  1. Cool. All you can do is listen with an open mind. With Gotthard, when Steve died, the music was never going to be as it was. To a degree they became a new band, like Warrant did with new singers, and I try to assess the material without comparing.
  2. New album 19th October Saw they have a limited release with a different album cover for some reason. This info is from Blabbermouth.... Long-running rockers SALIVA will release their tenth studio record, titled "10 Lives", on October 19 via Megaforce Records. The disc was produced by frontman Bobby Amaru and Steve Perreira in Jacksonville, Florida and is a labor of love that took nearly a year to make. Featuring SALIVA's trademark, no-holds-barred sound, "10 Lives" is described in a press release as "quite possibly the band's most energetic, catchy offering yet." The effort contains "14 single-worthy anthems comprised of earworm hooks, shredding solos and razor-sharp production." The band says: "This is the tenth record for us — we call it '10 Lives'. The title represents where we are at in the band's career. We feel stronger than ever... '10 Lives' is about never giving up and grinding daily. We love making new records for the fans who continue to support the band through it all. This will not be the last!" "10 Lives" track listing: 01. Domination 02. Only The Strong Survive 03. Some Shit About Love 04. Close to the Ledge 05. One More Night 06. Helpless 07. Epidemic 08. Gone Away 09. The Warning 10. The Snake 11. Make You Famous 12. Pissed 13. When I'm Gone 14. Some Thing About Love Formed in 1996, SALIVA broke out into the mainstream in 2001 when the band's angsty hard rock pummeling helped earn a double-platinum certification for its sophomore album, "Every Six Seconds". The band followed with seven more heavy-hitting albums released between 2002 and 2016 and a greatest-hits collection in 2010. SALIVA is currently on tour in the U.S. Tags: saliva
  3. Unlike most here who seem to think Gotthard should be exactly as they were with Steve singing, I like the recent stuff and am looking forward to this album.
  4. Probably because it's a quarter of a century since that was released.
  5. Sounds ok to me. Wondering why the track listing is so different between CD and LP?Usually they have a set way of ordering the songs so that they compliment each other. I guess not here.
  6. Yeah, no from me as well. Not terrible, but........ unnecessary Metalizing it takes all of the 'Africa' out of it, so what's the point?
  7. I've given it a go. Like Maiden, and Lizzy Borden, and many other bands that are a bit heavier I'm finding it take the right mood for me to get in to it. I'll get there eventually, but for now it's all a bit bland and samey.
  8. Pages are all protected content so here are the links. http://www.vhnd.com/2018/10/03/michael-anthony-robin-zander/ https://beautyinchaos.bandcamp.com/track/drifting-away-ft-robin-zander Quite a good song.
  9. Listening to the earlier stuff, and it's clear that the biggest difference is the singer developing. Can't wait to see what's next.
  10. My fav songs of this one in no particular order Carnival Days Harder To Breathe Gotta Be Real Shangri-La War Of Mine Hope Reincarnation Those are the great songs, plenty of other good songs as well. Reincarnation is probably the stand out for me. Epic song.
  11. So I'm listening now and so far it's actually pretty good. On first listen probably a bit catchier than previous records. Even hits a lower register on Lost Inside The Girl, which is cool as I was comparing Kennedy's voice to Mark Slaughter as far as learning to like it, and was wondering if he had a lower register. Not quite the difference that Slaughter has, but not bad...
  12. Yeah OK. So here is where I stand. I find a heap of new music here. But it's hard work opening threads about bands I haven't heard before, because a lot of the time they are syrupy synth riddled AOR bands that I'm not a bit fan of. No problem there, not complaining, but with limited time, often I miss a cool band that slips through the cracks. I saw that a few people had this album on their top 5 so I found the thread and listened to some samples. they sounded OK, so I listened to the album (well I am listening right now, up to track 9 currently) Well fuck me if this isn't going to be my album of the year. This band reminds me A LOT of my all time favorite album - Bad City - Welcome To The Wasteland So much so that I found myself Googling to see if Josh Todd was singing. When doing so, I see on Melodic Rock that they are ripping on the singer, calling him the weak link. WTF? He makes the album for me. Weird. Anyway, what a killer disc this is. Grateful to find this sort of music through this site.
  13. WET was a good album for me, but kinda got boring. Probably make my top 10. Probably need to revisit it.
  14. Forgot about this one until yesterday I saw it at JBHiFi Will track it down and give it a spin. I really liked 7 songs off the last album, but this is a band that required quite a few listens before a call can be made. Songs need to imbed themselves inside your brain to really get them.
  15. Skyscraper - some really fucking silly bits, and some really lame lines, but overall you get what you expect. The way the Rock gets around on one leg makes me want to lose on. I'd be more agile than I am now lol
  16. Everything after Corabi was average. A few good songs here and there, but they sure lost their mojo...
  17. Yeah, one of the band members came out and said it was for the movie The Dirt - 5 tracks I think. Also read somewhere the other day that Motley nearly continued on as a 5 piece when Vince came back, with Corabi as a second guitarist. New tracks should be cool. Or shit. There won't be an inbetween....
  18. Walking Tall - back when Dwayne was billed as The Rock. One of his early movies. basic formula, and I like it. Johnny Knoxville is ok in it. Neal McDonough is his usual awesome bad guy.
  19. There's always a few good songs on these types of albums. Just a matter of committing the time to find them with repeat listens. This is why I have a backlog. I might spin a disc and not take to it. Could be crappier music than usual from that band, could be my mood, could be other reasons. So it gets shelved and noted to get back to. This is why it took so long to get to the Defiants. Didn't like the first song, but everyone here loved the disc, so I knew I'd at least find it ok, but at the time wasn't in the mood. At the moment I have a Ratt and a Stephen Pearcy CD to get to. They are hard, because his voice is so course and not in the same ballpark as it was. Same with Maiden for some reason. Just a heavy metal band now, they seem to have lost a lot of their hooks etc, so it's shelved for now. Lizzy Borden, etc. Most of the heavier bands take me longer to like these days...
  20. Yep Happens from time to time. Example, Kiss... Took me 20 years to start to like God Of Thunder. Still not a real fan of Creatures Of The Night, and I've always dug The Elder
  21. I don't mind some of his stuff. I get that it's a kind of acquired taste. Ride With The Wild One Unsexy etc, some nice songs
  22. I am getting through my backlog. My businesses have kept me busy for the last few years. Only have around 90 albums to get through now. Made a concerted effort over the last year to get through my backlog and have done around 250 - 300 albums Luckily I've had a tonne of computer work so I've been able to listen most working days, all day. I'm off interstate on Thursday (8.5 hour drive each way) so I'll have a lot of listening time then as well. I'll be targeting The Gloria Story The Answer Julian Angel Final Frontier Eagles Tracii Guns Toxic Rose Pretty Maids Some older, some newer albums
