Anyone else besides Chad and myself have this one yet?

If you love Melodic Hard Rock then this is for you.

Every song is a winner especially "Empty Hole", "All Fall Down", "I'm Done Lovin You", "I Can't Wait", "The Light" and "Waiting For You".

Of course with this being on Kivel Records the production is top notch as always.

New lead vocalist Alex Barbieri really brings something special to the mix with a great voice and after seeing the band at DRF he's a heck of a frontman as well.

This is highly recommended for all fans of Hard Rock that has melody.

I know there's a thread around somewhere started by Kivel but I couldn't find it.

Ok, I've been spinning this CD steady since it arrived 1-2 weeks ago. I agree with Wes, this is a kick ass CD overall.

Of the 11 songs there are 5 that I can't stop playing:

Empty Hole

I Can't Wait

I'm Done Lovin' You

The Light

Waiting For You

Each of these songs are great rock tunes in the 80's hard rock style. They would have fit right in with Dokken, Bon Jovi, Skid Row, etc. back in the good ol' days. Big choruses, great guitar work and attention to detail on everything from the solo's to the backing vocals. Good production and great inserts, with a booklet containing lyrics, band pics and credits.

The other songs are pretty damn good as well. Radio, Step By Step, and I Wanna are good rockers.

I could do without Intoxicated and the Change cover.

I can say I'll be looking forward to the next release from Tango Down.

Oh and thanks Wes for this thread that got me to check out their My Space page which got me out to Kivel to order some cd's. I knew the Farcry would be great and so far I'm really diggin' the first half of Bombay Black's Mercy. I hope to start spinnin' this one front to back completely in the next few weeks.

I like Mercy as well, I like all the BB stuff, but Mercy might actually be my favorite...

Well I guess I'm going to have to get Mercy.

'Mercy' is 10 times better than the other Bombay Black albums put together, imo. :)

As for 'Damage Control', this is great stuff. Probably the "heaviest" I've heard from Kivel yet. Has a good ballsy early Firehouse kind of vibe, except a little more aggressive. Digging it.

Still loving this disc, holding up to repeated spins excellently.

I could just picture 'Can't Wait' alongside a song like Winger's 'Easy come easy go' in the charts 20 years ago. 'All Fall Down' almost has a Skid Row vibe, 'Change' reminds of Firehouse... overall, this CD seems to take some of the best moments straight out of late 80's / early 90's hard rock and put it on display for us all to enjoy. Great album.

I'm still loving it to. You do realize that "Change" is a John Waite cover don't you?

But I do agree with your comparisons and the band was great live and the disc is one of my favs for the year but not quite as good as FarCry IMO but still one of the better Kivel discs yet.

No, didn't realise that at all. :( Which Waite disc is that from? No wonder I love it, though.

Not sure what disc it is(Ignition?) but it was his huge hit in the States and what he was pretty much known for prior to Bad English and I guess he was known somewhat for the Babys before going solo as well.

    • New album ''When Yesterday Comes Around' out March 21. From Pride & Joy Music: Alien is a Swedish rock band that has been a cornerstone of the hard rock scene since 1986, known for their melodic hooks, powerful guitar riffs, and the unmistakable voice of Jim Jidhed. Formed in Gothenburg, Sweden, the band quickly gained recognition both domestically and internationally, building a legacy of powerful albums and unforgettable live shows. Alien’s self-titled debut album, released in 1988, introduced their melodic hard rock style to the world establishing Alien as one of the standout bands of the late 80s hard rock scene. ”Only One Woman,” one of Alien’s most iconic songs which currently has almost 6 million streams on Spotify alone, became a massive hit and achieved gold certification in Sweden and dominated Swedish radio charts. The song also performed well internationally, receiving heavy rotation on radio stations in Europe, the US and Japan pushing the band higher into the global spotlight. Since then, the band has released several albums, the most recent one, ”Into the future” in 2020, which acclaimed positive reviews for its modern approach to the band’s established style, while still staying true to their melodic rock roots. 2025 marks a comeback with a new rcord coming out on March 21st, 2025 via Pride & Joy Music. With ”When Yesterday Comes Around” the Swedes take you back to a glorious time, but with a modern sound. Alien will also play at Sweden Rock Festival on the 4th of June, 2025 and will also embark on an South American tour in the fall next year. With a career spanning over three decades, the band continues to evolve and remain a vital force in rock music and the music continues to resonate with fans old and new. With a loyal fan base, a history of chart-topping hits and a reputation for delivering high-quality performances the band continues to tour worldwide and perform at major festivals and clubs. Their signature sound, a distinctive blend of melodic hard rock and AOR, has earned them a place among Sweden’s most enduring and beloved rock acts. The first single from the album, “If Love Is War” will be released in advance on January 10th, 2025. Line-up: •           Jim Jidhed – Vocals •           Tony Borg – Guitars •           Toby Tarrach – Drums
    • Haha, yeah, this is a name I am surprised to see on the forum. I remember them from what must be 20 years ago by now, I think? Is this from back then, or are they still going? Sounds pretty decent, for them.
    • Oh, wow. They're "interesting" music videos. I think I did hear somewhere they're doing a video for every song on the album, ay?
    • That Iridium Reactions dude on YouTube had this really high on his best of 2024 list... I think in top 3 or so? And it does sound quite nice. Will defo have to check this out this week and hope for a nice late surprise in the year.
    • New song 'Voices'.
    • It's so lonely in the top
    • Voodoo Circle - Hail To The King Fire Action - Until The Heat Dies Company Of Wolves - s/t (Rock Candy) Europe - Prisoners In Paradise (Rock Candy) Cobra Spell - 666 New Arcades - All That Remains LeBrock - Hope (Digital)
    • Overall a bit let down by this album Nothing that really makes me want to turn it up and blast loud, just an ok album full of ok to good songs.
