Crazy Lixx - 'New religion'

Crazy Lixx - 'Loud minority' ; awesome disc, but haven't they done a complete 180 on the art of writing a ballad?! I forgot how poor 'The gamble' on the end of this is.

Saxon - 'Destiny'

    • Been a while, always liked their stuff,so another for the list.
    • When it is a band whose first language is English, it sometimes becomes acceptable ... but only sometimes. When it is an English speaking band, then it is never acceptable. I have seen some of the bands on here or in the database, and my first thought is "Their name is so bad, I cannot be arsed to check them out". A bands name is the first thing people see or hear, so you should be making the right impression by having at least a decent name.
    • I agree with both points. Band names seem to be getting worse every year....
    • Have fun, hopefully without a lot of rain.
    • Musically solid but vocals are weak. Oh and the band name is fuckin awful
    • No idea, how often I listened to Not The End of The Road until today. So it will take some weeks to know which one I like more. Both albums are great! From my point of view the pre-released singles where clearly the best songs. Obviously, it makes sense to publish great songs as singles. But as much as I loved the singles, the rest of the album didn't really surprise me anymore. But to make it clear: even the worst songs to my taste are still really great in their own way. Kissin' Dynamite is my absolute favorite band at the moment.
    • These girls really do not get talked about on these forums, which is a crying shame. I first became aware of them before they were a proper band, and they were aged between around 9 to 13 performing a cover of Enter Sandman on YouTube. Like many though I really never followed them any further. Two years ago or so I was made aware of them again when YouTube recommended their latest single at the time, Disciple. Obviously the girls had grown up since I last saw them, being between 17 and 22. I checked out some of their other songs that were recent around that time and liked what I heard. At the time they had just released or were just about to release the Mayday EP, but ordering a six track (I think EP) from North America was too expensive for me being this was when I was going through treatment and was broke all the time, so I downloaded it on the naughty naughty. Then they released the Error album a few months later, which contained the EP in its entirety plus a another 6 or so songs. Once again though, I could not afford it as it just was not available outside North America despite being signed to Lava/Replublic which are owned by Universal. I did finally get the album last year when I started earning again, and even picked up their first two albums. Error was absolutely fantastic, and when I got a chance to see them headline in London last year I jumped at the chance. This was my first gig in around four years for due to initially taking a gig break in 2019, covid in 2020 and cancer in 2021/2022. It did take a lot out of me as I was still recovering, but fuck me it was worth it as they put on a killer live show even if their set was a bit short. That was my only gig of 2023. This year they came back for a full headline European tour, so I saw them again, this time with some extra songs from what was then, the upcoming album. A bigger venue than before in London and they still sold out. They then announced two weeks ago that they were coming back again in 2025, so of course I have my ticket booked for that as well. And once again, a bigger venue. This is their first album to be readily available in other countries, and has been doing some seriously good numbers. For instance here in the UK it managed to hit #37 in the main album charts and #1 in the rock chart. Pretty impressive for three young sisters from Mexico. I have heard people try to describe them as alternative or post pop punk, but personally I think they are just a straight up rock band.   Oh, and as for going to gigs, I already have two other gigs booked for this year so it's not just The Warning I now drag my sorry butt up to London for. The fact that all the gigs this year are females is totally unintentional, honest ha ha (the other two being Cassidy Paris and Sophie Lloyd).
