The Golden Compass - 8/10

Is it as good as the book? The Dark Materials trilogy rocks

Back on topic :

I watched 'Next' (with Cage) and thought it was pretty good up until the last 5 mins......the most f ridiculous ending I have ever seen??!

The first 1.5 hrs is well worth watching tho.

What, worse than the ending to my favourite film - An Officer And A Gentleman

10,000 B.C.--ok adventure flick. Nothing new. I think Apocalypto was better because there was actually blood and gore in it.

Vantage Point--again, ok one time watch, good to see Dennis Quaid in action again

I haven't read the book but I think it's a very enjoyable movie.

But as far as I know people generally didn't like it for some reasons... :screwy:

Probably because its not like the book. The book rocks with some really evil anti-religion shit. Not that Ive anything against religion, but I think they might have toned it down for film a bit.

Looking forward to it in any case.

Cheers

Here in the States Christian groups had all kinds of problems with The Golden Compass movie.

I didn't see the movie myself but I do remember it being in the news all the time when it was in the theater in December.

Just finished watching The Siege Of Firebase Gloria (1989)

Great Vietnam war movie that has that R. Lee Ermey guy (the drill sergeant from Platoon) in it.

I've read somewhere that R. Lee Erney has been in over 100 Vietnam movies. I didn't think there were that many made of that war!!!

We Own The Night - was ok, not really great. Middle of the road

American Gangster - was better just because Denzel Washington's acting

Bucket List - was good, I liked it but don't now If I'd watch it again. maybe a few years down the road

Vantage Point - I really like this.
