  1. Now I must go and check out Shadows Fade, don't think I've heard anything from them. Ignore Geoff. Shadows Fade is under-produced drivel. Some good tunes, but a hopeless production and (considering the strength of the vocalist) the vocals are so down in the muddy mix you can barely hear them. lol... very agreeable with you. Well, there you go Justin. Two people's opinions you never need to bother with again. Seriously, though, this CD is amazing imho. I'm going to try and hear this one ASAP, will let you know whos side I take. BTW, for DaHun72's benefit, here's a really cool blog with an article all about Chalfant and all of his releases, check it out here.

  3. Very VERY good, mate ! But you need to spend some bigger bucks. Naaahhhh! Read the reviews and I've just picked it up from Amazon.com for $22.58...a little over £13...I'm so impulsive hahaha! Trouble is, if you haven't got the JAP version then you're missing the best track on the disc. The U.S and Euro versions tail off at the end, but the JAP version replaces the awful last song (that's not even sung by Magness) with a killer track. I think says it has a bonus track called Dreamer or dreaming...on the sleeve it..we'll see when it turns up I guess. I don't think its the Jap though. That's the 2002 U.S re-issue. It's called "Music From the Planet +1" however the original release had 10 tracks anyway. The song you have on the end ("Dreamers") is pretty good, much better than "Ever After Love" that was on the original, but neither come within a million miles of "I Will Be Loving You" which is the 10th track on the JAP version of this - a flawless Westcoast tune... Another option if you alreay have a non-Japanese version of the album is to pick up the 'I Don't Want To Say Goodnight' Japanese CD single, which includes the track 'I Will Be Loving You'. But if your gonna pay big bucks for this single it's probably better just to pay a bit extra and pick up the Japanese album. I was just reading that 'I Will Be Loving You' is originally froma Levis commercial.

    Hi All

The Aussies are taking over! Welcome to the forum. It is quite addictive though. The biggest problem is all the music recommendations people make, causing us all to spend more money on CD's. Its all good though!
  5. Yep great album! Kevin has a wonderful voice! Maybe if you haven't already check out Hugo's - S/T & 'Time On Earth' albums and maybe Brian Howe's 'Touch' album. Oh and the Storm and VU albums mentioned by Andre and Tim2 are absolutely essential listening. Two Fires is another Chalfant project, not as good as others mentioned but still worth a listen. BTW have you listened to Kevins 'Fly To Freedom' album with the Journey covers? I've been meaning to get that one for a while now.
  6. Got this in the mail today, it's a very well put together package, with a hand numbered gold sticker, awesome booklet as headbanger said with photos, bio etc. And the music...GREAT...too bad they were'nt more recognised 20 years ago so these songs could have recieved a better production. If they had the $'s and the producer, some of these songs would be amazing.
  7. Are you refering to an intra-venous catheter or a urinary catheter? There's a big difference. both unfortunately had an IV in the main vein inside my wrist a few times (meaning it would get caught really easily....that would hurt ), a Urinary Catheter in my bladder twice (although since i was a kid it went through the skin below my stomach) and i even had the experience of having a camera shoved up my pisshole....twice and i didnt cry once luckily its all over now, i havent had to put up with that stuff in years......but it does mean im generally unafraid of needles and what not i apologize if that was too much information for anyone, but the man asked a question Yeah, having that done aat such a young age would put you off a bit, glad it's all behind you now!
  8. Just playing Misha Calvin's 'Evolution' CD for the first time in ages...forgot how damn awesome it is. Any other fans out there? I've not heard the follow album from 1996 I think, but I've heard a lot of negative comments about that one.
  9. Agreed digipacks look great but are a pain to store and you need to take pretty good care of them or them become "ratty" very quickly.

  11. Here's a funny article listing the 5 times when a man is allowed to cry. I love number 3. The 5 times when men are allowed to cry
  12. I must admit I do pretty much hate the disco era, luckily I wasn't around for it, but that being said I have yet to hear JSS's voice on something I don't like. The guy can take any style, it seems, and turn it into something special. For example, normaly I wouldn't listen to funk music, but every funk tune I've heard him sing I've just loved. I'll check it out anyway and if it sucks I'll give it to someone who likes disco.
  13. Can anyone tell me anything about this album? Released on Retrospect Records. Does JSS sing on all songs? Is it any good?
  14. A lot of those names make me cringe but Faith No More and Tool I can stomach.
  15. My rankings are almost consistent with the votes so far, except, Dr Feelgood better than Detonator? No way! Dr Feelgood's a great album but nowhere near as good as the amazing Detonator IMO.
  16. Okay guys, here's the non-album tracks. I hope I'm not violating the rules here by posting the link, but given that this is just five select tracks from three different out of print CD singles from 1991 I think this should be okay. I'm guessing the majority of people who will be interested already own the album. For fans of the album, these are definately worth a listen, especially as there are three great sounding melodic rock ballads among them. 'Straight For Your Heart' should've been included on the album, in fact it could've fit nicely on a Def Leppard album. 'Jackson High' is another brilliant track, better than most of the album. 'More Than I Want' - what can I say - probably close to, if not the best track the band has recorded, a great intro, and once again very Def Leppard-esque. 'Can't Take The Credit For It' is an okay rocker, nothing too special and 'Freight Train' is a pretty average track really but shows the band playing in a style not heard before. From the 'All Join Hands' single: Straight For Your Heart From the 'Hell Can Wait' single: Jackson High (Original Demo) More Than I Want From the 'Tower Of Love' single: Can't Take The Credit For It Freight Train (Acoustic Version) Roadhouse Non-Album Tracks
  17. Yeah I'm big fan of this album as well. I went for track 2 'Time' as the best track for me. I also really like 'One Heart' and 'Desperation Calling'. I own 3 CD singles from this band - all up theres an extra 5 tracks that don't appear on the album. I ripping them to MP3 now if anyones interested in hearing them let me know. BTW does anyone know if the Japanese version of this album has a different track listing or is it the same 10 tracks? EDIT...oops I did mean to say "Hell Can Wait' instead of 'One Heart', Hell Can Wait is a wonderful track.
  18. Yeah glad you liked it, I'd probably agree it's one of the best movies I've seen recently. Had a sickie yesterday and watched: Zwartboek (Black Book) (2006) - really good WWII movie & Assassins (1995) One of my all time fav movies starring Stallone & Banderas
  19. I'll have to check these guys out, I haven't heard any of their albums before but their first two albums sure do get some good comments on the main site.
  20. My thoughts exactly, I've won quite a few good items from listings that were less viewed due to spelling mistakes.
  21. Thats run by one of the guys from DIH... the same guy who was on here a while back.. So what do you think about the additional tracks that aren't on the Liberation EP? 'Without You' is a great song. So all up DIH must have 10 songs. Could make a pretty sweet album from these.
  22. Not sure if anyone else has got on to this but I've found a website with 8 Devils In Heaven songs, only one of which is on the 3 track Liberation EP/single. Check em out here. Check out the pumps!
  23. Can anyone tell me anything about this release which is listed on the HH's main site? I've been searching for ages and can't find a thing about them. Certainly looks interesting. Domenic Pearce lead vocals, programming Chris Zidanski keyboards, programming Tony Philips bass guitar Michael Emerling bass guitar Kevin McKay guitars Sam Hartfield guitars 1. Show Me the Way 2. Brighter Day 3. If Only I Could 4. Just for Tonight 5. No Escape from Love 6. Don't Make a Sound 7. Does It Make a Difference
  24. Yeah I had that Dear Enemy on vinyl a while back, remember liking it too. Real Life - Heartland is on CD, apparantly an independent re-issue by the band. Theres a few on E-bay at the moment, on is selling for US$200. And as for the Avion CD's I checked out a few on E-Bay and all are on dodgy labels.
  25. Gran Torino (2008) with Clint Eastwood - A great movie, lots of emotions, funny at times, sad at other times, highly recommended
