I'm more of a beer man these days. My tastes are fairly uninteresting - Toohey's New or XXXX Gold cus they're cheap and taste good. Yes that's right XXXX Gold, there is someone out there that still drinks that stuff. As far a spirits go, I've always been a Bourbon man, usually Jack Daniels. I guess AU$36-$40 is about average here in Brisbane. But have you bought a JD+Coke at a pub recently - most are charging $8 for a glass. But yeah, guys I'm keen to know what people are paying for a bottle of JD in the US? Any cheaper?

I had a listen to all the songs on the MySpace site - I like what I heard. To be honest, I hardly noticed any brass. Cool stuff. Thanks!

Wow this is awesome. There's so many bigger bands of the same type that have never been here so it's strange to see these guys are touring. I've read Lynch Mob is going to play half Dokken tracks and half their own. Should be good fun. I'm in on this one.

Any rumours guys? Who's touring? I'm waiting to hear about the ACDC tour...surely they have to play some Australian dates. I'll see them for sure as it may be there last world tour. Edguy needs to come back as they promised....even if they just do Melbourne/Sydney shows I'll travel to see them. And Jeff Scott Soto needs to re-schedule after canceling his last tour of Oz due to the Journey thing. My next concert believe it or not is Toni Childs - a mate of mine really wants someone to go with and I turned out to be that someone. To be honest I only know a couple of her hit songs. After that, my next concerts will be Noiseworks and on the following night Def Leppard. I've also just checked out Scary Kids Scaring Kids on MySpace, they're not bad at all. Geoff should like them...if I can be bothered later I'll start a thread in the 'Other Music Styles' section. Here's a re-cap of what's coming up, shit included. Cool story, sounds like they were a well known band in Ca. for a while. Yeah I had a strong suspicion those last few videos were from a different band. Another album of songs from these guys would be great!

I'm a bit late discovering this one as MTM released the CD back in 2000 and I believe the band has been playing since the late 80's. Anyhow, just played their CD Corridor of Windows for the first time and was hugely impressed. This is absolutely wonderful stuff and IMO one of the best AOR releases I've heard for ages. Just listen to the tracks 'Hello Heaven', 'Why Cry' and the title track...awesome. 1. What She Wants 2. In Your Arms 3. Hello Heaven 4. Why Cry 5. Like It or Not 6. Wait Till You Find Me 7. Yeah, I think "chilled out" is a pretty accurate description of this album. There's something really relaxing about listening to it. I agree 'Our Song' is absolutely killer and will rate very highly in my fav songs of this year too along with 'Gin & Tonic Sky'. I'm also starting to enjoy the tracks like 'Eye' and 'Hey' which didn't grab me on first listen. As far as JSS solo albums go, my fav is still Prism, however, this one has a different style from his past 2 solo efforts. Superb music!

Seems this band broke up 2 months ago, so I guess there won't be any releases after all.

At the moment yes from I-Tunes but there are a few blogs around where you can get it from as well. I refuse to pay for a download as I'm definately going to purchase the CD when it comes out. I cant even see it on itunes Hmm can't help you there...I've never had anything to do with I-Tunes and don't ever plan too either. But I can tell you that CD Baby has the tracks for download as well - here's the link.

It's a few comments like this that I have read which is why it's still sitting on my computer unheard. I will get around to putting it to disc, but I'd be lying if I said I was in any hurry. That said, I always like his solo discs (the last 2 anyway) so this should be good... I guess? You know if I heard comparisons to funk, R&B etc being made about any other artist I'd stay well clear but I know from his past works that JSS can mix these styles with melodic rock music with amazing results. Geoff I imagine you won't be fan of every song on the album but do yourself a huge favour and listen to track 7 'Our Song'.

The new JSS album 'Beautiful Mess' is out now as a download from I-tunes. I'm not sure when the actual CD release is but I'm sure keen to own one. I'm a huge fan of JSS and in particular his previous solo albums 'Prism' and 'Lost In Translation'. Whilst the new album has its differences from past JSS works, I think anyone who enjoys his previous solo albums will find a lot to like about 'Beautiful Mess'. One of the big differences, I think is that this new album doesn't have many ballads like his previous solo albums had. However, his voice is as strong as ever and I just love the way he mixes up hints of styles like funk, soul, blues and R&B (the classic kind) into his songs while still keeping them very much in the rock vein. There are some brilliant songs on this album and overall it has a great solid sound. The best track for me is the modern sounding rocker 'Our Song'. I also really like 'Gin & Tonic Sky', 'Cry Me A River' and 'Broken Man'. Overall an excellent album. Your thoughts?

I've got the issue with all four of them on the cover. A great CD with this issue...love the live version of Magnums 'Start Talking Love', also really liked 'Overload' by Uriah Heep - a band I've never deliberately gone and listened to...maybe I should? Pleased to see there wasn't a feature on Led Zeppelin this month...man I was really geting sick of Classic Rock's obsession with that band - every issue going on and on about them.

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. A few years ago I bought 'The Definitive Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Encyclopedia' in a 2nd hand auction only to find it was incomplete. The encyclopedia was put out in the UK by Metal Hammer and is a black & white publication, consisting of 13 parts. Each part consists of approximately 30-35 pages of band biographies/discographies in alphabetical order. The parts I'm missing are the sections covering pages 129-160 and 193-256 (I think 4 parts in total). I can't see a date of publication anywhere on it, however, looking at the discographies it seems it would have been published in the early 90's, probably 1990 or 1991. If anyone recognises this from the photo I've taken and can help me out with sourcing the missing parts, I'd be very greatful.

The 3rd or 4th song - something about 'love' was a nice commercial rock song but there 10,000 much better bands doing this kind of thing. As I said in the PM, Andre, something like Yellowcard, SR-71, A Change of Pace, Just Surrender, SR-71 etc. would blow your mind if you really actually liked this thing. All 100% better. Our very own Kid Courageous devours this band and then multiplies it by 1000. Was just listening to Kid Courageous again this morning, brilliant album...highly recommended

Yep I think that's a good idea as well. I think the 'modern rock' thing has taken over the 'other music styles' section of the forum which is where I like to start topics on such great artists as Corey Hart and Nik Kershaw And with the huge number of really good modern rock bands emerging I think the genre is deserving of its own section.

Cool, I'd not heard of Nobody's Fool before. Just checked them out on MySpace - pretty good Hard Rock/Glam. Apparantly they released a third album in 2006. Heres a video for their song on YouTube. 'Forever' is a great song as well, I just heard that on their MySpace site. NF have now had 5 releases..though they just keep sticking the same songs on them.. even some of the "Strange Behaviour" tracks appear on early NF albums... once again i had alot of NF stuff but got rid of it.. Man I would've kept them. I always seem to have a soft spot for Aussie bands of this type (Melodic Rock/Hard Rock). Even if I don't really like their music eg. Hell City Glamours; I tend to respect them because they represent Australia in the genres that I love. Just watched a video of them covering the "Steel Dragon" song 'We All Die Young' from the Rock Star movie. Very cool.

Yeah I agree, I picked up that CD for around $10 and see it on E-Bay for similar prices on a regular basis.

Just doing some research on these guys...little to be found but I did find a website selling their 2nd album 'Strange Behaviour' for $130. That's way over budget for me but you can hear a few samples from the album. From what I can hear the 2nd album has a very similar style to the debut to give you an idea of what it sounds like. I picked up a 2nd hand copy of this CD recently for $12. Really good sounding AOR/Melodic Hard Rock. Keyboard fans will enjoy this one. Not sure who to compare them with, maybe a mix of INXS and keyboard driven AOR with awesome lead guitars. There are 8 tracks on this disc, however only 4 different songs (tracks 5-8 are insrtumentals of the first 5 tracks). With a higher budget production, I think these tracks would be just awesome. Looking at this band in the HH's database, I found that they have a 2nd album from 1996 called 'Strange Behaviour'. If anyone has 'Strange Behaviour' to sell I'd be very interested... So has anyone heard these songs? What do you think? I'll see if I can upload a sample...
