One song albums

Brett Walker - 'Quicksand' (from 'Nevertheless')

Had that one years ago and only really liked the first two tracks ('Hard to Find an Easy Way' and 'Lecia'). Both cracking tunes, great voice too.

Company Of Wolves - 'The distance' (from s/t)

:agree:

100% with you on that one. Brilliant song, the only other one on that album I thought was quite good was 'Jilted', but that was still several million miles behind 'The Distance'.

These came to mind:

Ratt - One Step Away (Detonator)

Axxis - Lady Moon (Paradise in Flames)

Geoff, I'm shocked that Brass Kitten (Across America) is on your list, nearly all songs on that album are equally strong imo.

Really? It was a solid rock disc, but that track blew the rest away, imo. Stunning melodic/commercial rock amongst solid but average rockers, imo.

And you say that after dismissing gems like 'Givin' yourself away,' 'Shame, shame, shame,' 'Top secret,' 'Can't wait on love' etc? Tsk tsk. ;)

Hell's what-chen? Seriously, I have no idea what that song even sounds like, and I had that tape and then CD for about 10 years. As with all my picks, these are 10/10 songs that through the years I plucked from 1-5/10 albums, most of which I sold or traded and held onto this one song. I think James might be right that 'Jilted' was okay too - there was one other half okay song on that CD. But it certainly wasn't 'Hell's Kitchen.' ;)

Kick The Kangaroo - 'Last Kiss' (from 'Bits & Pieces') ; one of my favourite songs of all time.

DeMont - 'In my dreams' (from 'Body Language')

Snakeryder - 'Don't wanna let go' (from 'D.O.A.')

Jetboy - 'Too late' (from not only 'Damned Nation' but their whole career, imo)

Intruder - 'Deep inside our hearts' (from 'Dangerous nights' which, of course, was a good CD in fact. But this song hold such a massive place in my heart from the time when I first heard it that it's so many light years above the rest it may as well be on the album by itself)

Joker - 'Easy come and go' (from 'Ecstacy')

Nation - 'Just Before' (from 'Fall of an empire' ; again, one of my all-time favourite songs off a CD I traded off without concern)

The Hot Lies - 'Ghosts & Mirrors' (from 'Heart attacks...')

Lynn Allen - 'October' (from 'Petrified Icecream' ; I do like this album and I love this band, but this song is simply stunning on an otherwise pretty average album by their standards)

Night Ranger - 'Forever all ever again' (from 'Neverland')

The Last Vegas - 'Apologise' (from 'Whatever gets you off')

American Angel - 'Pantomind' (from 'Vanity')

A bit of trivia for y'all. I have a splendid ballad called 'Alone' from an album called 'Washed.' But it doesn't have any artist info. Anyone know who it is?

Dirty Rythem - I Can Feel The Fire

Yowser. Great song (I like most the disc) but I'd have to say that 'I can't wait' is another of my all time favourite tunes... not just on that CD but overall!

You di'nt, did you? Have you got the two albums confused, my Wham-loving friend?

Debut is brilliance from start to end. 'Freakshow' is a awkward pile of drivel. Even 'Good Girl' - as stunning as that chorus is - even the verses on that song are a mess. The whole album, apart from the chorus in 'Good Girl' was a disaster, imo.

This thread is definitely giving me some songs to check out and I'm enjoying the differences of opinion.

Have to insist that 'The Distance' is by far and away Company of Wolves' best song though. ;)

Rockhead - Hell's Back Door (s/t)

obviously everyone has differing opinions, but I have to say that I absolutely love that album as for me there are just so many stand out tracks on it.

I actually remember buying it back when it came out, on cassette no less, purely because they were supporting Bon Jovi, and had no idea what they sounded like.

At least I loved the album, and can actually say I saw them live as well.

Few more spring to mind:

Axel Rudi Pell - Land of the Giants (Nasty Reputation)

Bad Company - Stranger Stranger (Holy Water)

Sic Vikki - Kiss Me in French (Kiss Me in French)

Every Mother's Nightmare - Walls Come Down (s/t)

Sadly, I'd pretty much have to agree with that. I really wanted to love that whole CD but that was really the only song that kicked my ass.

Another:

'Turned to stone' - Axel Rudy Pell (from his dreadful 'Magic' album)

Hurricane - 10,000 Years (Slave to the thrill)

Hm, what about 'Temptation' and 'Smiles Like A Child'? Two superb songs in my book.

And the rest of them? They're just a collection of great songs from great albums!
