, it's more a 7 (I think) track mini-album. Very consistent and much rockier than 'So wrong it's right'. Also, I just heard 'The party scene'. In a word; Avoid. It's not the pop-rock kind of vibe they handle so well - more just your really standard, average modern rock attempt. Not great at all.
  3. Hey party animals. Who? Me? Oh, yeah. You. Me? You. Oh, you? No, me!

    Is it ?

I like snorkelling with manta rays. Though it's a different manner in which I snorkel around them after the whole Steve Bushman incident.
  5. Fucking crazy morning, but I'm up-to-date-ish and listening to tunes.
  6. Ha! What nonsense. So now an average band with average songs and plain lyrics is a proper band and an excellent band with killer songs and humerous lyrics is not proper? Not my maths, but if it works for you... ...And right on cue, the SP fanboy arrives. Is Ricky Ponting your dad, or is it the PMT again Sorry Toto fanboy (? I guess... or is it The Darkness fanboy? Or Cheap Trick fanboy?) but your silly comments on this subject beg to be replied to. Never have I seen you speak such consistent nonsense my good man. I learn't from the best mate and your highly amusing Ashes Rant earlier. I have just sellotaped my tits back on after laughing so much. Thanx for that. Been a Cheap Trick fanboy before you were born mate and proud. Glad you got a laugh out of it, considering the way the game is arranged is a joke. My condolences on the whole Cheap Trick thing. Fingers crossed they finally get round to releasing a second good album. At least they have done 1 good one then hey! Yep, one good one. Steel Panther already have one excellent one. Even if Steel Panther are a one hit wonder they've done better than Cheap Trick have for the 70 years they've been recording music.
  7. Just to let you guys know, I'm still watching and loving it. I'll read and reply to Wes' post when I see the last episode. Man the fiance is gorgeous!! I've enjoyed it, but have been getting a little tired with the 'Quick, let's leave the island' and the 'I can't, not until I find _____ (insert name).' Happened a bit too much through a few episodes there, but the show still rules.

    My Ashes Rant

Though here goes Jez referring back to the past - that thing he refused to acknowledge when England won something for the first time in 800 years. Pot calling the kettle there me thinks mate. Living in the past?, Try telling that to some the Yellow and green 'Bad Losers' (or drawers) over here that have been banging on about Warne and McGrath constantly over the last few days and how they would have won if they had them playing. As I said, you would have won if Ponting hadn't fucked up in the last hour of the game by playing the wrong bowlers - simple as that. Admit your error and move on I say, not 'If this' and 'if that'. I was infact just reminding you and you fellow country folk (that seemed to have forgotten ), that it didn't seem to bother the Aussies when they played desperately for a draw in 2005 Ashes thats all. They tried all sorts of shit to 'Stall' (physio and fucking around with sight screens if I recall) and we couldn't get their last batsmen out - You're lot were jumping aroung the players balcony like they had just won the game, when in fact they had had a big let off and should have lost - exactly the same situation as Sunday. Frustrating for us for sure, but we got on with the job afterwards and didn't moan about it like old moaning Ricky and a couple of his pals are doing. Move onto the next game and just get on with the next job in hand. Again, I re-emphasise the fact that I was not having a go at the Brits for abusing / taking advantage of an already fucked up set-up of rules. Like I said, I would encourage them, as I would the Aussies, to expose these shitty rules to their benefit. Why would you not? My rant is aimed at the set-up of the match alone. To me, The Ashes appear to be as worthwhile as a 5 day soccer match that ends in a 0-0 draw. What the fuck is the point of playing sport for 5 days in a row without a fucking result? Are you not understanding how pointless and fucked up that is? How about we do the next Olympics without medals? How about the next game of the only proper game ever - Rugby League - we don't keep score of how many tries are scored? What about the US Open we make it that if you can get your opponent to a 5th set it's called a draw? Do these fuckers think people have nothing better to do that waste 5 days of their life on pure insignificance? In it's purest and simplest form: In 5 days Australia lost 6 wickets and scored 674 runs. In 5 days England lost 16 wickets and scored 656 runs. Are you honestly going to sit there, even with your union jack coloured glasses and tell me that despite whatever fucked up rules govern this game, that England did not lose this contest? I don't give a fuck about people with IQ's of 14 combined designing rules for sporting events. Just like Rugby Union and NFL this event should be fucking abolished.
  9. Nice, keep the party alive.
  10. Because he called that bunch of tiring schoolgirls time-wasters? Come on man, not even you guys are that big a bunch of pussies! But as I said in my rant thread, if you design a fucked up set of rules like those who govern test cricket have done, I can't hold it against a bunch of English ponces for making those retarded rules work in their favour. Old 'Tight Sphincter' Ponting is one a miserable twat with no sense of humour isn't he? haha He's a British commentator? No I don't think he is, is he?. I suggest maybe a whiskey would help him calm down a bit and make better decisions, what do you reckon?. Ooopps maybe not hey? I don't get it, but I assume that means he was an alcoholic? Oh well, good on him. Aren't we all at heart?
  11. Who stole the pigeon?
  12. Tony Bruno, Andy Timmons and Rob Marcello all sound awesome to me. I personally think Marcello has a very true "80's sound". In a good way.
  13. Well mate, spun this a few times now and sadly what I feared seems to have happened. I always liked the samples but it was always in the back of my head that this was never going to live up to the hype. And sadly, for me it doesn't. Here's my thesis: 1. "Invincible" ; This one is a good opener, if not a little average. Doesn't have enough bite, or a good enough hook to open up, imo. 2. "Scream" ; And sadly, this continues on the average path. 3. "Dirty Little Thing" ; and rounding up a very average first three, this is the third in line. Nice sexy lyrics, but just plodding modern rock, imo. 4. "Last Stand" ; this is where the disc starts for me. Good modern rock ballad that reminds me a lot of Hinder. 5. "Hate Love" ; this is a great track - great mid-tempo melodic rocker that again really reminds me of Hinder. 6. "So What If You Go" ; solid hard rock with a killer solo. 7. "Closer to You" ; another good balld - Nice stuff. 8. "Just a Little Bit" ; decent hard rock, but again, this is pretty average stuff. 9. "All Falls Down" ; another nice ballad, but again this is really not much better than average. 10. "My Derailment" ; my favourite of the pre-album clips and the album highlight imo. 11. "Brother" ; didn't like the samples of this and it's no better on CD. Not a good song, imo. So there you go. I did really want to love this but there was always that feeling it wouldn't live up to my hopes, and to be honest it really didn't. Musically, these guys are great and there is some great guitarwork. The songs are solid but I can't help but feel they could have done a lot better, and probably have a lot of much better songs that didn't make the cut.
  14. I would ditch "Crash", but I kinda like that "S/T" from 1993. "Take Me To Heaven" is just a stunning song (love the keyboard intro) and the first 5 songs are all pretty strong - godawful production really spoils it though. I actually didn't like "Shiftin Gear" much, Sandberg's a poor vocalist (sings out of his nose) and it was so much worse than their debut. Yeah, I don't think I can hold onto 'Crash'. A truly terrible album. I do like a handful of tracks on it, but if I'm being honest with myself they're terrible songs. On the s/t I also like 'Take me to heaven' but to be honest, it's a pretty weak version of a type of song a billion Scandi bands did better, imo. But yeah, a lot of those first few songs are okay, but painfully average. And yeah, the disc just sounds terrible. It does have some marks on the inserts which might dampen it's tradability so I might just hold onto it rather than let it go for nothing. I like 'Shiftin' gear' but I agree, not even a scratch on the stunning debut. Adelitas Way - s/t All Time Low - The Party Scene Allen/Lande - The Battle

    My Ashes Rant

Yeah, real nail biting stuff. And so was washing my hair last night. Thanks to Glen for picking up what I'm putting down. I know this is how it is/has been and always will be, but that doesn't mean it's not any less fucked up than it is. I'm only just commenting on it now because it's my first real encounter with it. And I agree, the 20/20 and one dayers are vastly superior in every way. Any sport that does not guarantee an end result (which is not a draw) is a complete and utter waste of time, imo. And before a few of you get too defensive, as I said this was not a rant at the Brits... just the game itself. Though here goes Jez referring back to the past - that thing he refused to acknowledge when England won something for the first time in 800 years.

  19. I think I started the comments on the Modern stuff, and I'd add that I don't think it's all that Modern sound at all - apart from the guitar tuning and production techniques. Otherwise is classic DD IMO, just a little more AOR than their last 3 or 4 discs. Poley's clearly been a big influence on the songwriting/direction of this.... Yeah, don't worry mate. That comment wasn't aimed at you.
  20. It is a good one for sure. What have you heard from them in the past? Did you like 'So wrong it's right'? I wonder if I need to give it a second chance.
  21. I don't know if I've ever done a thread on these guys and I can't check because everything about them is less than 4 letters so I can't search. Either way, I got into this band around 2006 when they released a killer EP called 'Put up or shut up' (all also below 4 letters each) which was one of the best modern rock releases of that year, imo. Then in 2007 they released a full length disc called 'So wrong, it's right' and I have to admit I was left pretty damn unimpressed. Watered down, too poppy, weak hooks - just didn't work for me. Well, today I find out that was actually their 2nd full length disc and they released their debut in 2005. A disc called 'The party scene', which I will track down tonight and hope awfully it sounds like the EP. Anyway, fast forward to 2009 and they have just released their new CD 'Nothing personal'. And although I am yet to hear the full thing due to my car being a c*nt... it sounds like they're back on track. Full of huge hooks, there are some killer pop rock songs on offer on the first half of this CD so far. Worth checking out for those who like the poppier side of their modern rock every now and then. http://www.myspace.com/alltimelow FYI, that new single 'Damned if I do ya (Damned if I don't)' is produced by the mighty Butch Walker. Tracks: "Weightless" - 3:18 "Break Your Little Heart" - 2:52 "Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't)" - 3:07 "Lost in Stereo" - 3:48 "Stella" - 3:24 "Sick Little Games" - 3:36 "Hello Brooklyn" - 3:30 "Walls" - 3:11 "Too Much" - 4:15 "Keep the Change, You Filthy Animal" - 3:20 "A Party Song (The Walk of Shame)" - 2:59 "Therapy" - 3:44
  22. Man some of you guys could find a modern sound if someone put a 2009 stamp on Keel's 'The Right To Rock'!
  23. I can't believe how your foot looks like egg mixed with igloo fragments.

    Is it ?

I don't have it either. Not planning on it as well!! Me neither - in all honesty do I really need another format, how many times do they expect me to buy updated versions of stuff I already have - DVD will do me just fine. Plus the Blu-Ray discs have gotta come down in price a lot more before I even entertain the idea of getting a player. Exactly. Knowing I can play DVDs in Blu-Ray players means that it would not even be a contest whether I pay $5 for a DVD or $35 for a Blue-Ray disc. I'd still be buying DVDs anyway, honestly.
