I love almost all their stuff except for "The New Cars" which I don't count as the Cars. Great band!!

I remember getting their first album for Christmas in 1978 (thanks to my cool brother!). Really dug them up to around 'Panorama'. Fortunately they knew when to call it quits and didn't stick around too long past their prime. The first album and 'Candy-O' are both solid. Maybe a little too "New Wave" for some members on this board, but great for their time. Benjamin Orr's solo album 'The Lace' is really good too. Never really cared too much for Ric Ocasek's solo work.

Good band. As Roger states, 'Candy -O' and S/T are both good and I would also add the excellent 'Heartbeat City' to that list aswell. I also fully agree with his comment about Benjamin Orr's 'The Lace' album which is also excellent.

Good band. They were pretty much inescapable during the early days of MTV. Just saw their video for "Drive" on VH1 Classic yesterday as a matter of fact.

My wife's got their Greatest Hits CD around here somewhere, every once in a while I dust it off and give it a spin.

Yeah I've heard of "The New Cars" although I've yet to hear them. I'll take your word for it though.

Don't beleive a word.

The New Cars is great and the "renditions" of the old songs are superb.

All in all the Cars are a great band with a huge catologue of hits.

I like The Cars. In fact, I don't know how many here know this, but The Cars were the biggest influence on .38 Special when they made their change in sound from Skynyrd's little brother, just another southern rock band to an arena/aor southern rock band. Just listen to the guitar work in both bands. in an interview with Donnie and Don they said they knew that it was make or break time and they had to make a change. The Cars was one of the biggest things going then and they really felt what they did related to their sound. adopted some of what the Cars was doing and mixed it with some southen rock and you have .38 Sepcial hit records.

Nice pop rock.

I like Heatbeat city too,It was produced by Mutt Lange(one of the best hard rock producer).

I'm listening to it right now, yeah nice to remember.

I remember their funny videos (you might think and magic), I was very young.

I'm wondering what is doing Rick Ocasek now?

I used to like 'em but went off them around the time of Heartbeat City, Panorama I remember having a hard time getting into ... just think they disappeared up their own backsides a little on that, but Shake It Up was a decent return to form. Probably should invest in the CD's again since I long ago sold my vinyl.

    • I wonder what control they have over the releases? That have promoted the BMG individual releases. The 2009 reissues were by original label, EMI. And this boxset seems weird being issued by Cherry Red. And I have not seen the bands social media promote it at all. I wonder if the reason the BMG ones were lacking in the bonus tracks from the previous reissue was EMI holding onto the rights, but have now allowed Cherry Red to release them. I know EMI used to be the distributer for Cherry Red, so they may be more forthcoming with the material.
    • Yep, cracking indie release of which there are so many but this one is actually really good.
    • I have been a Band Maid fan since their early days (2015) as I really don't mind foreign vocals as long as the music is great, but I always kinda avoided Babymetal as I saw a video of them once and really wasn't impressed with the kiddy vocals, so never gave them another chance. Fast forward to now and on the back of the collab with Electric Callboy I have decided to give them a go. I thought they had a huge discography as they have like 25 albums, but on closer inspection it is only four studio albums and 21 live albums. As I am not a fan of live albums anyway, I decided to buy the four studio albums as they are all quite cheap. Have to say there music is a mixed bag, but overall really enjoying a lot of it. Not sure if I just picked the wrong song to start with, or if it is just that I have adapted more due to getting into a lot of weird and wonderful foreign bands over the last few years, but I am glad I finally gave them a proper go. Have to say, if this song was sung in English I think they would have a lot of fans on here
    • Babymetal - Metal resistance Babymetal - The other one
    • Enjoyed their last cd "Human Nature" remind me of a mellower Black Stone Cherry, similar to Little Caesar.
    • BlackRain - Hot Rock Time Machine Lee Aaron - Bodyrock
    • Now theres a blast from the past  I'm lucky enough to possess
    • Another i'm still awaiting the arrival of...same day release/delivery my arse Amazon  Still this is sounding like their best release thus far...they are gaining and getting better...although I did enjoy the last few albums also...but the sound/production from this one is excellent.
    • Still awaiting mine to arrive...should've been on Weds  or according to my order that was the case anyway
