Favourite debut album from 80's hard rock heroes

Okay guys, here are the debut albums from a few of the more popular 80's hard rock artists. Just wondering who released your favourite debut of the 80's... of these artists listed here?

I went with Warrant. Probably should have went with Dokken but Tooth and Nail was my intro to the band. Do I like Breaking the Chains better than DRFSR, no I do not. Warrant had a much better debut but Dokken has a WAY stronger catalog of music. With that, I must say that I really like DRFSR, not a filler here. Good stuff. ~C

I went with Poison. Here's my quick summary of my list in order:

 

Poison - 'Look what the cat dragged in' ; awesome debut and IMO a defining moment in glam hard rock. Perfect stuff.

Warrant - 'Dirty Rotten Filthy stinkin' rich' ; killer debut. Love it.

Ratt - 'Out of the cellar' ; killer debut and arguably their best album.

Bon Jovi - s/t ; great disc. Great debut.

Motley Crue - 'Too fast for love' ; great debut that some argue is their best. Awesome.

Dokken - 'Breaking the chains' ; love the band, hate this CD. As Chad says, brilliant catalogue but weak first disc.

Def Leppard - 'On through the night' ; awful disc, awesome band. I hate this but love all their other discs.

Definitely Poison, followed by Bon Jovi, then either of warrant or Motley Crue

I voted Bon Jovi out of that list...Poison and Ratt would be next...completely agree with Chad on the Warrant/Dokken comparison

Probably the loner here... but Dokken: Breaking The Chains gets my vote.

I'm one of those in the Too Fast For Love being Crüe's best and it's still a massive favorite of mine. I rarely play any of the others.

Bon Jovi then the Crue. I really like both of these bands, and consider both these releases to be some of the bands best stuff they have done (Too Fast For Love is my Fave Crue disc overall). Never really got into Poison, although the debut is OK, same with Warrant, Ratt & Dokken. The Def Leppard album I like as it takes me back top the times when I first saw them as fresh faced youngsters in '79 and for a debut I have heard a lot worse. It lacks alot of power, but gave an indication of what they were trying to do.

Nuts! In my excitement I voted for Ratt by mistake...knock one off it and add it to Crue!

 

Had to go for Crue as they were so different for the time and fun. I think bands like Ratt and Poison followed in their wake to an extent.

I went with Motley Crue(IMO their best), Def Leppard would be second, Dokken third and Ratt fourth. By how can you leave out Dedringer - Direct Line, Fastway -S/T, Killer Dwarfs -S/T, Lillian Axe -S/T and Zebra - S/T? Include these and I would say : 1-Zebra, 2-Lillian Axe, 3-Killer Dwarfs, 4-Motley Crue, 5-Fastway, 6-Def Leppard, 7-Dedringer. And if the Four Horsemen qualified they could go right to the top with Nobody Said It Was Easy!

I go for Dio!!!!!! oops, Dio is not listed,( and Zebra is a good one) well, then, it is very close between Mcrue and BJovi but I will have to go with

MCrue for the strongest from start to finish in my opinion!!!

Ratt all the way, I thought that was the coolest sounding release by far when that came out, although if you had put Dio on there I might have gone for that... but Ratt woulda been a totally close second!

I really liked the EP that Ratt had put out. Lillian Axe were playing dead-on covers in the local bars at the time and they had most of the songs on that EP in their set so I bought it mainly because I associated it with Lillian Axe. BTW, sometimes my friends and I would jokingly refer to L.A. as "Lillian Ratt" as a compliment to their great covers. And I really liked Def Leppard's debut; if Crue's TFFL hadn't been included On Through the Night would have gotten my vote.

Whew, that's cool! I am easily confused as it is...

 

OTTN was a close one for me as well. I think that's a terribly underrated release from the Leps.

I had to go with Bon Jovi on this one as I didn't care much for the other bands except for Def Leppard but BJ's debut was far better imho. If the poll had been about the follow-up album I'd have gone with DL tho.

Motley Crue - Too Fast For Love

Had to go w/Crue's debut. That's one that's powerful and raw. Killer tunes, probably Crue's best album IMO.

 

2nd place is a tie between Def Lep & Dokken.
