  1. Now that's how you do a cover. Bonfire should take a lesson. This is a nice version of a great song. When you attempt a song like this, you really can't improve on it, so it has to be done as an interpretation. Singer is sounding a bit like Michael Bolton lol
  2. Ironically a cloak and dagger game may have been set in place to stir up some controversy and mystique like WASP or KISS. Those days are gone. Nobody really gives a shit if it stands for Hearts Eternal Adventurous Treasure. It's more fun making fun of the name now
  3. I forgot about this. Last album was such a let down, I lose a lot of interest. I'll likely pick it up in a couple of years and wonder why I never bothered with it before...
  4. Well, aside from it all being lame with the cloak and dagger stuff, imma gonna embrace it and make some assumptions... Heathens Entrapping All Types Hell Embraces All Tits
  5. You nailed how I feel about covers. That said, I hope others out there enjoy this release. Don't expect everyone to see covers the same way I do (and possibly you do as well)
  6. Your response was funnier than mine would have been. Let me rephrase... The band seems kinda lame if the are going to play games like this.
  7. Really? Instantly diminished how I feel about the band if they are going to play little schoolyard games like that...
  8. Just like to take a second to appreciate the quality of the ass on the cover of this album. Instantly puts me in the right place to listen to the music.
  9. TBH, Bonfire are generally hit and miss with me anyway. Doesn't matter which version. Not a band I sit on the edge of my seat waiting for a new release from. But at times i really like their stuff, which is why this is a bit of a disappointment in that they are covers. But then I am kind of specific with my covers. Was just going through The Treatment and the only cover I kept off Running With The Dogs was No Matter What, others were boring. For me, you either improve on the original - that usually means updating a much older song with a cleaner and heavier sound. eg: Radar Love Or you change the original to a different version, while still respecting the original. eg: Walk This Way These Bonfire ones for me are the worst kind of covers, they are basically just re-recordings
  10. I'll get back to you in a few years with my opinion haha, imma try to get this one soon and be part of the discussion as it happens for a change....
  11. I've heard the 4 posted songs and all are underwhelming for me. I love a covers album but from what I've heard they've got it all pretty wrong and unless I hear something that bucks that trend I doubt I'll pick it up at all....
  12. How does the last release fit on a HEAT mix CD? Especially if the next one goes back to the older style. I liked the last album, but to do so had to view it separately from what I'd expect
  13. Been sitting on this probably since it was released. Listening to it now for the first time, and this is the first Bad Habit album I've heard. This is about as AOR as I get, and I have to say this is a pretty great album. I have no idea why, but I'll Die For You reminds me in some ways of ABBA. Go figure, that's kinda weird.
  14. Yeah, I love the original. Interestingly, Sly Stallone wanted "Another One Bites The Dust" and Queen wouldn't allow the ise, so he asked Survivor to write their version of the Queen song. The watched some of the movies and saw the line "you've lost the eye of the tiger", liked the line and wrote the song. Another footnote, for the next movie they were presented with that "you're the best... around" song and rejected it and it went on the get fame in the Karate Kid movie. Anyway, like I said, I love the original song, but to me it sounds a bit rawer than this version. This version doesn't suck, it's just average in the way of "what's the point" Nothing new, no new take on the song. if you're gonna redo a song like this, it has to be (as Paul Stanley would say) bombastic. This isn't. No biggie, but of all the covers are lesser versions of the originals I'll obviously have no interest. To cover a song you either improve it or do your own take on it. Simply re-recording it with newer technology and a cleaner sound etc is not very inspiring.
  15. Why are the making the songs more AOR than the originals? Very average.
  16. The Spy Who Dumped Me - actually better than I thought it would be. Fun and entertaining all the way through with a few unexpected twists, so expected Look Away - Pretty boring. Was looking like a Carrie clone for most of the movie, until it petered out with no real ending.
  17. I will likely enjoy that cover of Africa more if it's mixed in with other covers with the same general sound. Maybe
  18. Much prefer that to the other cover of this song. Very nicely produced.
  19. Will be interesting to hear. Didn't they cover The Air That I Breathe years ago? That was a great cover.
  20. Song is ok, but not really my thing. Tried really hard to like this band in the past but could never get there.
  21. ... and they wonder why people download. Hard to argue that you should have to buy an album twice...
