Predators - I liked it. Watched it myself the other night when Mrs. Jeff was not around. Not everyone will but I think if you bothered to rent it in the first place you know what it is and therefore will like it.

 

Flatliners - A classic. And always fun to see Sutherland, Bacon, etc. that young.

Not heard of this one,so I had a look on Amazon, where it's described as, "mix of martial arts, horror, and French period drama". Sounds fantastic! What did you think?

 

Well, it's a strange movie for sure... Fantastic (and very modern) cinematography, gore and nudity (Monica Bellucci included ) but the story is far-fetched and long - even though it's based on a true story. But it's worth watching.

Robin Hood (Russell Crowe version; Director's cut) - Decent, not bad, not overly good. Saw it on blu ray and the scenery was amazing. Usually with these types of movies I end up noticing the musical score but not this one...which tells me it wasn't that good. Worth the rental but I wouldn't buy it or watch it again.

'Afghan Knights' ; okay guys, is this it? Officially the worst movie in history? It's definitely in my top 10. So bad I wanted to die during it.

 

'American Pie - Beta House' ; I felt like a creepy teen because after about 10mins of this f*cking shit I just fast forwarded to any moment of naked female flesh. Thank christ there was a lot of it in here, and top quality females too. But seriously, aside from the soft porn aspect (which was awesome) I cannot actually handle watching a film like this anymore. Painful... except for the awesome sluts.

"Star Knight" (a.k.a. "El Caballero del Dragon")

 

...woof, this was bad. This is an '80s Spanish sci-fi/fantasy film in which an alien visitor drops in on a village in Medieval Europe, where he terrorizes the peasants, romances a princess, and battles a bunch of klutzy knights. I'm not sure if "Star Knight" was supposed to be a comedy but it sure turned out that way. The only actors I recognized were Harvey Keitel (who spends the whole movie with a "What the F*** am I doing here?" expression on his face) and Klaus Kinski (who apparently would do anything for a buck at this point in his career), the rest of the cast is made up of people named "Jesus," "Javier," "Luis," etc. The film looks nice (costumes, sets, etc.) but the dialogue is painful and the "story" is slow moving and goes nowhere. Utterly godawful!

I don't usually post about old movies, but I just watched the original JASON & THE ARGONAUTS, I'm trying to educate my boys on the "cool" old Harryhousen monster movies. I had forgotten what a long, boring crapfest this one was! They liked identifying the gods, but didn't care much about most of the monsters. I have SINBAD on the way, I'm hoping it will go over a little better

Watched today:

 

'The Expendables' ; I'll admit I enjoyed it. Action films and I have a strained relationship but this was a bit of fun and totally harmless. It's crazy to see how poorly guys like Dolph Lundgren have aged. And Stallone has aged roughly too. All I was asking throughout this was where were Van Damme and Segal? I don't really know the premise for this one, but I assume it was a thing to get all the old action heroes in it (Even Schwarzenegar [sp?] and Bruce Willis have a part) and I emjoyed it. Good times. Some good bloody scenes too.

 

'Black Sheep' ; all I can say is this film has my wife to thank for the fact that I watched it all. I'd have been fastforwarding 10mins in if not for her. I HATED this. Nice landscape as it was shot in NZ, but it is the only good thing I can say about it. For the record it is some godawful horror/comedy about killer sheep. Killer zombie kind of sheep. Because these sheep bite humans and the humans then gradually transform into killer sheep too. Honestly, I'll give them credit for at least trying to create something comical out of it, because ideas just as bad as this are done seriously and it is death-worthy. I know they were taking the piss with this, but it doesn't mean it wasn't in the top 10 worst films I have seen in my life.

 

'Zack & Miri Make a Porno' ; good stuff. Been wanting to see this for ages and I dug it. Yeah, nothing negative to say about it. Pretty humerous too.

 

'City of angels' ; I saw this once about 20 years ago and remember liking it. It's a little prolonged, but a nice enough film. I didn't mind it.

"Nadja" (1994) - excruciatingly boring, pretentious-as-hell arthouse tale of brother and sister vampires and a troubled married couple whose lives intersect in New York City. I knew I was in trouble as soon as the opening credits said, "DAVID LYNCH PRESENTS..." cuz "Arthouse" stuff like this is simply not my style at all.

I give this flick points for two things: a lesbian seduction scene, and they played Spacehog's "In The Meantime" over the end credits. Other than that, this was 95 or so minutes of my life I'm never gonna get back. I guess I'm just not "hip" enough.
