  1. I received my CD today from Andrew and just wanted to say that this is an amazing 2 CD compilation with 37 songs and has one of the best CD booklets I've ever seen! Each song is depicted in the booklet with a picture of the album it originates from and a little paragraph from the artist talking about the actual song. A very well put together package and anyone who hasn't picked up a copy should head over to MR.com and do so before they sell out. This is the sort of quality packaging I'd like to see from every new release. I haven't finished playing it yet but so far some of the stand out tracks are: Taxxi - Writing On The Wall (prev unreleased) Blanc Faces - Falling From The Moon (from the new album) Action - Never Alone (prev unreleased)
  2. Does anyone own this CD? I think they're a ?German AOR band. It's a 6 track EP from 1993 and apparantly very hard to come by. You can check out 4 of the songs here: Link Good stuff!
  3. What a stunning ballad. This song is up there in my top 10 of all time. Seriously, if you haven't heard this and you like a good ballad you won't be disappointed. From their 'Holy Water' album I think. Brilliant!!! EDIT..The above link is really audio only as the video they used is some footage from CSI or something. I found a live video clip for this song but it's a bit poor quality.
  4. Ruined a great song! But yeah that was pretty funny.
  5. kings of the sun sure do rock, can't say I've ever been dissapointed by thier albums. speaking of screaming jets I'd love to know a way of getting hold of thier demos when the band was known as Sudden Impact before changing thier name to Aspect. I understand there's quite a few tracks recorded under those monickers that have never been released. Yeah nothing wrong with Kings Of The Sun. Their first album was great. I didn't know the Jets were formerly known as Sudden Impact or Aspect. They must have been real young at the time. I'd also be very interested to hear them.
  6. Re-master of ...ish by 1927 should be out Early September. Still not sure if there will be any additional tracks. Hopefuly I'll be seeing them tonight...yay!
  7. Yeah you can definately hear the Whitesnake influence. Good stuff. I'll be keen to hear more from them. Thanks Jez!
  8. Arrived today: The Rembrandts - S/T (1990) Burns Blue - What If... (2003) Frontiers Records Silverstein - Arrivals & Departures (2007)
  9. Yeah agreed. If there was artwork I'd consider but no way in hell am I paying for a plain old CDR.
  10. Ok I've finally given in and bought the damn thing from cdjapan as per Lindasys advice. Seems this is the only way I'm going to own this CD. Should have it in 1-3 weeks. All up cost me about $32 including shipping but I bundled it with a few other things to make the shipping cost worthwhile.
  11. I wonder why there are gates? It's in a club, right? Silence! Even as I typed that I knew someone would pick me up on that. I wonder why the doors open at 5pm? Any guesses? Maybe just to make sure they get all of our drink money.

  13. I think 'Life' has been mentioned a few times mate Matty-Boo, you really are a dreg sometimes. There are more posts in this thread that mention 'Life' than there are that don't. And I agree, definitely their most consistent disc. One or two turds, but mostly an album full of excellent songs. As Jez says, 'Imaginator' would be next on the list but I have 'Because they can' and a CDR of 'Silence is broken' too and I wouldn't get rid of either. Actually 'Life' is the only Nelson album I don't own and I've never heard it. Have to fix that immediately.
  14. Can't wait for this one! Great band!
  15. There's so many awesome gigs going ahead in Australia over the next few months... 1927 As far as I can see these 1927 gigs are only for Queensland so far. Will be great to see these guys as a band rather than a Weideman solo gig. And two of the gigs are free as well - I'm in! Also of interest, Warner Music has announced they are re-mastering ..ish for re-release at some point. Hopefully we will see some bonus stuff on this but I'm not holding my breath. This also means people can stop paying stupid prices for it on E-Bay. For full details go here. Looks like the shows will be around the $35 mark. Worth it I reckon. Alice Cooper (USA) (Theatre Of Death Australian Tour 2009) I saw Alice play in Brisbane a few years back and it was a very entertaining show but I don't think I'll be paying these sort of prices with everything else that's going on. Capitol (Perth) - 27th August Hi Fi Bar (Brisbane) - 29th August Billboard (Melbourne) - 30th August Metro Theatre (Sydney) - 31st August Rose Tattoo Rose Tattoo are playing various dates around Australia from mid August to early October. Live reviewers have done nothing but rave about Deathstars who are renowned for pouting, flirting, sweating and stripping their way through a disgustingly excellent sleaze filled set." Manning Bar (University Of Sydney) - Thursday 24th September - 7PM - Tix via Ticketek ($57.50) Club 299 (Brisabane) - Friday 25th September - 8PM - Tix via Ticketek ($38.60/$58.60) Capitol (WA) - Sunday 27 September - 8PM - Tix via Ticketek ($58.60) Jimmy Barnes Empire Theatre (Toowoomba, Qld.) - Wednesday 2nd September - 7:30PM - Tix via Box Office ($55) Brolga Theatre (Maryborough, Qld.) - Thursday 3rd September - 7:30PM - Tix via Box Office ($55) The Avondale Homestead Tavern (North Bundaberg, Qld.) - Saturday 5th September - 7:30PM - Tix via OzTix ($55) The Tivoli Theatre (Brisbane) - Sunday 6th September - 7:30PM - Tix via Ticketek ($55) Jon Stevens Kallangur Tavern (Brisbane) - Saturday 5th September - 7:30PM - Tix from the venue ($30) Blessed By A Broken Heart (Canada) (Thunder Downunder Tour 2009) Supprted by Mourning Tide (Qld) and Shadows Chasing Ghosts (UK). Kisschasy are playing various dates around Australia in September and October. A pretty cool band I reckon. Full details are here. Slayer & Megadeth (USA) Slayer and Megadeth are playing various dates around Australia in early October. Not for me at all. Details here. Skid Row (USA) 'Thickskin' was one of my favourite albums of the past decade. It has 4 totally awesome songs and the rest ain't bad either. I'm really looking forward to this gig. Palace Theatre (Melbourne) - Thursday 8th October - 7:30PM - Tix on sale via Ticketek Friday 7th August 9AM ($79.90) Tivoli Theatre (Brisbane) - Friday 9th October - 7:30PM - Tix on sale via Ticketek Friday 7th August 9AM ($79.90) Enmore Theatre (NSW) - Saturday 10th October - 7:45PM - Tix on sale via Ticketek Friday 7th August 9AM ($79.90) Candy Harlots So far this is just a one off re-union gig though I wouldn't be suprised if they do some more shows. Gaelic Theatre (Surry Hills, Sydney) - Saturday 31st October - 8PM - Tix on sale now via Moshtix ($29.10 incl. booking fee) Arch Enemy (Sweden) Arch Enemy play a bunch of dates around Australia in early November. Another band I've seen live already. I wouldn't buy an album but they're good entertainment value to see live. Supported by Suffocation (US) and Winds of Plague (US) - that's two reasons why I'm not going. Details here. Budgie (UK) This is their 2nd tour of Australia in recent times, I heard their last shows here were very successful and well received. A bit of old school hard rock. I might check them out. The Charles Hotel (Perth) - Wednesday 11th November Fly By Night Musicians Club (Fremantle, WA) - Thursday 12 November The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel (Adelaide) - Saturday 14th November Corner Hotel (Richmond, Melbourne) - Wednesday 18th November Metro Theatre (NSW) - Friday 20th November Waves Towradgi Beach Hotel (Wollongong, NSW) - Saturday 21st November Panthers Cardiff (Newcastle, NSW) - Thursday 26th November The Hi-Fi Bar (Brisbane) - Friday 27th November Coolangatta Hotel (Gold Coast) - Saturday 28th November Pretty Boy Floyd (USA) (20th Anniversary Tour Of Leather Boyz With Electric Toys) I found this announcement a real suprise. I really didn't think they were big enough to make a trip all they way to Australia. I own and love their debut album, though haven't really heard anything else. I'll be making the effort to see these guys as well. Gaelic Theater (Sydney) - 26th November The Step Inn (Brisbane) - 27th November The Hi-Fi Club (Melbourne) - 28th November Nickelback (USA) Nickelback are a band that I really can't decide on. They definately have some talent and some kick ass songs but for some reason they annoy me. I saw them back in 2001 and whilst they put on a good live show I think I'll be giving this one a miss. Nickelback are playing various dates around Australia from mid-late November. Full details here. Lamb Of God/Devildriver/Shadows Fall (USA) Lamb Of God are playing various dates around Australia, from December 11-18. Details here. Keith Urban Keith is playing dates around Australia in December. No new dates have been listed yet. Edguy (Germany) Edguy return to Australia to play at the 2009/2010 New Years Eve "Screamfest" gig at the Enmore Theatre (Sydney). Unfortunately they haven't listed any other dates which is very disappointing as they are an amazing live band. Other bands possibly worth seeing are Black Majesty and Sonata Arctica but appart from this it seems like an extreme metal fest. ACDC (Black Ice World Tour) ACDC return to Australia in early February 2010, most dates have sold out. Supported by Wolfmother
  16. Got this one playing right now...won't be for everyone but quite good I think.
  17. A post on their MySpace page yesterday indicates that the new album is now available in Australia...no details whatsoever though...looks like this post may have been made by a fan, not the band.
  18. Yeah I usually don't have any interest to hang around and meet the band members, and like Geoff I hate crowds and like to get the hell out of there as soon as I can. Having said that, on a few occassions I have hung around and met people (Jeff Scott Soto and Bruce Kulick come to mind) and walked away thinking what awesome dudes they are for taking the time to talk to their fans and sign shit.
  19. Just biding on a copy of the debut now...sounds awesome!
  20. I definately like some of his songs but on the whole I think his music is more blues rock than anything else. He's capable of some great guitar playing though. He probably doesn't fit into the scope of HH's but I sure wouldn't mind if he was included. '5 Long Years' is a great song!
  21. Is thst Johnny Solinger?? If so I'll be interested to know how the vocals are on that disc.
  22. That is one on my to get list Same here been on my watch list many times just never pulled the trigger. Id never heard of it till the other day...
