  1. I think Heart by a landslide. (While I'm not familiar with much of their earlier body of work aside from radio hits, they were majorly important to me in the mid-late 80s and still are one of the better live albums I own.) That said, I can see Joan Jett and GNR as worthy inductees as well. Then again, we all know what the RNRHOF is and how it will go down. I can't see not inducting Guns just to see what would happen at the ceremony; whether that would lead to any jam, let alone a reunion.
  2. I think Clay's fate is sealed, indirectly by Gemma by telling him things he shouldn't know, leading him to do things he shouldn't do. I loved it when Opie took care of Stahl, but as much as I'll miss the character, I think it will feel equally as good to see Clay get his. (I'm hoping it happens this season, but betting it won't be. I don't know that they can go 3 seasons without him, so I'm wondering if he'll be on the run or if he'll make a last minute save.) Last 4 episodes should be incredible!
  3. I apologize for wandering into this chat room, but I am going to try to develop lots more interesting conversation by introducing my new product: long socks. Please browse these offerings and let me know what you think of the product line. I will be back so we can have more pages of just talking and no pictures to interrupt the wonderful, flowing conversation. *** Our Product Development department is cranking things out so quickly, I now have a few more types of socks to add to our product line.
  4. Had a Crooked Tree IPA from Dark Horse Brewing. Not bad at all, but nowhere near as good as the Double Crooked Tree IPA I had. I doubt it was the bottle vs. tap thing either.
  5. Oh shit. I forgot about that. That sucks dude. Sorry to hear that. Good luck!
  6. Here's an excerpt of the email he sent out on the release date of the book(I'd have posted it earlier, but I thought I deleted it. I just found it in the trash.): Pick up “Drinking With Strangers: Lessons From A Teenage Bullet Belt” from: - Amazon - Barnes and Noble - Indiebound - iBookstore There's also an enhanced version in the iBookstore that includes a few extras: - Warrant for My Arrest an essay about Jani Lane - 8 songs and lyrics, including the exclusive track "Are You Getting All the Love You Need?" - classic photos not found in the insert
  7. Well, I think the inevitable happened at the end of the episode, but I'm interested to see if Clay really follows through on his word to Bobby Elvis or if the club revisits the vote for the gavel. And I wonder if Chibbs will help Juice or turn him in (or do the job himself). There are so many good places they can go from here. I just hope Jax, Tara, or the kids don't get it. (And I'd like to see Opie get revenge because now he has 2 reasons to do so.) Can't wait to see how much more they ramp this up before the end.
  8. I don't know if you do books on electronic readers, but supposedly, if you buy through the iBookstore or some crap like that, you can get the book and some songs. Anyway, Amazon has the book and kindle version. Here's an ad: http://www.amazon.com/Drinking-Strangers-Lessons-Teenage-ebook/dp/B004XVN1KS/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1319684661&sr=1-1.
  9. Agreed Geoff. My only hope at this point is that Butch's autobiography holds some good stuff. (And I'm pretty pissed that you can grab tracks (and a new one) through the iTunes store with the book, but nowhere else. Then again, I'm just a bitter old washout. I should just accept change and realize that it's all gravy. Oops, another example of words showing how old I am.) Geoff, that's my dear wife, Kate Upton! (http://heavyharmonies.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=27334) I was afraid she was getting jealous with my use of other women as my as siggy/avs and wanted her to know she still has my heart (and anything else she wants... the thing I pray she wants every day... 5 times a day... if I'm not too old to handle that without having a heart attack) and that I'm devoted to her. I'm honorable like that.
  10. I apologize for my bristling. Go ahead and object to my language all you want (even use it to make a sweeping generalization to people beyond me). I won't bristle anymore. (But I'm still right. )
  11. I agree, but I believe he's already in too deep. Unless the sheriff comes and tells him he's off the hook with the drugs and news about his dad, I don't see Juice feeling any better. Plus he'll always have the guilt of killing Miles, or at least worrying the Sons will find out he killed him to keep his own thievery hidden. He's gotten in a little too deep. Plus, how does he explain his way out of the marks on his neck/any other injuries? Another gang? Then again, there have been bigger whoppers told and gotten out of, so I guess it's not out of the realm of possibility that Juice could be around a long time. But more likely, only a little longer this season. As much as we want to focus on the Juice story line too, that's not even the biggest thing facing the gang. Glad you're watching it Wes. It'd be nice if this wasn't such as small conversation, though.
  12. Yes, Dad. I will do nothing of the sort. 1) I don't have to listen to you, 2) I still bristle at the comment. My comment is not meant to stand for anyone other than me, so that whole "makes us" thing is a bunch of bunk. Secondly, I'm not saying these new fans are all idiots but generalizing the change in environment (that happens to coincide with Butch's albums slowly deteriorating track lists, or vice versa). I felt I explained my view point very clearly. If that wasn't a good rebuttal of your comment, which I felt tried to completely invalidate not only my post, but all those who aren't as impressed with Butch's last few albums, then I'm not sure what to do... or why I would care. Definitely not taking your dismissive attitude with the second post, though. Butch is always a musician I will feel passionately about, even if I feel he's off the mark lately, and I will always react as such. Last I checked, the forum (any forum) is about a discussion on whatever topics that forum covers; a discussion from the POV of different people. There are no "political" affiliations here; each person doesn't have to share any particular viewpoint. If you can't handle a give and take on the subject, you're more than welcome to put my posts, or the posts of those who don't share the same views, on ignore.
  13. That was awesome! What would it be like if we had video of all the old things like this that existed?
  14. Then go right ahead and enjoy his CD and going to his shows. My money is reserved for something more important to me; something I enjoy. No one, at least on this board, has done more to further the efforts of Butch appreciation as me. I was an unapologetic Butch Walker promoter. To the cost of hundreds of dollars and a few hours of my time, but it was a cost I didn't mind undertaking at all. So, if anyone gets a word about Butch, his musical efforts, and the minions of fans (and I don't think ANYONE needs to qualify to make a comment/share their opinion), it's me. I'm sorry to see that you didn't like me using "hipster". But I'm glad to see since you don't like the word, you felt that "calling" those of us that use it, or all old fans in general, "bitter old washouts" was a good move. To me it has nothing to do with the "hipster" label, per se, but how these younger fans act. I remember the day where, at a Butch show that was still rocking, but had plenty of softer moments, that when he asked us to be quiet while he tried out a new song, or when he just went to the keyboard, you could hear a fucking pin drop because fans knew that was the "protocol" and showed Butch some respect. Nowadays, when he hits the piano, you can't hear yourself think, let alone Butch's voice, dripping with emotion, as he sings an incredible ballad. Matter of fact, I think he knows this because the last few years, I don't feel that in his songs. Whether my emotion toward the audience is coloring my perception of what I hear or whether HIS perception of it is coloring his performance, for ME, it's not what it once was. So yeah, to me, it's "hipster" kids enjoying the "scene". Show some fucking respect! I could care less to hear the people who say "It's a CONCERT! You're supposed to go and have fun!". I see that, but when Butch is singing a ballad or somber song and some young bitch yells out "I LOOOOOOOOooooooVE YOU BUTCH!", aside from the look you see on his face, all of us older (both in age and length of fandom) fans get pissed. Somehow, without ever hearing someone say a word, you just got in there, saw what was happening, and fell into line during "quiet" time. I've taken/introduced probably 10-15 people to Butch shows over the years and not a one of them did that. None of the friends I've ever made traveling the country seeing Butch have ever acted like that. There was a "core" of fans that were very close because of not only being Butch fans, but bonding over the experience of being at a Butch show. To me (and many of us), it's not an "experience" any more, but just a show. So again, I'm sorry my "hipster" makes me appear to you (or all the youngins that go to the show) like a bitter old washout, but A) I really don't care, when what I had is taken away (whether this experience or anything else in life), you damn well can bet I'm bitter about it. If you're bigger than that, kudos my friend. As far as never putting out a bad record, if that's the case to you, that's great. But many of us who have enjoyed his solo output (and were fans back from in the Southgang days, through M3, and into solo) started getting a bit disenfranchised a few years ago, either with just one song on the overall album or a couple, but now it's reached album-wide proportions for us. If I get the chance to find The Spade used or find a stream, like I said before, I'll gladly listen and hope to be proven wrong. But I'm not plopping down $12-15 to see if he 180-ed from I Liked It Better When You Had No Heart.
  15. Was that his neck or the branch? And did he get the job done? (Will the previews for next week tell us?) Didn't expect Bobby's challenge. Looks like the walls are starting to close in on Clay from 2 or 3 sides. How much longer can he take the pressure? (I don't think Unser's on his side in anything other than lip service. Tara is ready to make some noise. If Gemma finds out, where would her allegiance lie; her husband or son/grandkids? And now Bobby. The result of the vote should be great TV.)

    College Football 2011

Phew! Nebraska must have just needed a bit to get going in the Big Ten because BOY, did they make the greatest comeback in the history of comebacks last week. I wish there was a sports network that just did play-by-play and didn't feel the need to spoil the game by inserting a foot in to their gaping maws. All many ("all" lately?) talking heads (yes Mark May, that was directed right at your nerdy, narrow-minded, lucky-to-still-be-employed ass) are able to do is slam Ohio State and how horrible they've been this year (or they have even slammed them when they were on top) and took such satisfaction at their mediocrity. Yet, when the Buckeyes were routing Nebraska 27-6, there was no talk of these "World Beaters". However, one bad play (at minimum stopping a clock-chewing drive, at max a 14-pt swing) and a bad plant by Miller and Nebraska had momentum. But for fuck's sake, they came back against the worst quarterback in NCAA history, Joe Bauserman. When Nebraska completed the comeback and the game was over, it's like Nebraska had defeated last year's Buckeyes or the nationally ranked Buckeyes of the past decade(s). Am I denying that the Miller strip, and it's subsequent point swing, and Miller going out of the game were big turning points? No. Am I not giving Nebraska credit for the actual comeback they staged? No way. To be down 3 touchdowns with a quarter and a half to go and have sustained no offensive momentum as of yet in the game and to jump to 4 TDs in 22 minutes is an impressive feat. But to do it against a team with an electronic football game quarterback as your field general (who throws a ball that not only goes out of bounds, but sails over the fucking benches at the back of the sideline), is not quite the stuff of legend that folks want to make it out to be. I fucking hate sports announcers.
  17. Boy, it's not like he hadn't (at least in his head already), but Juice really passed the point of no return. This is getting really deep. While the racist storyline doesn't seem all that logical, particularly among the younger Sons, I'm enjoying this season a million times better than last. Quite the little renaissance.
  18. I'm a HUGE Connie Britton fan (she and Kyle Chandler made FNL) and tuned in even though I wasn't sure about the premise. After having muddled through around 30 minutes of the show, I can't even stay for my beloved Connie. I love most things FX, so maybe this will get another chance from me, but I deleted the first episode from my DVR without watching the whole thing. I'm much more interested in SOA, Sunny, and Archer.
  19. Great fucking episode tonight. I can't believe Juice is letting the cop push him in to what he's doing. And Wayne is getting in pretty damn deep, but looking like he'll get things accomplished. Bobby Elvis seems to be digging his own grave... poor Otto. He gives everything he has for the club and not only is he in prison, does he lose an eye, does he get in deeper by getting more time for what he does for the club in the pen, but now find out the club screws him over... and screws his wife when she was alive. And, not that they won't pull a swerve, but how obvious are they making it that the Hoff killed Luann?
  20. What a dirty rotten shame. But, it seems it is just a plain fact that Butch has sold his rock-rooted soul on his way through singer-songwriter land on his way to hipster assholery. (Understand, that's said with as much respect as I can muster.) But after that shitstain of a record he last released, I was starting to lose faith and this seems to confirm it. That said, I will try to find it to take a listen, but I fear that my opinion won't be too different than Geoff's. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I'm afraid I won't. If you want a sign of how bad it is, he's actually playing 2 shows in the area later this month. I don't have tickets to either and, unless it's a spur of the moment decision, won't go to either show. My disposable income is much lower now and my tastes have gravitated and as little as I spend on music these days, I'm not sure there's much of any room left for Butch stuff. (I know he won't play all the new album and ignore his back catalog and he always chooses great (rockin) covers, but I have this hope that noticing a few concert dollars missing from here and there might get his attention. Then again, I'm sure there are enough hipster college kids that are willing to nuzzle his nether regions and cough up their dough that he won't even notice lil' ol' me.)
  21. That certainly would be the bigger hit with the fans, but I'm guessing nowadays, it's more about what the artists want. (Though putting food on the table would have to rank up there too, especially with some artists more than others.)

I agree. This realignment stuff is nuts. I can see why the Big Ten would grab one more team and the Pac-10 would grab 2 more teams, but why does the SEC need to rip apart other leagues further. (Or the Pac-10 need to grow.) I know, money, but what we grew up loving is going by the way side. Maybe, just like with the rest of the world, it's just a sign of the apocalypse. (I agree Wes, Nebraska has to miss that home cookin'!) LSU looks TOUGH this year. That game with Bama is looking incredible! (And I'm guessing the SEC Championship will be as well.) At this point, my season not being a waste (and a reason to consume even more beer than normal) rests on beating Michigan at season's end, although as of now, I'm thinking not getting embarrassed badly will be a more realistic goal. Hope something changes between now and then.
  23. Like both of these songs and like Sam, as a singer and just a cool guy. I would definitely like to see these guys live.
  24. Musically really good! The singer.... eh. I'm sure I'M no better, but not a fan. (Stage banter doesn't help him out, either.) I'd listen to some studio stuff, though, with an open mind/without prejudice just because I like the music that well.
