  1. Warrant live sounded like Jani pretty well, but the new music was its own. And I'm ok with that. To a degree, bringing in a clone and trying to replicate what had worked in the past is doomed to fail. Not saying that Gotthard did that, Steve's voice was probably less unique than Jani's
  2. Been listening to Wrapped Around My Middle Finger a bit recently. Surprisingly good disc.
  3. yeah that last one is the pick of all posted songs
  4. So it sounds like you're proposing an 80/20 split. I guess I can deal with missing out of the R&D for the 80%
  5. We'll call that a collaborative idea. I smell a partnership
  6. Kinda have to wonder about this. Giving guys who are getting drunk the taste for pussy? Not really an ideal situation.... I know, I'm a party pooper....
  7. Cool. All you can do is listen with an open mind. With Gotthard, when Steve died, the music was never going to be as it was. To a degree they became a new band, like Warrant did with new singers, and I try to assess the material without comparing.
  8. New album 19th October Saw they have a limited release with a different album cover for some reason. This info is from Blabbermouth.... Long-running rockers SALIVA will release their tenth studio record, titled "10 Lives", on October 19 via Megaforce Records. The disc was produced by frontman Bobby Amaru and Steve Perreira in Jacksonville, Florida and is a labor of love that took nearly a year to make. Featuring SALIVA's trademark, no-holds-barred sound, "10 Lives" is described in a press release as "quite possibly the band's most energetic, catchy offering yet." The effort contains "14 single-worthy anthems comprised of earworm hooks, shredding solos and razor-sharp production." The band says: "This is the tenth record for us — we call it '10 Lives'. The title represents where we are at in the band's career. We feel stronger than ever... '10 Lives' is about never giving up and grinding daily. We love making new records for the fans who continue to support the band through it all. This will not be the last!" "10 Lives" track listing: 01. Domination 02. Only The Strong Survive 03. Some Shit About Love 04. Close to the Ledge 05. One More Night 06. Helpless 07. Epidemic 08. Gone Away 09. The Warning 10. The Snake 11. Make You Famous 12. Pissed 13. When I'm Gone 14. Some Thing About Love Formed in 1996, SALIVA broke out into the mainstream in 2001 when the band's angsty hard rock pummeling helped earn a double-platinum certification for its sophomore album, "Every Six Seconds". The band followed with seven more heavy-hitting albums released between 2002 and 2016 and a greatest-hits collection in 2010. SALIVA is currently on tour in the U.S. Tags: saliva
  9. Unlike most here who seem to think Gotthard should be exactly as they were with Steve singing, I like the recent stuff and am looking forward to this album.
  10. Probably because it's a quarter of a century since that was released.
  11. Sounds ok to me. Wondering why the track listing is so different between CD and LP?Usually they have a set way of ordering the songs so that they compliment each other. I guess not here.
  12. Yeah, no from me as well. Not terrible, but........ unnecessary Metalizing it takes all of the 'Africa' out of it, so what's the point?
  13. I've given it a go. Like Maiden, and Lizzy Borden, and many other bands that are a bit heavier I'm finding it take the right mood for me to get in to it. I'll get there eventually, but for now it's all a bit bland and samey.
  14. Pages are all protected content so here are the links. http://www.vhnd.com/2018/10/03/michael-anthony-robin-zander/ https://beautyinchaos.bandcamp.com/track/drifting-away-ft-robin-zander Quite a good song.
  15. Listening to the earlier stuff, and it's clear that the biggest difference is the singer developing. Can't wait to see what's next.
  16. My fav songs of this one in no particular order Carnival Days Harder To Breathe Gotta Be Real Shangri-La War Of Mine Hope Reincarnation Those are the great songs, plenty of other good songs as well. Reincarnation is probably the stand out for me. Epic song.
  17. So I'm listening now and so far it's actually pretty good. On first listen probably a bit catchier than previous records. Even hits a lower register on Lost Inside The Girl, which is cool as I was comparing Kennedy's voice to Mark Slaughter as far as learning to like it, and was wondering if he had a lower register. Not quite the difference that Slaughter has, but not bad...
  18. Yeah OK. So here is where I stand. I find a heap of new music here. But it's hard work opening threads about bands I haven't heard before, because a lot of the time they are syrupy synth riddled AOR bands that I'm not a bit fan of. No problem there, not complaining, but with limited time, often I miss a cool band that slips through the cracks. I saw that a few people had this album on their top 5 so I found the thread and listened to some samples. they sounded OK, so I listened to the album (well I am listening right now, up to track 9 currently) Well fuck me if this isn't going to be my album of the year. This band reminds me A LOT of my all time favorite album - Bad City - Welcome To The Wasteland So much so that I found myself Googling to see if Josh Todd was singing. When doing so, I see on Melodic Rock that they are ripping on the singer, calling him the weak link. WTF? He makes the album for me. Weird. Anyway, what a killer disc this is. Grateful to find this sort of music through this site.
  19. WET was a good album for me, but kinda got boring. Probably make my top 10. Probably need to revisit it.
  20. Forgot about this one until yesterday I saw it at JBHiFi Will track it down and give it a spin. I really liked 7 songs off the last album, but this is a band that required quite a few listens before a call can be made. Songs need to imbed themselves inside your brain to really get them.
  21. Skyscraper - some really fucking silly bits, and some really lame lines, but overall you get what you expect. The way the Rock gets around on one leg makes me want to lose on. I'd be more agile than I am now lol
