  1. Lost Horizon (1973) Would love another remake of this without the musical bits in it and with a harder edge to it. But still a great movie.
  2. Here's my updated list.... About 4 have been replaced, with Bad City becoming my all time fav album. 10... Robbie Williams - Escapology Most Americans either don't bother with him, or hear a song they don't like and write him off. I was in the UK when this was released, and was never a fan before then. Feel was a huge song and after a few listens I really started to like it. As I was leaving for the States I picked up the CD at the airport because I liked the song that much. The rest of the album is amazing. I saw the tour from this album back in Australia and it is still the 3rd best show I've seen. 9… Hot Action Cop - Listen Up! A long awaited follow up which doesn't let you down. They make the music they want to make, and it takes a few listens, but it worth it. 8… Shiraz Lane - Carnival Days I know, this was an album from last year, but I really do love it. It may not be in my top 10 in a couple of years, but for now it well and truly earns its spot. 7… Andy Taylor - Thunder Yep, the Duran Duran guitarist. Left the band and kicked major ass with this album. 6… Dangerous Toys - Pissed One of my favorite bands, for me this album kicks the two proceeding albums all over the place. The top of their game. 5… Joey Tempest - A Place To Call Home The singer from Europe's first solo CD and he'd obviously been storing up some great stuff that is a lot lighter and softer than his old bands. All of these are AOR (adult orientated rock) and easy to listen to. 4… Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood Only one or two tracks here which I can live without. every other one is awesome. Everything about this CD is great. 3… Loud & Clear - Disc Connected They released a few other albums, but they were average. This one however is just fantastic songs. Got very addicted to this one at the time. Still play it a lot. 2… Hot Action Cop - S/T Had a hit with 'Fever For The Flava' a few years ago, I was shocked to find that this was to become one of my all time favorite CD's. Every song is awesome. Great lyrics tell great stories, music is melodic, hooky and produced well. 1… Bad City --- Welcome to the Wasteland Now my all time #1 album. Wish we got more from them, but at least we got this.
  3. I have Corabi playing MC94 album in full in March. Just booked POP EVIL early April - this one is gonna be great. Not much love for them here, but they are one of my fav bands.
  4. Saw this one tonight. Turned out to be a pretty great cover. Interesting clip with one camera getting the most out of the shots.
  5. re: Man In The Moon I found where I saw the bit about who wrote it. From the horse's mouth at 5:15...
  6. AC/DC meets Def Lep meets Tesla and I like it. Jeff has a unique voice and it's either a hit or a miss with me. I'm a big Tesla fan, but some songs I instantly don't like, and know I won't like them ever (which is rare for me as I usually give songs a fair few listens before I come to a conclusion) Some songs I don't like are singles
  7. One of the later Bring It On movies. Worldwide Cheer or something. Damn it that I got hooked on this, but it was fun. Blade was on before it, so that was a bit of a contrast. Still a great movie.
  8. Makes me want to go over there for some fun Haven't been to MR for probably 5 years
  9. Yeah I got to the concert and I only had my phone for a couple of weeks. Supposed to have the best phone camera around. It actually has 4 cameras for different types of photos. Just before the concert started I realised that I hadn't explored how to set it up for concert shots (to reduce spotlight, better focus etc) Re Lastix, I got a notification for Slash for $59 tickets. The Bands In Town app is pretty good. I set it to email notifications. As I have a business interstate that I remotely manage, I am always checking emails, so I always saw them when they came through. As easy as selecting Maiden, Metallica, Firehouse, Night Ranger, Motley Crue and Poison as favorite bands and you'll get notifications of all bands a lot like them, as well as Chilli Peppers, Nickleback etc. Anything remotely linked to rock music.
  10. Fair enough. I read in an interview with Jamie Brown that they wrote it and gave it to The Scream or something like that. Bit ambiguous, a quick Google search brings up Robert Cavuoto: Does the CD have material written 30 years ago? Jamie Brown: There are two songs on the record that were written 30 years ago which we originally intended for them to be on Roxanne II; they were “Man on the Moon,” and “Quarter to Four.” Everything else is brand new and written just for this record. We didn’t know if those two songs were going to fit, then when we were finished writing the other material, we felt they worked.
  11. Mike got a bit wrong in the Roxanne comments. Man In The Moon was covered by the Scream, Roxanne wrote it. Fun to read through lists, but that's all they are. Picked up a few new bands to test out based on the comments.
  12. Here are some pics from the concert for those interested. I have a new phone with an awesome camera, but I haven't had time to play with it properly yet so focus is a bit off.
  13. lol, I don't mind them. My wife is a big fan, and I drag her to Slash and Corabi etc, si pay back. Sure beats Cat Power, who I had to endure. I subscribe to ticketmaster. They send emails every so often, better yet is Lastix who offer remaining tickets at 30 -50% off which is handy if you are in two minds as to whether to go to a show. Bands In Town is a fair app who let you know when bands who play the same type of music that you follow are coming out, but I don't use it much any more. Probably the best resource is Facebook. That's where I was notified about Dee Snider & Pop Evil. Also people tag you to let you know when bands are coming out, and if you follow Pages like the Hard Rock Show that will also post tours etc. But I unfollowed them after they reviewed Michael Sweet - Touched and ripped into it (which is OK) but also made fun of him and his then dying wife (which was not ok)
  14. Might hit up the Dee Snider gig tonight. Have tix for Corabi and getting my Pop Evil tix today. I've seen Corabi before and he was pretty good, can't wait for Pop Evil, that will be AWESOME. We'll be in Sydney when Red Hot Chilli Peppers are here, which kinda sucks. Faster Pussycat also touring but not a real fan of them. 4 or 5 great songs, and one of them is a cover.
  15. Slash was in town last night with Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators. THE GOOD Fair size venue. Myles said he was worried about his voice as he'd had a bug, but he actually sung very well. A lot like the records. Todd Kearns - this guy was 'on'. Engaged the crowd and looked like he was having an absolute blast. Brent Fitz held down the drums well as you'd expect. Went for over 2 hours No covers played (except Slash and GNR) THE BAD Slash has never been an animated person on stage. The most he ever really does is bounce backwards from time to time. But last night it looked like a job for him. No shit, he did not cross the half way mark of the stage once. Stayed on the RHS all night. Pretty poor given half your audience are on the other side. I was on the floor middle so not a huge deal for me at the show. The other guitarist, Frank, looked like he was a ring-in on his first night. His soul looked empty. Myles didn't really engage the crowd much. No real connection, just the odd 'how you doing tonight Melbourne!' type stuff. Missing songs - No More Heroes & The Great Pretender, but these are just my personal omissions. Only one GNR song. I get it, we were there to see the Slash show, but people were pissed, constantly asking for Rocket queen and Get In The Ring etc Given how little GNR have been to Aus, I was surprised that shortfall wasn't addressed with some more songs thrown in. May also have changed the tempo of the night a bit. The most energetic the crowd got were when Todd Kearns sung a couple of Slash songs, and when they did Starlight. But personally I didn't mind too much. My wife got us tickets for this, and they were $130, which was far too much for the show that they put on. Just a backdrop banner, basic lighting etc, it bordered on more of a pub band experience. In the end the show overall was ok. SETLIST The Call of the Wild Halo Standing in the Sun Ghost Back From Cali My Antidote Bent to Fly Serve You Right Read Between the Lines We're All Gonna Die Doctor Alibi The One You Loved Is Gone Wicked Stone Mind Your Manners Driving Rain Shadow Life Nightrain Starlight You're a Lie World on Fire
  16. Hard to pick just one, because I never really got to a point where I worshipped one. For me it's all about technical ability, writing and uniqueness. Vito Bratta was completely unique to the point that he stood right out. Slash wrote his own guitar stuff and some riffs are amazing, unlike someone like Ace where I'm sure Paul wrote a lot of his stuff Eddie Van Halen was innovative and technically amazing.
  17. Boring generic rock. Van Hagar were amazing Early Sammy post VH solo staff was great From there it's been a downhill slide for me
  18. Singer is good. Probably a better singer than DuBrow, but misses a bit of that 'it factor' that Kevin had. But this guy performs and sings well, probably well enough that I'd go and see them perform. Set list is pretty good. Wild & The Young there and all. The biggest problem they have is the way Benali went about trying to keep the band alive. Always smacked of needing an income. And I'm sure that's why other bands (eg: Warrant) are still around as well. But with them it isn't so obvious. Releasing a live in Milan CD? lol If they really have any chance they need to make a new record, probably with a Slade cover on it, and some other really good songs. I kinda wish they could do that, but probably can't.
  19. Mission Impossible movies have taken over the James Bond franchise for me. So much better.
  20. Had some customers all morning so when they left crashed on the couch for a bit. The Forrest Gump came on. So I had to watch it because it's one of the best movies ever.
  21. For some crazy reason I have Your Diamonds running in my head today. Haven't heard it is years but just played it and it's a pretty damn good song.
  22. Avengers Infinity War. Long movie to watch for a second time, but I watched again with my wife. She was kinda bored, which means that superhero movies really aren't for her, because this one was the best by far.
