  1. You have 3 pending submissions at Heavy Harmonies, and 3 at Brutal Metal as well; ALL submitted in March. Please elaborate on all the shit you've submitted that hasn't been added, cuz I'd be real fucking interested to know WTF you're talking about.
  2. Tracks 12 & 13 "All Woman" and "Put the Hurt On You" were written by Marc and featured in the movie Affliction Tracks 15 & 16 are by Jeff Wilson, and featured in the movie Brokeback Mountain Track 14 "Shufflin' Off" remains a mystery; sent Marc an IM on Facebook asking about it, just hoping for a response.
  3. I really enjoyed this thread, so I thought I'd pull it out of the mothballs... Y&T rank as my third favorite band of all time, so I thought I'd give their discography a go. Studio albums: 01. In Rock We Trust - I preferred the band's sound during the mid 80s, and IRWT, DFTC, and Contagious are all EXCELLENT! 02. Down For the Count 03. Contagious - Features one of my all time fave songs, "Eyes of a Stranger" 04. Ten - "City" is such an underrated song from this one 05. Black Tiger - My favorite out of the Y&T trifecta (Earthshaker, Black Tiger, Mean Streak) 06. Earthshaker - Alot of old timers would probably scream blasphemy having this one at #6, but Y&T's discography is so good that their #6 for me is alot better than most band's best albums! 07. Mean Streak 08. Facemelter - Amazing comeback for the band with 13 years since their last regular studio release 9. UnEarthed Vol. 1 - Y&T's leftovers and demos are better than many band's standard releases! 10. UnEarthed Vol. 2 11. Musically Incorrect - Their mid 90s releases weren't bad, they just don't match up to their previous output 12. Endangered Species 13. Acoustic Classix Vol. 1 14. Struck Down - Those first two releases were a band perfecting their hard rock sound; not bad, but I don't play these much 15. Yesterday & Today The live discs: 1. Open Fire (Live!) <----- Classic live release! 2. Yesterday & Today Live 3. Live One Hot Night 4. Live on the Friday Rock Show 5. Live at the Mystic The Songs: My favorites from each release in chronological order Struck Down Dirty Girl Rescue Me Hurricane I Believe in You Open Fire Hell Or High Water Forever Black Tiger Winds Of Change Mean Streak Midnight in Tokyo Down & Dirty Rock and Roll's Gonna Save The World Life, Life, Life Masters And Slaves Lipstick And Leather Don't Stop Runnin' Your Love Is Drivin' Me Crazy In The Name Of Rock All American Boy Face Like An Angel Summertime Girls Looks Like Trouble Hands of Time Contagious L.A. 4. Opened this old thread up on a whim earlier this evening, and did a little exploring; turns out, there's a whole gaggle of these MasterSource CDs around: https://www.discogs.com/label/577612-MasterSource https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw="master+source"&_sacat=11233&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=11233&_odkw=mastersource+ Marc Ferrari put out quite a few of these between 1996-2003, with a wide variety of musical genres represented.
  5. This isn't going to appeal to everyone here, but I love this! The first time I heard it, I immediately went to look up who had done the song originally, and was amazed to find that Paul had written it himself; the sound is straight up Motown baby! The entire Soul Station album is GREAT in my opinion, covers, and originals (which Paul wrote and handled the orchestration on) both. Check it out if you like a little R&B and soul...
  6. Gary Hughes - Decades Nice collection to grab if you're like me and don't yet own any of his other solo stuff.

  9. Here's an interesting one... So, back in the 80s when "Kiss of Death" was written, the song was orignally about a one night stand resulting in the man contracting AIDS.... fast forward to the mid 00's, and a young lady posts on the Dokken messageboard about how she loves the song "Kiss of Death" and it's tale of a Vampiress taking the life of her victim. Of course, alot of the board members immediately corrected her regarding the meaning of the song, but then Don himself chimed in and said that (paraphrasing here, as I don't remember his exact words) although he'd never made that connection before, that YES, the lyrics perfectly lent themselves to a tale about a Vampiress, and if that's the way she, or anyone else, wanted to interpret the song, that was cool, and perfectly fine with him. I think the song makes perfect sense as a vampire tale. A brief encounter Like wind through the trees It came so suddenly But then it was gone Like it had never been How could i have ever seen A lost heart Will take your soul How could i have known How could i have known As she took me in her arms And brought me to an end With the kiss of death The kiss of death She promised paradise As she lied upon her bed Like a fallen angel With the devil's charm She promised paradise With the kiss of death I tried to stop As she held out her hand But the fire was burning inside She knew what i wanted She gave it and more But now i must pay the price We were strangers Passing in the night How could i have known How could i have known As she took me in her arms And brought me to an end With the kiss of death The kiss of death She promised paradise As she lied upon her bed Like a fallen angel With the devil's charm She promised paradise With the kiss of death As she took me in her arms I felt the devil's charm Suddenly i see The final destiny With the kiss of death The kiss of death She promised paradise As she lied upon her bed Like a fallen angel With the devil's charm She promised paradise With the kiss of death With the kiss of death
  10. I only recently discovered this little gem, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I like the Bad City comparison, and I'd also say they are straight hard rock with a dash of Crazy Lixx, and a pinch of Crashdiet at times. Not sure why this one didn't receive much fanfare back in 2012/13???
  11. Vocals- Russell Allen (Symphony X, Adrenaline Mob, TSO) Drums- Stix Zadinia (Steel Panther) Bass- David Ellefson (Megadeth) Guitars- Phil Demmel (VioLence, BPMD, Echoes of Reckoning)
  12. Ran across the actual video for Higher tonight... travel back to 1991 with Ralph and company
  13. LOVE the Van Halen covers! And of course, every time I listen to Steel Panther, I go back to this classic... https://youtu.be/pC61stOcG44 <--------- Adult Content - Click the link
  14. Yeah, they added some “oomph” to the song that really puts it over the top. I do enjoy the Fair Warning version though.
  15. From Wikipedia: She Don't Know Me" is a single by American rock band Bon Jovi. It was the second single from their self-titled debut album Bon Jovi (1984). It was written by Mark Avsec (of Donnie Iris & The Cruisers fame) and charted at #48 on the Billboard Hot 100.[1] The song has the distinction of being the only release in Bon Jovi's entire discography that was not written or co-written by a member of the band. In the early 1980s, fresh off a stint playing in the band Wild Cherry, Avsec wrote and produced the debut album for the disco band LaFlavour, who scored a pair of minor hits with "Mandolay" and "Only the Lonely (Have a Reason to be Sad)"[2] upon the album's release in 1980. At the time, Bon Jovi and LaFlavour were both signed to labels owned by Polygram. By the time Avsec composed LaFlavour's follow-up album, however, the band's name was changed to "Fair Warning", and their disco image was scrapped. "She Don't Know Me" was one of the songs Avsec penned for the upcoming record, and it appears as the lead-off track on what was to be Fair Warning's self-titled album. However, around this same time as LaFlavour's transformation, PolyGram was preparing to release Bon Jovi's debut album, and they were looking for a strong hit single. The decision was made for Bon Jovi to also record "She Don't Know Me" and feature it on their own debut album. This prioritization of Bon Jovi, combined with the fact that Van Halen were releasing an album with the same title that same year, caused the stagnation of the Fair Warning project. Beyond a few promotional copies,[3][4] Fair Warning's self-titled album would never be officially released.[5] Incidentally, it would take several more years for the Bon Jovi album to materialize. Meanwhile, in the ensuing interim period, two already well-established musical acts covered the tune. The well-known 1960s/70s band The Grass Roots included a version of the song on their 1982 reunion album, Powers of the Night.[6] The following year, former Outsiders and Climax frontman Sonny Geraci recorded his own version of the tune under the pseudonym "Peter Emmett" (backed by the Donnie Iris and the Cruisers band, including Avsec).[7] In 1984, Bon Jovi's self-titled debut album was finally released, and "She Don't Know Me" was released as a follow-up to the band's first hit, "Runaway." In addition to the studio version of the song, a live version also appears on the Document in Japan bootleg recorded on 28 May 1985 from the 7800° Fahrenheit tour. It is an extended version of the song lasting 8:24, commencing with a 3-minute drum solo. The song has not been performed live since the mid-1980s.

  17. Did a search for “walk the walk” before posting my thread and this one did not come up. I guess I was too fucking specific for this board’s search algorithm. Whatthefuckever...

  19. This one arrived in the mailbox Friday; more pure METAL than his recent output with Queensryche... digging it so far. Added over at Brutal Metal today: https://brutalmetal.com/cgi-bin/glamcd.cgi?BandNum=11707&CDName=Rejoice+in+the+Suffering&Letter=A
  20. Official statement on the site now: NEH Records LLC has been in business now for over 25 years. I formed the business with my partner, Bobby Barth back in the 1990’s. At that time we functioned as a production company with a recording studio and as a distributor with ecommerce retail sales. We were one of the very first companies in the world to sell music on the internet. In 1999, we decided to divide the company. Bobby moved to Louisiana to front the Southern Rock band “Blackfoot” and took over the production and recording studio assets. I continued to operate the distribution and ecommerce portion of the business from my office in Colorado. Bobby retired a couple of years ago and it is time for me to do the same. I am currently exercising an exit strategy that will result in the closure of NEH Records within the next few months. Toward this end, we stopped adding new releases and restocking older titles in December of 2020. We are also selling off all of our inventory and will continue this until all are gone. We add new SALE items to our web store on Wednesday of each week. In addition, we are selling off a number of very rare, collector’s item CDs that we have had in storage for decades. These are in the RARITIES section of the web site. These CDs are new, in mint condition and in many cases, still in the original factory packaging. They are priced competitively with other sites that sell CDs of this type (eBay, Amazon, Discogs, etc). It has been a pleasure serving the Melodic Rock music community for all these years. We appreciate the support and friendship we have shared with our customers, the artists, the media, our suppliers and other music business owners and their employees. We will miss you. Michael McPherson: Owner, NEH Records LLC

  23. This has been discussed on the Melodic Mafia Facebook page, and it appears to be legit, so I thought I'd let everyone here know that sometime later this year, NEH Records will be closing up shop, as owner, Michael McPherson plans to retire. There will be no new releases carried going forwards, and there has been a "rarities" section added to the site where he is listing older, now out of print releases, with most being sealed. Discs released in the last few years have seen pretty dramatic price decreases as well. I absolutely HATE to hear this, as NEH Records has been my Go To site for many years, and Michael has ALWAYS provided top notch service. NEH Records will definitely be missed; thanks for all the CDs https://www.nehrecords.com/
