  1. Some of you may have already seen this list as its been around for a long time now, but this is the top 100 AOR songs of all time as listed by the author of the Strutter 'Zine website. A pretty cool list which includes many "lesser known" AOR gems. The big suprise for me on this list is seeing Stone Soup - Hard Fall come in at number 75. A great song, but I find it the odd one out as that album wasn't released until 1997 whereas most of the other songs on this list come from classic 80's AOR albums. A very interesting list, which might give you some ideas of bands/songs to check out: Strutter 'Zines Top 100 AOR Songs Of All Time
  2. I can still only find a link with 20 songs as listed earlier. These are some of the songs I haven't got...if anyone comes across a link that includes them please let me know, thanks. Magic Goes Away Never Let It Go Stay With Me (Tonight) Too Far Gone
  3. Here's the demo CD your speaking of. It's on Time Warp Records (Italy). It has 20 tracks Are You Ready Dance Dance Down to the Ground Easy Street Get Down and Dirty Give Me Love Here I Am Hold Back the Night Hungry Days (Live) I Need Your Love I Will Be There Let's Get It On Lies Looking For A Stranger Never Let It Go Oh Mama Outta Luck Rock It Running Wild Strange Kind Of Love
  4. Sounds like it was a great night. I was talking to a mate from Canada who is living in Brisbane at the moment, he went to Soundwave and said that Alice In Chains was the highlight of the day...but that's his sort of thing...crazy!
  5. Man this band is awesome, some extremely catchy melodic hard rock tunes here, would love to hear them in higher quality. Here are the demos I have, 20 in total, if anyone knows of any other I'd be very interested to hear... *=best tracks Are You Ready Dance Dance Down To The Ground *Easy Street Get Down And Dirty Give Me Love Here I Am *Hold Back The Night *Hungry Days (Live) *I Need Your Love I Will Be There Let’s Get It On *Lies *Looking For A Stranger *Never Let It Go Oh Mama Outta Luck *Rock It *Running Wild *Strange Kind Of Love These guys have been compared to many of the great Melodic Hard Rock bands of the late 80's/early 90's. One review at truveo.com regarding the band and their 'Hold Back The Night' video reads as follows: "Amazing, extreme underground and underrated U.K.'s Melodic Hard Rock act from the late 80's. This is a terrific song! The massive keyboards, the big vocals, great chorus and tasty axework are on the same style of bands like SHY, Treat, Zeno, Prophet, FM (UK), Skagarack, Only Child, Giant, Blue Tears, Tarzen (Madrid record)... etc. I'm think that if you like any these bands, you will like Garrison. Garrison are: Tony Mitchell - Vocals Kevin Wilson - Guitars Alec Burrell - Bass Derek Lindsay - Drums Michael Bruce - Keyboards / Guitar The band lasted from 1988 to 1991, but this magnific video was made in 2003 and its full of eights pictures. As far as I know, these guys never relesead a single EP or a full-lenght Lp, only demo-tapes. I don't know if Alec Burrell is relative to the Bad Company's bass player Raymond "Boz" Burrell (R.I.P). Video Credits to Michael Bruce. Thank you very much! Garrison deserve to be remembered! I hope you enjoy it! Stay Hard... "
  6. Yeah a great song!!! A real shame about the low recording quality and the fact that an album was never released. Looked them up on AOR FM, seems there is very little info available on this band. Apparantly there are 24 demos and a couple of live tracks floating around. I'm downloading a bunch of demos right now.
  7. I came to HH's too late to have had the pleasure, but in reading his old comments on the main site he comes across as a right dick head.
  8. Thanks for telling us how the day was. A shame about the cattle gates at the start but sounds like there was plenty of good music to be heard. Suprised to hear RJA were a bit of a disappointment...maybe that's cus you saw such an awesome Anberlin set right before it? I can't stop picturing that fat bowl cut keyboardist jumping around.
  9. I liked the debut, not mind blowing but pretty solid. Looking forward to geting this one.
  10. Ok, I am missing 17 CD's from this list. Unfortunately a few of them are damn expensive or not to be found, i.e. John O'Banion. This is a great list with some real deserved 'Classics' in there. I'm short of 6 of them. A few more from me: * Not yet on CD Airborne - S/T Andy Fraser - Fine Fine Line * Avalon - Every Man A King * Bourgois/Tagg - Yoyo Buxx - Knickers Down * (To be released on Retrospect) Bystander - Stranger Things Have Happened Tane Cain - S/T * Conductor - S/T * Donnie Iris - Fortune 410* Hyts - S/T Hyts - Looking From The Outside John O'Banion - Danger Keane - S/T Keane - Today, Tomorrow And Tonight The Kite - S/T Laurie & The Sighs - S/T * Lisa Price - Priceless * Limousine - Rox U Lynx - Sneak Attack Mariner - S/T Mariner - II MPG - S/T * Mayday - S/T Outrider - No Way Out Oz Knozz - 10,000 Days And Nights The Reggie Knighton Band - S/T * Sandy Stewart - Cat Dancer * Shelter - First Stop Sneaker - S/T Spy - S/T Stingray - S/T Trigger - S/T * John Valenti - I Won't Change Verity - Interrupted Journey Zappacosta - S/T I've heard of a few of these titles Jez. The Stingray album is good. Bourgois/Tagg - Yoyo - I'm sure I have this one on CD....maybe a bootleg? I'll dig it up shortly and tell you the details.
  11. Looks like it'll be a good day Geoff. I've decided not to attend the Bris festival. As much as I'd like to see some of these bands, I don't think I'll be too disappointed if I don't. As long as I can listen to their music at home I'll be happy. Think I'll save my dollars for other things. I wonder what New Found Glory are like live, I'll be interested to hear your report back on this festival.
  12. Quite the predicament... I'd go with seeing Finch over Red Jumpsuit purely because, as you say, they have some absolute killer songs which are better than any of Red Jumpsuits material. I don't think they'll disappoint. As for the other group of bands, I'd recommend going with In Flames. They're a lot heavier than what I usually listen to but seeing them live, I don't think you could go wrong. Should be killer set of metal. I remember geting their Jester Race album years ago...some pretty good stuff on their as I recall. Hope this helps...and enjoy the day!
  13. Georg Siegl from AOR Heaven definitely is the better choice in Germany. At least he has the stuff on stock. Yeah, I've always found AOR Heaven very reliable...just wish their international postage was a fraction cheaper Did you see this ? I don't think this is too bad ! Keep in mind though, that shipping is rather expensive over here, unfortunately. From the AOR Heaven website: Rest of the World(USA, JP, etc.) Postage rates airmail (not insured >>at your own risk in the case of loss or damage) ++ Insurance is 2,05 Euro (extra) With the jewel cases: 1-4 CDs = 8,00 Euro 5-8 CDs = 12,00 Euro 9-17 CDs = 24,00 Euro Without the jewel cases (you'll get all the paper goods, we only pass by the tray & the case): up to 10 CDs = 8,00 Euro up to 20 CDs = 12,00 Euro up to 30 CDs = 28,00 Euro Please ask for UPS Express shipment rates (optional) Our discount offer: 3% discount for orders of 10 or more CDs/DVDs! 5% discount for orders of 15 or more CDs/DVDs! 10% discount for orders of 20 or more CDs/DVDs! Yeah that isn't too bad I guess, for some reason I thought it was more expensive than that.
  14. Actually the John Sykes 1997 version from his Loveland album is pretty good too... John Sykes - Please Don't Leave Me (1997 Version) on YouTube
  15. Georg Siegl from AOR Heaven definitely is the better choice in Germany. At least he has the stuff on stock. Yeah, I've always found AOR Heaven very reliable...just wish their international postage was a fraction cheaper
  16. Yes, I agree, the Pretty Maids cover is spectacular. I also really like the acoustic version of the song which can be found on their 'Stripped' album. Actually just listening to the YouTube clip has got me confused...is the Sin Decade version different to the Stripped version?? I may have to dig out the CD's and check this. EDIT: Yes they are different, the Stripped version being stripped..duh
  17. I've purchased from Hangloose once in the past and don't recall there being any problems. Maybe a bit slow to post but that doesn't bother me much as long as it arrives within 4-6 weeks I'm usually happy. In fact I was browsing their website today and considering another order. Even though the Australian dollar is still very weak, there are quite a few new releases and re-issues that I really want so I think I'm just going to lash out and make a bulk purchase from one of the retailers. I'm deciding between AOR Heaven, NEH and Hangloose at this stage.
  18. My favourites are probably 4 followed by Double Vision, but Mr. Moonlight always gets overlooked and IMO is a brilliant album...give it another spin
  19. i-Ten - Taking A Cold Look is being re-issued so finally I can afford it... Rock Candy is releasing it and apparantly offering a bit of a temporary discount on pre-orders. Check it out here: Rock Candy Website Also noticed they are releasing Billy Satellite - S/T album...I've not heard this one, can anyone recommend it?
  20. but don;t burn them to the point of death. Let them live scarred and in agony for the rest of their lives. Think abouth the many people that jumped in their cars to escape and ended up not being able to see through the smoke and having head on collissions and smashing into trees/light posts and siting crushed in their cars with multiple internal injuries before the fires finally took them. I'm sorry to paint such a graphic picture but I would like the arsonists to understand the exact pain and suffering they caused for so many. It seems every time Australia has severe bushfires their is a component of nature at work but also usually a component of deliberate arson. This wouldn't be the first time arsonists have claimed property and human lives, but never on this magnitude, of course. Luckily Australians are good at working together and recovering from tough times. If the arsonists aren't caught and sent to burn in hell, at least they will have to live with the self thought of being mass murderers and despised by every decent person in Australia and the rest of the world.
  21. Some of these have recently been put on the HH database buit... Richard Marx Bryan Adams Corey Hart Blue Rodeo Boom Crash Opera Crowded House Concrete Blonde Icehouse Hoodoo Gurus Hunters & Collectors INXS Roxette Goo Goo Dolls Keith Urban Rascall Flatts Billy Joel Fleetwood Mac Motor Ace Speedstar You Am I
  22. I once traded a heavy/thrash metal CD called Dead & Bloated - You Don't. Not my sorta music at all but I wish I still had it as I've seen it on many want lists and I don't think I got a fair deal on that trade.
  23. I stand by my original thoughts on these guys, the 'When We Were Kids' song is cool, the rest I can do without.
  24. Yes a big shout out to Jon from me as well. Jon recently hooked me up with some China CD's. A very friendly person, completely reliable and a credit to the HH's community. Thanks Jon
  25. The song samples here sound incredible...where can I get this from...guessing it's impossible to get if only 100 CDR's were pressed? Hopefully I can download it from somewhere instead.... I have to own these songs. If anyone comes across a link to download this please let me know.
