  1. You could try here for $9.97, but again you couldn't be sure what version it is poprockasia Did you only very recently order the CD? Maybe you could contact them and ask if they have an English version to send? You probably won't get a reply but might be worth a shot...
  2. Awesome band!!! So far I've only heard samples on MySpace and CD Baby but I'm loving it. As you say, really melodic stuff, huge choruses and well written songs. I'll be tracking down this CD for sure. Great find Geoff. Though I do really hate to bring the bad news but the 'The One' album was released as both an English and Thai version You definately wouldn't usually associate Thailand with this sort of music but believe it - as Geoff suggested, this band is good enough to sit alongside any other modern melodic hard rock band. Thai Album Tracklist: 1. Satree mai lhek 1 : สตรีหมายเลข 1 2. Rao pen khon luek eng : เราเป็นคนเลือà¸à¹€à¸à¸‡ 3. Ngo : โง่ 4. Puk : พัภ5. Mai por pieng : ไม่พอเพียง 6. Rung ror : รั้งรอ 7. Khun krang : คุà¸â€œà¸à¸£à¹ˆà¸²à¸‡ 8. Nuey leaw... : เหนื่อยà¹à¸¥à¹‰à¸§... 9. Eak krung : อีà¸à¸„รั้ง 10. Klai : ไà¸à¸¥ English Album Tracklist: 1. Moving On 2. No Regrets 3. Enough 4. The Long Road 5. The Daily Grind 6. Nevermind 7. Extra Extra 8. Unhappy Ending 9. Long Distance 10. Take Me Home
  3. Yeah those two demos are pretty good. I'd be interested to hear more as well.
  4. Agreed, I've always loved 'Dying For Love' As already mentioned - Harem Scarem - 'Stranger Than Love' is a fav of mine and I could probably pick another few songs from them as well such as 'Hard To Love', 'With A Little Love', 'Honestly', 'Distant Memory', 'If There Was A Time'. Another song which springs to mind is Bad English - 'Straight To Your Heart' from their Backlash album as well as Def Leppard -'Promises'. I'd have to say too that if Garrison ever released a CD, they would have a few near perfect melodic hard rock songs as well. As far as a format goes, I like songs that start off really soft and have huge huge choruses, lots of backing vocals and as Lennie said, fading out with a guitar solo is pretty special as well. Harem Scarem - 'If There Was A Time' has a fairly unique format. It's been a while since I've heard it but I seem to recall a very quiet intro followed by some stunning melodic vocals. I'll have to check that one out again. In fact it's probably not a contender for the perfect MR song as the intro is so bland but they surely make up for it later in the song.
  5. You're right, there is almost zero information on these guys to be found on the web. I did however find a little reference to a Staten Island rock club called 'On Stage' which was originally an 80's disco club before becoming a live music venue for hard rock and metal acts. Some of the bands that played there included: Cities, Deceiver, Armageddon, Lust, Lady Cadaver, Satin Steel, Law and Order, Savage Thrust, Seductive Luck, Pythian, Animation, Leonard Nimoy (which the guitarist is now in a little band called Guns n Roses), Scum Dogs from hell, Bratt, Missdeameanor, Prisoner, Schmegma, Kill Van Kull, D.B.S, NY Fury, etc. It also hosted the best of the best for our jersey neighbors like Xenon, Side Kixx, TNA, Kidd Gloves, Prophet, Trixter, TT Quick, Skid Row, etc. (yes that right they played there with their original singer Matt John -I think that was his name, as well as Sebastian Bach). Sounds like it was an awesome club. I think he meant to say 'Matt Falon' as the original singer of Skid Row. I'd also be really keen to hear more about this band if anyone has seen them live or knows anything about them.
  6. BBMAK - Into Your Head (2002) Out of My Heart (Into Your Head) Staring Into Space Get You Through the Night After All Is Said and Done Out of Reach She's Everything Run Away Sympathy I Still Believe The Beginning This is the review I came across that made me give this a go... "A British Trio.... first gained success in the USA. IN THE LATE 90'S WITH THE SMASH HIT SINGLE "Back Here Baby"THEY WERE VIEWED AS A "BOY BAND" WHO PLAYED GUITARS. This, their second and final CD was released in 2001, and signaled a more edgey, pop rock sound.. the guitars had been turned up a notch and the song writing is superb! Still boasting great melodies and brilliant harmony vocals... similar to Invertigo and Taxiride during their "Garage Mahal" period. This new "rockier" approach didnt sit well with their legions of girlie fans...and the album didnt succeed..a mighty shame, as this is first rate powerpop/rock." I know this band is a little bit on the pop side and quite soft but there are some truely beautiful songs on here. Very melodic, well written and catchy. Here's a link for anyone interested: BBMAK - Into Your Head
  7. Brilliant stuff!!!! I really like what I've heard. Especially 'Numb'. Is the album out?
  8. And here's the link for those last 7 songs: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZKTN5DSK I just finished playing these extra tracks, all very nice songs! Incredible band!
  9. Just checked out Remedy Drive as well, very very nice stufff. I can just about say that I'm going to track down both these albums based on their MySpace samples alone. These bands will be far too mellow for many here but the music is really great. Top finds mate! Keep em' coming!
  10. Nevertheless sound pretty good, far from heavy...but very good stuff
  11. I had a listen to the samples, quite good but nothing really stood out as being awesome. At the moment there is so much music on my want list that it has to kick lotsa ass to get me interested. Still the songs aren't band and I'd recommend other modern hard rock fans at least give the samples a try.
  12. And here's the link for those last 7 songs: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZKTN5DSK Cool, thanks Geoff!
  13. Yeah your right...it seems every Melodic Rock/AOR band from Australia gets compared to those bands on the basis of where they come from, not on the basis of music style. We may as well compare them all to Wildland as well.
  14. Thanks for the info...now I'm keen to hear that Fair Warning EP. As for paying $60 for the album, yeah I was a bit hesitant but figured it was quite rare and I have to say I was really very interested in the music. BUT...after some extensive searching today I found 2 more copies, one for $10 and another for $20...why does that always happen to me? So I should have a spare copy or two soon if anyone is interested.

    Snake

Ok after some research, I need to clarify a few things... Firstly, the 80's Aussie Hard Rock band 'Snake' who released 'Let The Music Begin' in 1986 is kinda the same band as the 'Snake' who released 'Strike' in 2006. From what I can see, Larry Attard is listed in the line-up on the 1986 'Let The Music Begin' LP and is also the 'brainchild' of the "new" Snake, who according to their MySpace page, formed in 2006 and released 'Strike'. Confusing I know... So what I can gather is Larry Attard, a founding member of the original Snake, reformed Snake in 2006 without the other original members. Interestingly, the band has re-recorded six of the original songs from 'Let The Music Begin'. Snake - Let The Music Begin, Possum Records, 1986 Track Listing: Side 1: Let The Music Begin Time Strike Every Dog Has Its Day On The Right Track Side 2: In For The Kill 3rd Time Lucky Out Of The Night Dont Mess With Me Sweet Revenge Band Members: Larry Attard - Bass, Vocals Gordon Hedges - Drums Gary Nelson - Rhythm Guitar Kim Wheeler - Lead Guitar Recorded At: Ramrod Studios, Sydney, 1985 I've seen this LP for sale a few times, usually selling for around AU$100, got mine for $10
  16. I recently purchased Carmen Suite - The Gift LP. It's a 6 track LP which was released in 1987 on Reflex Records in very limited numbers and has never been released on CD. I can't seem to find info on this band anywhere. Does anyone know about them? They are an Aussie band, presumably from Melbourne and as far as style goes, the seller I purchased from made comparisons to Safire, DeMont, Avalon, Zambelis and Roxus; though I haven't unpacked my record player after a recent move so can't comment on the style myself. Track Listing: Side 1: Sail Away Stop It So Alone Side 2: Call Me Watch Your Step Who Knows What Band Members: Bob Topping - Lead Vocals Paul Loannidis - Bass, Vocals Vic De Marco - Electric & Acoustic Guitars, Vocals Jimmy Stoitis - Guitar, Vocals Tony Pinuto - Drums Recorded at: Silkwood Sound Studios, Melbourne, 1987 I've never seen this one for sale before, got mine for AU$60 including postage

    Snake

Not to be confused with another Aussie Hard Rock band called Snake who released an LP 'Let The Music Begin' in the 80's, these guys are from Brisbane and play a fairly typical brand of Aussie Hard Rock/Pub Rock similar in style I guess to The Angels, Rose Tattoo, ACDC and more recently The Vines, Jet and Airbourne. No ballads from these guys! Just pure classic Hard Rock! Pretty good stuff! They released a 9 track album called 'Strike' in 2006. There's a few gigs listed for NSW and Qld in the coming weeks. Check out the sample on CD Baby. MySpace CD Baby
  18. These guys look pretty young and there is only 1 track to go off but not bad - kinda cool popish Hard Rock/Glam. I guess they're one of those young bands jumping on the 80's revival bandwagon. Not that there's a problem with that as long as the music's alright. They have an EP coming out this month and some tour dates listed around Oz, including here is BrisVegas. Anyone know anything about these guys? Lindsay?? MySpace
  19. Yeah these guys sound awesome, very melodic, would love to hear more...
  20. So the new one from Street Legal is coming out on March 13th. Am I the only one looking forward to this? Check out the disc on melodicrock.com Rocking A band that I'm not too familiar with but judging by these samples I should check out more of them. Great stuff!
  21. I like the sample for 'Happen', not entirely sure about the rest but will be worth a proper listen.
  22. A bit of a mix for me..both bands have some great albums and both have some average albums. Overall ACDC is the better band. Back In Black For Those About To Rock... Flick Of The Switch Heart Attack To Rock Or Not To Be Black Ice
  23. Hey mate, try the link I put above. It has all (I assume) 27 songs they have recorded. Well, I'm at the end of the 27 songs and these guys are slight heartbreakers. Of the first 14 songs, 10 are literally as good as any songs I have ever heard. And even the okay ones in between are a lot better than most bands. But there is a clear separation in recording time evident here. I know nothing of the band, but I'd say those first 14/15 songs were recorded in 1989/1990 with a keyboard player in the band. Then, I'd say the last 10 or so tracks were recorded around 1991, possibly with the keyboard player having left the band? Because they did a complete 180 on their sound and "threw an FM" (FM's transition from the flawless 'Tough it out' to the terrible 'Takin it to the streets'). The last ten or so tracks are useless raw "rock n'roll swagger" filler songs without a decent hook in sight. The only saving grave is a new version of one of their early songs, 'Lies', which is great. So, Andre, my question to you - in these talks you have heard of a release from these guys, are we going to get a flawless melodic hard rock release from the early years, or a filler-packed album of the later years? Based on what Justin has said above, it looks like the Demos circulating on the Time Warp label are all based on the later years. Which I can understand as the sound quality is better... but the songs are certainly not. Nah that link has the same 20 songs as the one I downloaded. I'll keep searching. I also noticed some of the best tracks were much lower sound quality. Really??? Wow, okay. Well if you and Jez and all you chaps only got the 20 songs I'll upload the additional songs I have next Monday for y'all. How many songs did you get, Jez? Er...1,2,3,4.........20 mate! Goddamn. Well, if you guys want them I'll try to upload those last few songs on Monday. Wonder why the link changed... I wouldn't bother, but it sounds like the tracks that are missing are actually some of the earlier better ones. That'd be awesome Geoff.
