Was listening to Electric Rattlebone in the car for the first time in probably 7 or 8 years. Don't necessarily hate it but it never really grabbed me either. Think I played it once and shelved it to be honest. It was several years later I picked up Open Skyz after finding out that was the moniker Valentine went by after their debut. So when the very distinctive intro to None of it Matters came cranking out of my car speakers, I was reminded that Blackeyed Susan had recorded their own version of this song.

I still prefer the Open Skyz version but Dean and the boys do a pretty decent job on it themselves.

I just found it odd that two bands so stylistically different would end up covering the same song. Kinda like Steve Perry and Journey vs John Corabi and the Scream.

I went Open Skyz mainly because the BES cd sucked ass. Although when you compare Open Skyz to Valentine, it sucks ass too :)

Can I also say this is just a very bizarre poll. :christmas:

I don't actually know this song to be honest. These are two albums I sold off as I disliked both, but if I had to choose I did prefer the Open Skyz CD. I won't vote in case I get to hear both songs, but if I had to make an educated guess I'd say I preferred the Open Skyz song. :)

I guess I'm in the minority but I really liked the Blackeyed Susan album. wish I had it on cd, not listen to it in years. gotta dig out the cassette.

I got your back on that I thought it was a very good album and picked up where Dean had left off on "Dream On" on the previous Britny release with his more clean vocals and less screaching.

I think Open Skyz version is way better.

The BES album was excellent, and loved every song on it.

As for Open Skyz, I'll admit I have never heard them, but being that I have Valentine and Hugo, and never played them more than once where as BES got played to death over the years, I think its simple that I would probably prefer the version I am used to over a version by a band/singer I could take or leave.

Open Skyz version for me. Love the album too, as it features one of my all time fave tunes in 'Nothing Without You', aswell as a whole bunch of other great songs.
