  1. They are touring here soon, but I'll be overseas
  2. But being so disinterested after a first listen just does yourself a disservice . Here are 2 recent cases in point. As I mentioned on the thread, I recently gave time to Adrenaline Mob. Off Omerta, the catchy songs came later, but I persisted with the earlier songs. After a few listens Undaunted got pretty catchy and I really like it now. Psychosane got a bit better but is still average for me. then there's the new Europe album. I saw them live tonight, and they played 2 songs I initially didn't like - Walk The Earth and GTO. Walk The Earth became a killer song after 4 or 5 listens, but I never really got GTO. Yet they played it as the 4th last song of the second set, so the band obviously thinks something of it. I had hoped that seeing it live would add to the song somehow but it was still crappy for me. How about HEAT? Did you like their new album instantly? From memory it took most here quite a few listens to get in to it. If one of your favorite bands releases a new album, do you give it more of a go than a band you don't know, or have gone off?
  3. I've been thinking about this. It make all the Belly 2 Belly discussions we've had futile. Had I known that you needed to like the music on first listen I wouldn't have bothered. I get that there's an element of needing to hear as much as possible, and I wouldn't say it was lazy not to give some music a few listens before deciding, but I would say that in not doing so you're missing out as some of the songs that take a few listens turn out to be the best.
  4. When I listened to Folklore And Superstition I instantly liked the songs. So that takes that part out of the equation. I guess it's just different strokes for different folks. Was this a band you described as being like Saliva? That may make sense because I really dig Saliva.
  5. My daughter put on Jaws which was nice to watch again. Has aged pretty well...
  6. I'm kinda the same, but to be fair I really haven't given them a fair go. Less keys would please me more, but that's just a personal preference. Agree with all the drum comments. Makes the songs sound a lot 'lighter'
  7. I'm listening to an album I've had sitting for ages - Folklore And Superstition and I fucking love it. I've really been missing out. Just listed all their other albums to get based on the strength of this 2008 one. Hopefully they are as good. Shocked to see only a couple of general threads on them. Ima start with the new 2018 album Family Tree
  8. Been listening to the first 2 albums today and they are really a hit and miss band for me. Songs are either not my cup of tea at all (this includes the first 2 songs on each album), or they are great. I'm able to pick 5 or 6 songs of each album which I really like, so that's good enough for me. Great to hear AJ hitting the drums again. I don't have the 2017 album, but I'll be picking that one up soon. Look forward to their Rebel Yell cover.
  9. Extreme - Saudades De Rock Been sitting on this one for years. Every time i try I get hit with "Star" which grates the hell on my nerves. So I skip this and the next couple are pretty shit songs so I give up. Starting from track 4 it's better. One of those CD's where you'd be lucky to find 3 or 4 pretty good songs.
  10. What if....David Lee Roth had a persistent leg injury?
  11. Yep Ballers is great. Saw season one on a plane a few years ago and was sold.
  12. Always dug this CD. Interesting for me as I am a fair fan of HS ballads and this one doesn't have that tradition type ballads as much as usual. I just went through it to pick the songs for my best of folder and I selected them all. very very rare for me. Doesn't mean every song is awesome, but they are all good enough. Obviously no filler. The one which came closest to missing out was First Signal, and maybe Yesterday's Rain, but in the end I couldn't dump them. For some reason I never got the CD after this so ima track that down soon. Something to look forward to.
  13. Yeah I know, taking the piss a bit For me Rebel Yell is one of those songs that absolutely stands out amongst the pack.
  14. Each to their own. I find that some songs that instantly sound great become tired very quickly. Others take a few listens and then start to click. Examples from these Europe albums of songs that took a while would be Let The Children Play U Devil U Walk The Earth Wish I Could Believe Some that I instantly liked are Bag Of Bones New Love In Town Pictures For me I play the albums, looking forward to the songs I already like and eventually I find myself looking forward to other songs as well. Then after enough listens I pick the ones for my best of folder and I likely will never hear the other songs again.
  15. Pffft. Maybe you expect too much or don't put the time in to letting the songs work into your system. I'm not saying the last 4 albums are amazing, but there are some good and great songs on them, Sorry you didn't get to enjoy them.
  16. That's an ok song. It ain't no Rebel Yell though....
  17. yes Legionnaire is a great film. Didn't get the credit it deserved.
  18. Man, we were smacked silly with Shannon Noll when he was on Australian Idol (or one of the like shows) never really did it for me, perhaps one of those occasions where we heard it all too much...
  19. These 4 songs remind me a lot of what Frank Hannon does solo.
  20. Certainly a departure, but that's good. Just like the first Joey Tempest and Michael Sweet albums, a changeup can give great results. David Coverdale as well, although I think that may have been released under Whitesnake - can't recall now. Problem I have at times with Myles is his voice can get a bit annoying in full power mode. Having said that I've been listening to a fair bit of Slash lately and eventually I really got into some stuff after I accepted the voice. I really like these songs and will be putting this on my to get list.
