One of my favourite bands, but completely uninterested. Already got all the albums...

Remastered by Harry Hess? Leave 'em alone, friend... leave them alone.

I thought the same thing. Things like "limited edition color Vinyl" mean nothing to me. Sure, there was a time when I was younger and I would have been very tempted, but It's all about the music now man!

Thankfully, that would never ever have appealed to me whatsoever. Always all about the music, man. ;)

Man, judging by the amount of their albums I have in my collection ( 10+), they are one of my favorite bands (on par with Fates Warning, Katatonia, Pretty Maids, Helloween, Yngwie, PC 69, Dream Theater, Rage, Pain Of Salvation).  I care the less for the cd box but I'll grab the vinyls (already saving hard , btw, for the vinyl releases from Pretty Maids).

Surely, it's  always  about the music( that's why I don't have many "complete" discographies in the shelves ), but as long  physical formats exist (vinyls preferably, despite the huge shipping cost nowadays) I'm all into getting them.

I haven't bought physical CD's for years.
And purchasing greatest hits, best ofs, ultimate collections, etc electronically is pretty pointless when you already have everything electronically.

Admittedly, most of my HS is still CD, but I'll get around to ripping this and the rest of my collection one day.

In 5 years this is a moot post, as for the first time since their 'comeback' vinyl sales have declined.
this coupled with the massive decline in CD sales is just reiterating that CD's are the new 'Blockbuster'
Doomed....

I never bought digital d/load

Hey mate. You love your music your way. That's what its all about. I'm with CureTheSane. I don't really need to have the physical object in my hands. I'm quite happy with digital. Far more convenient. As mentioned before however, there was a time before the digital (Internet)l revolution when I wasn't happy unless I owned the actual CD. Cassette tape recordings and  CD burns were okay, but I  had to have the disc. Thankfully I've well and truly gotten over that. As long as my files are tagged with cover art, I'm happy and so is my wallet.

I used to want the product in my hands.
See the artwork, read the lyrics (hopefully), even go through the credits and look for surprises and quirks.
No longer though. When some were released as downloads only it removed the ability to have a perfect collection. Same with the cardboard cases (for me at least). I wanted all mine in jewel cases.

But the quality of digital downloads is the same.
For that reason I still collect DVD's as quality of downloads still varies.
Netflix etc has kind of helped with that, but I often wonder if I'll always have access to everything I want streaming.

In the end my DVD collection is doomed.
In the end everyone's CD collections will be quirky keepsakes.
Soon releases will be online only.
This isn't something I am hoping for, but just the way it will happen.

I don't think cds will disappear anytime soon but they will become harder to find as I suspect eventually only the well known bands will release in cd form....who would have thought that vinyl would still be around after all these years...the majority of people on this forum, many who avidly collect cds, don't bother with vinyl and yet we still see vinyl releases...I expect that I will have to bite the bullet and start picking up releases in digital form in a few years as that will be the only way to get the music I want but it will be a sad day for me...

Not seeing much mentioned of the packaging, slip sleeves or jewel cases, liner notes, booklets, book, photos, you know something to accompany the mega box?

Looks like all cardboard sleeves and I take it no booklet for each? Only a thin booklet for all 14 CDs?

I want this but I'm not sure if I'll get it or not.

Yeah, all the bonus material is very tempting.

    • Shit I was into that Duke Nukem shit,
    • As an elitist my first, second and third reaction was a resounding no.   But then after a little self reflection and attesting that I don't have to have a hard drive of beeps, bits and squeals made it OK.   As mentioned clearly noting the format is key.   I believe we have some "Band Made CDR's" onsite as well, but as stated those are official releases and no other format.   While we are going down the rabbit whole, why not include cassette's? Maybe even vinyl? But the caveat would be that the release fits the parameters of the site and no other format exists, cuz at the end of the day its getting the cool bands seen and known to the elite crowd that resides herein.
    • And while Young & Fabulous does the most excellent TPOH inspired 1980's glam fused rock n roll, the Upper Crust go old old old school and take it back to the 1880's, Once More Into the Breeches, baby. Both band are far to witty with not only their tongues but yours and your girlfriends jabbed into their cheek
    • You're either into that sort of thing or you aren't... I've been into gaming since Doom released in 1993...actually I even gamed before that on bulletin boards before the internet really got going....
    • Washington State has a boatload of glam bands for glamier than the likes of Heart, no disputing MLB, cuz Landrew the love god is well god. Teachers Pett Rail Gibby Lixx Show N Tell Perennial War Babies TKO Bang Gang Talks Cheap Tramp Alley Alice N Chains (pre Facelift) Diamond Lie Lipstick Aurora Bathtub Gin Whiskey Fixx Masheen Heck even the new (er) Prophets of Addiction ...to name a few, plenty more.
    • What pray tell is "critical race theory"?
    • That tis funny, and I would watch you pillage for hours but I can't play them type of games, maybe its the motor skills, shrug?
    • Sounds like a brilliant marketing campaign "Who needs lawsuits, when you got Slurpees!"   I for one am glad that particular story had an uplifting and not tragic end, minus the profiling of course.   I tell you its addictive, especially if you get some like minded folks talking about this evolution or this mythical or or or. Fortunately my son still buys too many Pokemon cards and we play the actual card game regularly, that my friends is the best thing ever, when it comes to being a parent, sharing something special with your kids.
