Sorry about last time... I don't know what I did wrong....

I'll try again!!

Dokken has had so many great albums!! And they are coming out with another one this year!! It is called..."When Lightning Strikes Again". I can't wait!!

What is your favorite Dokken album?

My favorite is "Under Lock & Key"

What's yours?

'Back for the attack'... closely followed by the excellent 'Under lock and key' and 'Tooth and nail'.

Oh, sure, wait until I post in the other Dokken thread, then decide to put up a proper poll. You bastid!! I don't know how much more of this taunting I can take...

My post in the other thread contained a joke about loving "Dysfunctional" and "Shadowlife," but it doesn't bear repeating, so I'll just go on record as saying my favorite album is "Back for the Attack," followed by "Erase the Slate." I also like about half the songs on "Under Lock and Key," but the album as a whole is sort of patchy, at least to these ears. "Hell to Pay" was also OK, though nothing to cream your pants over.

By the way, I've heard a few snippets from their new album, and my musical libido didn't so much as twitch. Somebody bring in a fluffer...

ULAK :banger:

 I opened up this thread, saw that reply and thought 'Shit, I accidentally opened one of the 'What album or track' threads at the moment.' Then, 14mins later, my brain kicked into gear and I cracked the code.

Dysfunctional?? Really?? I bought that when it came out, but, honestly, it didn't do much for Me.. Maybe I better give it another spin sometime soon.....

Yea, really! It took a while for it to sink in though. I bought it when it first came out, listened to it two or three times, and thought "ehhh, it's OK," and put it on the shelf. Didn't listen to it for over a year but then I got the ONE LIVE NIGHT "unplugged" disc and was very impressed with the live version of "The Maze" from DYSFUNCTIONAL on there, which prompted me to give the original some more spins. I wound up enjoying the rest of the album too, nowadays I reach for DYSFUNCTIONAL more often than I do most of the other Dokken discs on my shelf.

Back For the Attack :banger:

Followed by Tooth & Nail, and Erase the Slate :banger:

*Dysfunctional is a very underrated release; "Lesser of Two Evils" is one of my all-time fave Dokken songs, and "Too High To Fly" kicks some serious ass as well.

    • Just listened to these 2 songs today, awesome tracks. Too bad they split up....
    • That song is...actually really good, lol. The main riff sounds like it could have been on Kill 'Em All and Hetfield's voice is in surprisingly great shape. My only gripe is the drumming, which...well, yeah, there's nothing we can do about that
    • Well, at least they're being honest now.
    • Looking forward to giving this a listen tonight.
    • Ezzakly. I was having this conversation with my friend this weekend. It took us a while, but we're finally building up our football program. I believe that has a lot to do with the amount of immigrants we've had. They move to Canada and have no love for hockey; they wanna play football. Wish this had happened decades ago. My folks never let me play hockey, because it's so bloody expensive, but there wasn't a decent football program.
    • I think I recall listening to one of their albums. Don't they have a Southern Rock/Country vibe? Or maybe I'm just reading into their name, which makes me think of Brad Paisley.

Produced by Greg Fidelman with founding members James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, and clocking in at over 77 minutes, the 12-track album is Metallica’s first full length collection of new material since 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. Here’s the track listing for 72 Seasons: 01. 72 Seasons 02. Shadows Follow 03. Screaming Suicide 04. Sleepwalk My Life Away 05. You Must Burn! 06. Lux Æterna 07. Crown Of Barbed Wire 08. Chasing Light 09. If Darkness Had A Son 10. Too Far Gone? 11. Room Of Mirrors 12. Inamorata “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves,” said Hetfield of the album’s title. “The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”   https://bloody-disgusting.com/music/3741721/metallica-returns-with-new-album-single-and-tour/
