  1. I like...a lot, will try and get this one when I find it cheap 'Old Habits Die Hard' almost reminded me of a Motor Ace song in the intro. Nice find
  2. If you want some stuff in the exact same vein check out this guy: Simon Boyce http://www.simonboyce.com.au/music.html Ive been meaning to order this CD. Hes a big fan of Paul Alan's solo stuff (yet amazingly has never heard Nouveaux!) haha tahts just 2 wierd for me.. simon's stuff atleast by mp3's isn't bad at all. He's a nice guy. Lives in Queensland somewhere. I really should get this album. Its really nice catchy melodic pop rock in the Paul Alan vibe... just dont expect him to have any influences form our genre... cos he doesnt! Yeah Matt I got in touch with Simon last year after you told me about his music and he sent me a CD a few days later. Nothing at all heavy, just some really nice pop/rock songs. And yes, recommended to fans of Paul Alan.
  3. Got this one today. As already mentioned the High Vaultage re-issue has a nice booklet and includes some interesting reading about the bands history. Pretty cool music too....I get a bit of a REO Speedwagon and Foreigner vibe. Fans of those bands should get on to this one if they haven't already.
  4. Yeah I agree there is a bit of filler on this disc but enough great tracks to make it an essential purchase for me. Man I'd love to see this band live.
  5. SO, YOU'RE THE ONE WHO SNEAKED BEHIND MY BACK! ?? I bidded on this one. Left it for a couple of hours for work, and then somebody (and it was you) else won it. Congrats There should be some copies left at Wishing Well online...expecting mine anyday now...check it out they're the High Vaultage re-issue $15 new, very limited quantities available. And I'm guessing that's where Jez got his from as well?...no biding involved
  6. Wow, a lot of shit there but some excellent bands. I might have to check it out to see what kind of prices are going for this. My two faves in the list - FFAF and Silverstein I have already seen... I'd like to see Anberlin and RJA... and even In This Moment. Imagine paying money for the rest though... Hey Justin, you going to this Soundwave thing? There are so many shitty bands, to the point that there is a good chance I will actually go home before ANY of the headlining acts - seriously. But on the other hand, I cannot pass up on the opportunity to see these guys again: Funeral for a Friend Silverstein And how often are we in Australia going to get the opportunity to see: Finch Madina Lake Houston Calls Forever the Sickest Kids Plus, I've never seen Anberlin so I really want to see them, as well as Red Jumpsuit Apparatis. There's a dozen other bands I would happily see in that line-up, but the headliners are atrocious. I will not see 'Nine Inch Nails, Alice in Chains or Bloodhound Gang. The other thing I was going to try was to see the bands separately if they has separate shows, but wouldn't you know it. I was in heaven seeing that Silverstein, Anberlin, Finch and Chiodos (?) play on the 25th together... but on the same night Forever the Sickest Kids play with Red Jumpsuit Apparatis. I think the only option is to go see them all. Anyway, that was super boring. Thinking out loud. You going? I dunno...there's quite afew bands there I wouldn't mind seeing and in particular Finch would be awesome as well as Forever The Sickest Kids and Funeral For A Friend. Anberlin would be cool too. But to pay $135+ to put up with those crowds...I think I'd rather try and catch 1 or 2 of their other Brisbane shows. Problem is a lot of these bands are not doing extra shows in Brisbane. I'm really not much of fan of festivals anymore...I've been to most of them at least once and that was enough. I think if I can con a mate into going with me I'll be in. Otherwise probably not. Your right about those headliners...I'll take off well before they come on.
  7. Absolutely. Great band, they are similar to 1927 and others already on the site Did they sing any songs I'd know, mate? Of course you know 'What About Me', especially with all the hype in recent years from the Shannon Noll version. But Moving Pictures also had a well known single called 'Winners' which I think was written by Garry Frost when he was in the band, and later went on to form 1927. Moving Pictures lead singer Alex Smith also has some good solo material.

  9. -i posted this yesterday in the metal section, being a band from Finland I thought I'd post here as well- I just discovered this band, playing quality Melodic Metal with comparisons to Edguy, Pink Cream 69, Pretty Maids as well as some heavier influences like Iron Maiden and Helloween. The band formed back in 1998 and have just released their 2nd album 'Moonlight Time'. From the samples on their MySpace site, these guys sound really solid and will especially appeal to fans of later day Edguy. The music really sits on the border between Melodic Hard Rock and Melodic Metal. Masquerage on MySpace Masquerage Official Website

    Masquerage

Yeah, they're definately worth a listen. The first three songs on their MySpace are from the new album and the other two must be older songs but all are great slabs of melodic hard rock/metal.

  12. Personally, I think their last album, '2nd Round' was f*cking excellent. But I think I was the only one. If you like Fate and Masquerade, chances are you'll dig that disc. Their debut was only okay but apparently this new one is meant to be a gem too. Would love to get my ears on it! doooooooooood, fate & masquerade.......?? you really hear those two band on the 2nd airless cd??? geeez i'd agree about masqurade on the airless's fab debut & thats all..... i gotta admit i hear classic harem scarem mood swings on the 2nd airless so i'm really looking forward to picking up their new cd....... i'm told that i may not like it......... you howvere should have no problems whatsoever it seems.. I've never heard anything from this band, but that Mood Swings comparison is enough to get me on board. I'll check em out.
  13. I really enjoyed the last 18 Visions CD, espcially 'Broken hearted' which is one of my fav songs ever. As for Burn Halo they have an awesome hard rock sound and should appeal to many here.
  14. Yeah I fucking hate jewel cases, but I still haven't found a better alternative. I'd be happy with them if they were like the old jewel cases from the 80's/early 90's when the plastic was much higher quality and didn't break so easily. You just can't buy quality jewel cases anymore, anywhere.
  15. Boston - Always loved this band, simple catchy rock n' roll songs, you can't go wrong. The S/T disc is a favourite. Foreigner - Great band, Lou Gramm has a magical voice, as with Geoff, Mr. Moonlight is a favourite album of mine. Journey - You can't go wrong with Journey, so many great songs throughout their career. I love the Escape and Raised On Radio albums best. Survivor - All their 80's albums from Eye Of The Tiger through to Too Hot To Sleep are quite nice to listen to. Not sure about the rest. Toto - I've tried to like this band but overall they bore me a little. A few killer songs though.
  16. Welcome Dave, we could use a few more Aussies around here
  17. Three of my favourite artists! I'll have to check this out for sure.
  18. Hey Geoff, do you know any online/other retailers selling this one at a good price? I like your description of the music and I'm very keen to give this one a go but so far I can only find it on E-Bay as expensive imports from Germany with equally expensive postage costs.
  19. Wow, I'm suprised to see B.Adams & Marxy were added to the site. Agreed, a very good decision.
  20. I missed these ones in 2008, you've made me want to go and check these albums out now...
  21. I'm wondering if that Kick Start poster is the Aussie band who released 'Hook Line N' Sinker' etc. in the early-mid 90's I've been trying to get hold of all their CD's/EP's for some time now but no such luck. BTW Smash - 'Out For Blood' kicks ass!
  22. Very cool stuff, suprised they're not well known in Australia. Do you know if they ever released a demo/cassette/CD or anything?
  23. Any of the classic AOR fans here know of this one? What's it like? Wishing Well has a few copies of the 1997 CD re-issue + bonus tracks for $15. Any truth to all those comparisons?
  24. I see what you mean about the retro feel. I actually like 'Tangle' the best. I don't think I like these guys enough to buy the CD but they definately will appeal to some.
  25. I was just wondering about these guys, add this to my list as well. I really loved their first album...
