  1. Firstly, I look for a good cover, followed by a band photo, followed by the the release date. If all those things appeal and it's cheap, I'll usually give it a shot. One thing I can say is, that if an unknown used CD has a really bad album cover, I won't even pick it up to inspect further, I'll just keep looking.
  2. Yep still buying quite a bit. I'm trying to find Aussie sellers to avoid the extremely poor exchange rates, this has helped me to get lotsa cheap CD's this year. I guess I have still been ordering from AOR Heaven and NEH lots this year but I'm being a bit more selective with purchases.
  3. I'm hoping a few of the 80's AOR fans can tell me if this one is worthwhile... They're an AOR/Pomp/Hard Rock band from Wales who released a single album 'Across The Water' back in 1986 and a 2 track single 'Don't Break My Heart' in 1988. I've heard some really positive comments and I'm considering buying the CD re-issue from AOR Heaven (released November 11th on the Krescendo label) So far all I've heard is the title track 'Across The Water' which is really cool. 4. Actually screw that idea, the RM website is asking US$26 to post the 2 CD's to Australia.
  5. I saw Noiseworks last night - was an awesome show and 'Take Me Back' was especially beautiful. Jon Stevens has an amazing voice and he sounds every bit as good as he did back in '88. The support was Taxiride and I must say I never realised how melodic that band was. And the first support was a band called Move Trees which is actually fronted by the bass player for Noiseworks - really good Sydney band and one to keep an eye out for.
  6. Thanks for the reminder !! Have totally forgotten this site ! This list comes from the same website, though is the top 100 Hard Rock/Metal albums of all time. Top 100 Hard Rock/Metal Albums Yes, a great site, but I can't read french!
  7. Yeah Jez, I just had a listen to all the samples for 'Emotional Remains'. Definately in the same vein as his last two incredible albums but perhaps a little less pop rockish and the material is not as instantly catchy. I should wait til I have the actual CD and play the songs the whole way through before I make judgement.
  8. I just downloaded Phil Cristian - Prisoner, pretty cool AOR. Great voice.
  9. Here's a list of the top 100 rated AOR albums at HardnHeavy.it Some of the albums are fairly well known, others not so well known. I often use other people best of lists like this to find new stuff. Basically if you know that like most of the stuff on the list, chances are you might enjoy the ones you haven't heard of. 10. You can sample all tracks on the official Richard Marx website here. Both albums are being sold for just $10 each on his website (pre-order) or you can download both albums for $15.
  11. Sorry about the double post but I really wanted to start a new thread for these new albums insted of having them in the Richard Marx - Greatest Hits thread. Just read over at MR.com that Richard Marx has two new studio albums on the way. The first of these, and the one that has me really excited is called 'Emotional Remains'. It is described as straight ahead, modern rock with songs that "posess the heartfelt vocals found in all of Marx's signature songs, but with a hard rock edge." The second of the new albums is called 'Sundown' and is a bunch of duests and cover songs. less appealing to me but being the fan I am I'll pick it up for sure. You can pre-order or download from his website now...apparantly Awesome news!

  13. Totally agree about the Intuition - Turn It On disc. I think 'Night By Night' is a favourite of mine from that album. As for other albums that match up to Blue Tears, although not really obscure, I'd have to throw Diving For Pearls - S/T in there as well. Another high quality release is Ransom - Trouble In Paradise.
  14. These guys are from your hometown aren't they Lindsay? I remember seeing an add for them in a rave magazine or somewhere and was curious about them at the time. Have they put out any releases?
  15. What's the John Waite - For Japan Only EP like. I've not heard of it before....worth tracking down?
  16. Hell yeah my black cousin! Add Teargas' 2nd EP to the list for me too. Love that one. No , its awful Edguy have a heap of cool ep's too Yeah, I have all the Edguy EP's - haven't got them in front of me but I seem to re-call some good non-album stuff on some of them...will have to dig them out and see. I also like the Pretty Maids - Offside EP - 5 unplugged tracks.
  17. Mr. Mister - Kyrie is an excellent song. Huey Lewis had some cool pop songs. The Outfield are cool. INXS are cooler. Loverboy are an excellent band. Pat Benatar has some great songs. The rest I can do without.
  18. I don't mind some of theis band's material. I seem to re-call that there were plenty of better songs than Zombie though...I've got their best of album lying around somewhere, I think it's called "Stars".
  19. From memory it was about 2.5-3 weeks, certainly not longer than that though. I always found them reliable.
  20. That's great news. I've been looking for a copy of China S/T recently so I'll hold out for the re-issue.
  21. The Brisbane show for Lynch Mob/Faster Pussycat has moved from a big club to the uni guild bar - should be good seeing these bands up so close in a little bar like that.
  22. WTF!!!! When and where and how much? Who's in Lynch Mob??? PERTH - Monday 8th December – Capitol, Perth Tickets: www.justsayrock.com.au, BOCS tickets, www.moshtix.com.au MELBOURNE - Wednesday 10 December - The Hi Fi Bar Tickets: www.justsayrock.com.au, Metal Mayhem: (03) 9621-1666, www.thehifi.com.au SYDNEY - Thursday 11 December – The Metro Theatre (All Ages) Tickets: www.justsayrock.com.au, www.themetrotheatre.com.au BRISBANE - Friday 12 December – The Arena Tickets: www.justsayrock.com.au, www.oztix.com, The Arena Box Office Not sure who's in the line-up...I'm liking the fact that they're going to play Dokken material as well. I think $74 is a bit harsh but it's not everyday us Aussies get to see bands like these play live...I'll probably go to the Brisbane show
  23. So are any of the Aussies here going to see Faster Pussycat and Lynch Mob...I still haven't decided
  24. Yeah love the footy show, but as Matt says the Sunday Roast is better - still very funny.
