AOR New Year's Resolutions

Anyone gonna make a resolution this year around their music fandom?

Mine is I have to work out how / force myself not to buy any new music from February due to a change in finances for the following 18 months...

This year I bought maybe 5-6 cds and I'll probably buy even less this year. More and more the music I normally listen to and enjoy sounds a lot like the music that came out in years past. I'm just not hearing anything really new and exciting so I'm better off listening to all my old cds and saving my money...

Well, I know how hard that is for a CD collector.

Fortunately, as a music lover in this day and age, it doesn't mean you have to miss out on the music.

I will be making lists to remember what to buy after my poor stretch and "catching up" in years to come. I've been going a bit crazy buying for the last few months knowing this was coming so filling holes in my collection. Next year post Feb I will be hitting up op shops more in vain hope. Once my new career kicks off I will be back baby! Back with avengeance!

I have always made lists, just a rough piece of paper with new releases and release dates to keep an eye on,they get penned through when I have it...then a new list when that one is almost completely sorted, just usually put the stuff I may be interested in on it and after a quick listen not everything gets purchased..and there is always something that just gets a surprise release that you go oh must buy that :) I sound organized but really i'm not ,everything I've purchased since March is still in piles around my pc :(

Really no resolution other than to be very frugal with what I buy.  I just don't listen to CD's much at all anymore but it's still a struggle to not buy them for some reason lol.  I have cut it down considerably though as I only bought 3 last year.  I have to keep reminding myself though to only buy albums I absolutely love or bands that I just want to collect.

It's still hard though as I still have those memories of buying basically every album that came out even if I only liked one song off it lol.

Already I see at least 2 releases that I'll be buying in 2024=Judas Priest and Bruce Dickinson.

And I usually end up buying a few reissues/anniversary CDs like Alice Cooper-Killer and Mike Tramp's songs of White Lion that were releases this year.

    • Some guy created a video on YouTube saying Chez Kane should be the new singer, but she has shot that down as well.
    • New album 'Kings Of The Revolution' out June 14th.
    • I really should use one of my editing software to have an MP3 without it. I separated the two versions of Gone again by PC69 years ago, but for some reason never edited this. Should be able to cut most of that 3 mins and fade the song out.
    • From Lions Pride Music: Nightfox emerged from the musical landscape of Trondheim, Norway, as a dynamic fusion of synthwave origins morphing seamlessly into the hard-hitting realms of 1980s-inspired hard rock. Founded in 2012, the band initially embarked on a journey rooted in synthwave aesthetics before embracing the electrifying energy of hard rock around 2017.   Driven by a relentless passion for the roaring riffs and blazing guitar solos reminiscent of the golden era of rock, Nightfox found its true voice within the spirited soundscape of 80s rock. What began as a synthwave experiment organically evolved into a full-fledged hard rock powerhouse, propelled by the inherent inclination of their compositions towards rock's anthemic essence.   The band's evolution culminated in the creation of a diverse repertoire of instrumentals, laying the foundation for their debut EP slated for release in 2018. However, personal circumstances necessitated a postponement, prompting a pivotal realization within the band that vocals would elevate their sonic tapestry to new heights.   Between 2019 and 2020, Nightfox embarked on an intensive songwriting and recording spree, breathing life into their compositions through the addition of poignant lyrics and powerful vocals delivered by a seasoned hired singer. As the album "White Cobra" began to take shape, the band opted to release their songs sequentially, with the debut single "Ride the Sky Tonight" igniting a spark that caught the attention of Lions Pride Music record label.   With Lions Pride Music extending a record deal, Nightfox found themselves propelled into the limelight, abandoning their original release strategy in favor of a cohesive album experience. In June 2021, the world bore witness to the electrifying debut of "White Cobra," a sonic odyssey that garnered critical acclaim, widespread airplay, and sold-out pressings within months of its release. Buoyed by the success of their debut, Nightfox set their sights on the creation of their sophomore album, "Chrome Tiger," a testament to their unwavering commitment to the legacy they've forged. Scheduled for a worldwide release on August 30, 2024, "Chrome Tiger" promises to further solidify Nightfox's position as torchbearers of the hard rock resurgence, captivating audiences with their infectious energy and unbridled passion for the genre.   Nighfox is: Vocals: Felipe Del Valle Briceño All Instruments & Programming: Erik Winther
    • New album 'lll' to be released September 20th. From Pride & Joy Music: We’re happy to announce that we have signed Swedish Melodic Rock group Heartwind! The band currently puts the final touches on their newalbum ”Heartwind III” which will be released in Autumn this year! Heartwind is a Swedish hard rock band that was formed in Stockholm in 2017. The current line-up consists of the three core members: Göran Engvall (guitars), Mikael Rosengren (keyboards) and Peter Svensson (drums). The band plays melodic hard rock with influences from the classic rock bands of the 80s such as Journey, Whitesnake and Europe and has released two albums, “Higher and Higher” (2018) and “Strangers” (2020) so far which both received positive reviews from fans and critics alike, showcasing the band’s ability to create powerful and emotional songs with strong melodies and choruses. In early 2024, Heartwind reached 1 million streams on Spotify. After signing a new record deal with German label Pride & Joy Music, Heartwind’s third album, Heartwind III, is set for release on September 20th 2024. It features 10 new original songs feat. an amazing line up of guest singers and musicians! The first single from the album, “Struck by Love” featuring rock legend Matti Alfonzetti on vocals, was released in December 2023 in advance. Other songs on Heartwind III feature the great talents of Nalle Påhlsson (Treat), Rick Altzi (Gathering of Kings), Fredrik Folkare (Unleashed), Jakob Samuel (The Poodles), Henric Bergqvist (Prins Svart/The Poodles), Thomas Vikström (Candlemass/Therion), Andreas Novak (House of Shakira), Robert van der Zwan (Remedy), Carl Berglund (Age of Reflection/Nationwide), Matt Marinelli (Borealis) and Nina Söderquist (solo), to name a few (or not so few)!
