  1. Just posting here because it's already buried in the other thread: For anyone interested in live Tyketto stuff: Tyketto live web concert - $15 (Other thread I called it a thread.)

    College Football 2011

Boy, it's a good thing nothing interesting has gone on in college football in the 5+ weeks since the last post in this thread. I remember when one could come to HH for some scintillating sports discussion. Anywho, go college fantasy football. That and watching good games in which I don't have a vested interest are about all I have going for me. (That said, next Saturday night, it'll be praying for some miracle for the Buckeyes and drinking some good beer and eating some good food. Ohio State may not be the same, but thank God for college football Saturdays!)
  3. Tyketto fans, so you have time to make arrangements, I thought I would post this news here early enough to do something. For those of you never lucky enough to see Tyketto play live (I included myself in that group until 2 years ago), here's a great "chance" to do so. Live Tyketto web concert (So you don't go in with unrealistic expectations, there is a $15 charge to be able to view the show.) I saw them on DVD from back in their hey day and they were fantastic. Saw them live a couple years ago and they were still awesome!
  4. I was sad to lose Lt. Kenneth Shea, but as crappy as the last few seasons had gotten, I thought this season was mostly a revival and the finale seemed very appropriate. I was glad this (once) great show was sent off with a winning episode.
  5. Yeah, this season is great so far. Totally erases last season from the map, provided this season continues this way. Really liking where they're taking this with trying to create factions within SAMCRO. Though, it proves interesting if they do go the 7 seasons I heard they were planning, how they'll try to stretch this out 3 more seasons.
  6. Anyone pick this up yet? Any opinions? I can't remember the last time I raced to get a Butch release and had a hard time waiting for it. The Spade has been out for 3 weeks now and I haven't even tried. And that makes HSF a sad panda.
  7. Just had a coffee porter, Perc E Bust, (that wasn't all that coffee-ish until it got really warm), but have to say, I'm looking forward to NEXT weekend and ushering in the 2011 college football season with quite a few brews, old and new alike.
  8. Anyone watch TMS with Jani? He seemed in great spirits on the show and professed a pretty intelligent attitude/outlook towards his life. Makes it even more difficult/sad to come to grips with what happened. Was it an act he put on in public? Seems in that article/blog from that fan, that things weren't so rosy, at least in his "alone" time. Still hard to believe and such a shame.

    Pointless Nonsense

It doesn't feel pointless right now, but I have to get this off my chest. An Open letter to the producers of "That Metal Show": Dear Sirs/Madam (I'm just assuming you have a woman there to keep anyone from whining about equality), During the Stump the Trunk segment, can you please shove that correct-answer buzzer up the buzzer ringer's ass during the multiple-answer questions? Hearing that fucking thing go off repeatedly, let alone 15 times during the UFO question on episode 802, is annoying as hell, let alone possibly covering up the talking/answers that are occurring on set. I love the show and that may be the only complaint I've ever had. (Although, if you wanted to show more close ups of Jennifer's ass/crotch in those tight black leather pants, I would definitely not complain either.) Thank you, Jay
  10. Forgot this from last week: Red Sun Rising - making of kings
  11. Saturday night isn't for fighting.... it (and the rest of Saturday) is for college football! So, got the first big goose bumps for the season today. Getting pretty excited. Hoping, if nothing else, the Buckeyes can put a hurting on Michigan. So, anyway, I saw this and, as big an Ohio State fan as I fancy myself, I had to laugh:
  12. Haven't had either of my drafts yet, but hoping to repeat in my 12-team league and do better in my 8-team league, though if I come out placing in both leagues, I'll be happy.
  13. Maybe they all loved Bon Jovi too much and didn't mind living in a "Dry County". *groan*
  14. Something's spinning; holy shit! Red Sun Rising - making of kings They were so powerful live, but still a pretty nice debut album.
  15. John Patrick? Everything I've ever read (OK, recent memory) says John Kennedy Oswald. Oh well. Great obit there, knowing what people are like. Please respect the family's wishes for a private service..... oh, by the way, here's where said private service will be. Asshats! Last night, the Billy Morris Band's final song was a tribute to Jani.... Uncle Tom's Cabin. Pretty cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl9c1Q-sAvM
  16. It's obvious he's lost many from the SG and M3 crowds, by and large, but I'd really hate to see him lose the die-hards, too. I've loved everything the guy's put out.... until the last one. That one hasn't grown on me yet and I'm doubting it will. (That said, I hated These Days when it came out and now it's my favorite Jovi album.) (Aside: I hope he's not going for the little hipsters that he's been drawing in, pardon the pun, spades at his shows for the past.... too many... years. I saw a girl at Trader Joe's last weekend at the checkout and she had on a Butch/Black Widows shirt. I talked to her about it for a bit, but you could tell she's younger. Wasn't quite a hipster, but much more so than I would be. Maybe it's a time for the changing of the guard. ) I'm crossing my fingers for the Spade, but if this is the disappointment I'm hoping against, he may end up becoming a "live-only" artist. It doesn't say much that I haven't pre-ordered(and have no desire to)the album. I can remember the anticipation for Letters and all the time and effort I put in to get that thing noticed. Boy has a lot changed in 8 years.
  17. Like ZA said, hard to be surprised, but I was kinda in the whole "no news is good news" camp when it came to Jani. Such as shame that someone with his talent/legacy got so screwed up. And even though it may not have been a seedy place, the place he was found seems kind of sadly appropriate with how his star had fallen. RIP Jani and thanks for all the great music.
  18. Wow! That was a nice little treat. I don't know that I'd ever see him live, but Sebastian is a pretty good singer. Wonder what could have happened had egos not been allowed to run rampant so much (you could say that about a LOT of acts) in the music biz.
  19. Have a great day, Wes! Happy Birthday.
  20. I like how one of the comments under the video at youtube says "0:16.... wow".

    ESPN people

Anyone catch John Clayton's update this morning? I have the TV on kind of as background noise and the first time I heard it, I thought my ears may have been playing tricks on me (and couldn't get back there). Second time I caught it, it was confirmed. (And then I RW over and over to hear it again.) Catch Clayton's pronunciation of negotiating? "Negoseeating". WTF? (Just bothered me big time.)
  22. Pretty much a self-fulfilling prophecy here. Sad, but as Dan said.... I'm sure it'll be a lesson to future generations....

    Books

Boy, was Widda right. That Belinda Carlisle, at least for all but the last few years, was a MESS. I was nearly as infuriated with her as I was with Nikki Sixx when reading the Heroin Diaries. (I can't believe how vivid all these druggies' memories are when they were in such chemically-induced states for so long.) Finished Drew Brees and Belinda Carlisle a while ago. Then during tonight's 8-hour power outage, by candlelight, I finished Sammy Hagar's bio Red. Wow! Had no idea dude had carved out such a cozy niche for himself in the world. Not that I didn't respect him before, but now, even more so. Top not, Samuel. Top notch indeed! (Fun, easy read too!)
